The hotel is not amazing. The staff is friendly. There are a lot of dogs around here, but for us that was not a problem. The food was good. The hotel is right on the beach. There were not a lot of people on the beach so you can always find a free spot at the shadow. We didn`t like the beds because they were very uncomfortable and also the pillows.

Lovely place with an amazing view. They have lovely sea view rooms. The best part is they have family rooms with two double beds which is good for a group of friends who wanna vacation by the ocean. You can either dip in their pool or swim in the ocean. The staff along with its owner himself were all very helpful and humble. The food was amazing and the portions were huge.

Just stayed for one night. Thankfully, not more. The AC didn’t work much; it just blew slightly less than room temp air. Surprisingly, the AC filter was actually clean. The vodka from the restaurant was watered down to 20%ABV, and cost 750LKR for 100ml. Not great water pressure. The food was basic and the curry was not thick; more like a thin soup. The fries were fine. The pillows smelled of urine, but the sheets were fine and the mosquito nets were good, along with the mattresses. The balcony view was great, and the location to the beach was stellar. The pool was also clean, and warm. The room I booked was two king beds. Don’t waste $50 a night here, unless you really love this section of beach (it is nice), and you don’t need AC. For food and drinks, go next door to Fujisan restaurant. Great food, drinks, and prices.

Poor infrastructure. Poor furniture. Views of beach are not so nice. Only good part is the access to the beach. Food is very average. People and staff are not friendly. They are arrogant and rude. Menu on offer is very very limited. Hardly you get any choice. Food is not expensive though. The quality of food is very Street side kind. The rooms are not spacious and very less space. The toiletries in the room are very very cheap kind. The placement of furniture and the layout of room is very odd and not organised. Furniture is found torn and damaged too.

Such a disappointment... When we arrived to this huge hotel we had a warm welcome but after that it just went wrong. - The floor where our rooms were, sounded like a factory, the air-condition machines are placed on the aisle next to the front door of your room. So there is a constant noise because everyone around you is using them. When we mentioned it they told us that we can go to another room, of course it didn't happen but I'm sure that all the rooms have the same problem. -The wifi wasn't working, they even placed a router in my room but still sign of connection. -There was no water pressure on the second floor so it was impossible to get a proper shower. -There was no electricity all day long. -We asked them to wash our clothes, it took 2 whole days to get them back and they destroyed more than three t-shirts and shorts we gave them. (white spots) After this we got the bill of 5500 LKR and of course we didn't want to pay because of the circumstances I've just mentioned, the lady raised her voice and started to throw the clothes and her pen and notebook on the floor. Very unprofessional. -The 'open' kitchen is disgusting, full of flies and not hygienic. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. You're just a number for them, not a guest.

Relatively clean. Entrance looks like a construction field. Beach is nice but no umbrella. Do not have big expectations about rooms and bathrooms

Jaga bay is located right on Weligama beach and has a very private beach feel to it. Also, it is considerably quieter here. We arrived later at night and although the entrance looked like a construction site, the staff were very helpful in showing us the different room options. We checked into one of the sea facing chalets as the room that we were shown was too cramped. The chalet had a partial sea view, access to the beach, and is located near the restaurant. The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable and with a mosquito net. There is a lot of shelf and hanging space for your clothes. It had an a.c which worked fine the first day and then leaked the next day. The staff did try to fix it but, nothing seemed to work. The bathroom was clean, with hot water through the day. The water pressure though could have been better. Breakfast was not the greatest. The food, especially the Sri Lankan breakfast, was cold when we got there. So, we stuck to made to order eggs, bread and fruit. Lunch and dinner are a la carte. The portions are great, and the food is tasty. Maybe don't order the fries though. The staff are kind and go out of their way to assist you / offer suggestions in terms of what to do and where to go. They have a couple of dogs on their premises that are quite friendly. All in all, this was an ok stay given that we were mostly out and only came back later on in the night.

Been there for a breakfast, pretty good place, one of few around open at morning. We had special breakfast menu, it's very good value for 550lkr. Also serving good Italian coffee. The bacon was full of fat with no meat, fried eggs were nice. Nice place at the beach where you can have breakfast watching squirrels or some kind of lizard ;)

I found this place to be very run down. It was also very, very noisy due to construction of a new wing. The room I had was large but badly designed so that there was nowhere to sit at a table. A few tables were provided by the bed, and there was a chair but putting them together was very awkward. The bathroom was quite large but with only limited space above the sink to store anything. Lunch outside by the beach was very noisy. I found the staff to be surly and disinterested. The menu was very limited. The food I did order was ok. My specific complaints are: Ants in bathroom Huge cockroach in bathroom toilet Ceiling fan in bedroom very noisy (and wobbled a lot when run fast) Hot water only warm on the day I arrived but better the second day. Shower bracket broken in bathroom so shower wand would not stay up. The power went out both afternoons for an hour or so. At the beach restaurant, despite being right on the beach, there is a very limited view. This was also true from the balcony in my room. On the plus side: The room had a kettle and coffee and tera. The fridge in the room has soft drinks and beer. The A/C worked but had to run the entire time to keep the room cool - even at night when it was not hot outside. There was a mosquito net around bed Don't eat here. If you stay at this hotel, go next door to the Fujisan Restaurant to eat. It has much nicer staff who are smartly dressed and eager to serve you, as well as a really good menu.

We stayed here three nights and found our stay quite lovely. The beach is right there! The waves come in at a steady pace and consistent loudness that soothes the mind. Staff were very attentive and were quite eager to serve us Sri Lankan breakfast each morning. Our room had air conditioning, a private safe, a king-sized bed, a refrigerator, and a tub! The down side is a rustic grounds still showing tsunami damage, unfinished building levels, and dead palm trees jutting thru the building which leak during hard rains. New construction of another building and pool in time for 2019 season. I still am glad for the stay!

We had a mixed bag of experience at Jaga bay resort. The location of the resort is awesome but when we visited the place we found something fishy. In our rooms we found an instruction booklet saying that there will be daily temperature checks by the Srilankan army and that we cannot leave the premises till the end of stay. Upon checking at the reception, we found that one half of the resort is converted into a quarantine facility for the SL navy. Due to that half the resort is not usable and we avoided going to the swimming pool too. The food was good but lacked variety. The beach with the resort is great for surfing and there are surfing classes and boards available for rent. The wifi speed is good but the range is quite limited. The restaurant service is a bit slow but you wouldn't mind it as you are sitting near the sea. Would be best to avoid it till the quarantine facilities are continued so that you can freely roam around and use the whole resort's facilities.
