All in all a good experience. Watching whales is of cause a highly discussed topic: not seeing anything Vs hunting animals with 50 boats arises suspension all the time. Raja and the whales team are honest telling people that whales are wild animals and there is a chance to spot them amongst their favourite spots but no guarantee. So if you're happy with a boat trip in choppy sea conditions for about 5+ hours and don't expect them to dump you on top of the whales you should go. Of cause once there's a whale sighting about 5 boats speed but they keep respectable distance and shut down engines once close. First trip we haven't seen whales but loads of dolphins around our boat. We got the chance to go for free the next day again and for half the price later as a compensation if you haven't seen whales. Second trip we spotted heaps of whales and dolphins. The crew is really friendly and attentive, offer sea sickness pills and take care of u when u get seasick. Free water, live jackets and even breakfast, fruit, tea and cake were offered. Good thing is that they provide heaps of information about the animals (really good English) and you can ask whatever question. As they have a good camera in board you'll get some pics as well.

Amazing experience! 5 star ⭐️ The crew is really caring and respectful of the whales! When spotting one, other boats would rush and stress the whale, whereas Raja and his crew stay calm and wait for the whale to come to us. We didn’t see whales for our first trip, but saw 300 dolphins that were jumping around. Then we got offered for FREE the next day to come back and try again. We then saw a large fin whale. We really enjoyed how nice the crew was, and answered all our multiples questions! We really felt connected to the sea, and can tell they work with the ocean and not exploit animals. In addition to organise tours they collect data for wildlife organisation. During the trip, they served us a really nice breakfast, and tea and coffee whenever we needed it!! People who says that this experience is boring, doesn’t know what “whale watching” is. The whole point is to search around, and wait and see what animals are there ! If you’re not patient, maybe whale watching is not your thing! We had an amazing time and will try to come back when we can! As it was very interesting, and The dolphins on every trip where so playful with our boat, that it made it even more amazing!!! Thanks again!☺️

We went for whale watching and chose Raja as was recommended from friends that visited many years ago. The booking was easy through WhatsApp and the trip was great. I was sea sick but they took good care of me. We were super lucky as we saw: dolphins, BLUE Whale, another type of whale, a Turtle and flying fishes! Raja and the team are super friendly and knowledgeable about whales and how to protect and care of them. Recommended!

Good service. Tour takes approximately 3-4 hours. Staff is friendly and well experienced. Life jackets are provided and refreshments and breakfast is provided. Boat has ample space with 2 decks. Can accommodate 60-70 travelers on board. Probability of watching whales and dolphins depends on weather and sea condition.

Absolutely unbelievable!!!!!!! Haven't even got off the boat yet and couldn't wait to write this . Do not hesitate at all with this company, they are outstanding and visibly the best. We saw a whale 3 times!! We were super worried about the ethical element and boats scaring and chasing the whales. Raja and his team didn't do this at all. Infact they had smart knowledge on how to identify whales from a distance and let the whales come to you (whilst saw another company charge towards it). They are so clever and knowledgeable and the place is fully family run. The team are just incredible. You get a fruit platter on arrival and then a delicious sri lankan omelette. Take sea sickness pills as sea is super rough this time of year! (August). I could go on forever about this review, that's how amazing this company is!

We enjoyed the whale watching with a lot of information about blue whales and dolphins we saw. The ship let us enough time to see and enjoy the whales a couple of time. There was no rush. We had fresh breakfast, plenty of water. Thank you raja!

Fantastic experience from start to finish! Raja and the team are very experienced but also very friendly. They had a lot of knowledge about all the marine life. All the food on board was tasty. They did a birthday cake for one of our party.

Great experience and had a good service from the entire team. Tour takes approximately 5-6 hours. Staff is very friendly and well experienced. Life jackets are provided and refreshments and breakfast is provided. Boat has ample space with 2 decks. Can accommodate 60-70 travellers on board. Probability of watching whales and dolphins depends on weather and sea condition. Saw around 200 dolphins and 1 blue whale on a rainy day, which means a lucky day for the group.

Great experience and we saw whales and dolphins. The guy running it really care about the whales and genuinely are upset when other boats upset the whales. The food they provided was great and the whole trip was great. Just be careful about the anti sea sickness they offer it's really makes you tired

Very good experience with Raja and the Whales. They made sure to give proper instruction and medicine before we boarded the boat only. We saw blue whales, shark and turtles. They gave us very good breakfast, hot towels, juices and they made sure everyone in the boat are comfortable as few were having sea sickness and vomiting a lot. Make sure to pop in an avomine in the morning. They have medicines with them as well.

Raja and the crew of his boat are absolutely passionate professionals in their field. I extremely loved the whale watching experience. Everyone is polite and happy to talk about their research, different species of animals and overall very interesting people. It's very encouraging that the guys care about environmental issues and do their best to follow the rules and principles themselves. The journey from start to finish went very well. The whole team was worried and followed the people who got seasick. And in general, I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the boat and the toilets, which even had a bidet. We ended up seeing a blue whale about 22 meters long and several packs of Spinner Dolphins. Our boat always kept a distance from the animals so as not to disturb them and to show respect for their home. We stayed on the water longer than any other boat and watched the whale for a long time. Any other boats tried to drive as close as possible as soon as it gets out from water and just didn't give the animal an ability to make a full breath of air, may be that is one of the reasons the blue whale population has decreased dramatically in recent years and it is less likely to see them now than it was a few years ago. I haven't sailed with the other companies and I don't know how they position themselves, but I can tell you for sure that after sailing with Raja you won’t find such gentle and respectful person to the animals. Thank you so much for an unforgettable experience and see you soon!

I had the best experience with Raja and the Whales. They really care about the animals (they don‘t chase them) and the environment/ocean. We got free breakfast, coffee or tea, coconut and lunch (also vegen or vegetarian). They know so much and try their best to find the animals, and to give their guests the best experience. Even if you don‘t see whales you can come on the next day and only have to pay taxes again. They take pictures and send them to you later. It was the best experience I had in Sri Lanka and can highly recommend them!!!😍

The only whale watching tour you should do in Mirissa if you care about animal protection. I can only recommend this tour with Raja and his crew. We saw a blue whale and many dolphins and the crew was full of excitement when they were watching out for the animals. They made sure that everyone on board realised where the animals are and that they can see them (e.g.people were sleeping due to sea sickness) When the blue whale showed up Raja left enough space for the whales to breath and act in their normal habit without chasing them. I cannot say this about ALL the other boats. At least 6 boats were following the whale with high speed and approaching him too close. Also very good pictures were taken with my camera from the crew. Thanks for this experience with you!

Fantastic Trip with raja ans his Crew. Picked up from the hotel and 5 mins walking time from Office to the ship. While the Trip you will receive a lot of Information regarding dolphins, Wales and more. They are very friendly and attentive. The Trip will need 4-8h so ofc it could be a Hard Trip for your Feelings. The best: they Do not chase the animals and are very respectful. They brought us a lot of Water, tea and food. Very nice! After Trip you receive a few pictures from raja per Mail with nice shots with their own cam. You are doing nothing wrong with choosing raja and his Crew!

👍👍 I had a great time on their boat. We saw a blue whale and dozens of dolphins of two different types. The staff was very friendly. I paid 16500 Sri Lanka Rupees for the whale watching tour which lastet around 6 hours (good food and water included), what in my opinion is a very fair price. Also their...
