Came during off-peak season and got the whole beach to myself. Surf coach was great if you payed attention and listened to feedback. Learning how to surf for the first time and was able to standup to ride small waves within the hour.

I stayed for one week in Kumara's surf camp and had an awesome time. Kumara took great care to ensure a perfect stay and organized accomodation, breakfast, surfing lessons and dinner. The surfing lessons I took with him were very helpful to me and I made real progress. Among the local surf schools he is one of few licensed teachers. He provided great feedback and advice on surfing techniques. Furthermore he is a Weligama native, well known and respected. He has superb knowledge of the local area and can also provide great advice on travelling in Sri Lanka in general. Can only recommend taking surf lessons on an intermediate level with him!

If you have never been surfing, Kumara surf school is the place to go. Kumara and his crew really make you feel part of the family. Kumara is extremely patient, fun and gives helpful tips throughout your whole experience. Kumara is the only licenced surf instructor in Weligama, with 16 years of surfing on his belt. Prices are really affordable and Weligama itself is probably the best beginner surf beach I've ever seen (continuous waves). A bonus: the water is also around 25degrees constantly! Highly recommend!

It was an amazing experience. I learned so much in a short time period. Kumara is a professional and excellent surfteacher. He knows when to push you further, when to try by yourself and to give you the right tips at the right moment. He and his crew have the ability to get you relaxed on the board and feel comfortable to try new steps. You will not regret the lesson. I believe he is the right choice for every surfer who wants to go one step further in his or her skills.

I went here to have my first surfing lesson with two of my friends. Kumara is an extremely friendly dude. Was very accomodating and even helped us find lodging for a cheap rate nearby. Decent price and excellent lesson. Would recommend without any hesitation.

Kumara is a very experienced surf instructor who is clearly passionate about surfing and knows the local breaks intuitively. But most importantly, he's super fun to be around! Really recommend doing a few sessions with him to improve surf skills or just to help get aquatinted with the conditions in Weligama and Midigama. I'll definitely be back!

It is such a great surf school. We had one surf instructor for my boyfriend and me as beginners. We learned a lot, and it was quite fun. Everbody was very kind and helpful. Because of them we had a great evening. We will come back and we are looking forward for more surf lessions. 🙌😊🌴

Surfed with Pragree. Had a really good experience. It was my first time and the technique and patience of the trainer really does help you. Make sure you go either in the mornings as much as possible, I went at around 2:30pm and the waves werent much and had to wait bits before strong surf like waves came. I wanted to surf again next day with them am but I had time crunch so couldnt. Enjoy your time!

Best choice I've made) Kumara and his brother are real lovely people. They are fun but will also give you lessons that are worth it. Will do again and hope its gonna be soon✌🏼

Kumara taught me the basics of the sport. He's one of the best surfers and instructors out there. And one of the very few ISA certified surf instructors so you don't have to worry about your safety if you're a complete beginner. Even after two years of surfing with them he still helps me improve my surfing and choose right surf gear. Great human being above all.

Only got the time for 1 beginner lesson and it was fantastic. Garan knows his stuff, was very patient and professional. Would defo recommend this place. I'm hooked and need to plan proper surfing holidays 🏄‍♀️
