Best coffee in Sri Lanka! Great food and the most chilled setting to watch the sunset or just chill with a book.

Had a fantastic breakfast / brunch and working session at Layback. The wifi is good enough to take calls, the team is very accommodating, and the poached eggs were absolutely delicious. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a spot to get stuff done!

Dutch owned, chic cafe situated a road away from Weligama beach front, Layback cafe provides delicious food and a great space for digital workers. We visited layback twice and sampled a few dishes, all were made with real fresh ingredients and were mostly western brunch classics with a little Sri Lankan flair. The staff are all very polite, the decor is really clean and provides a really chilled spot to get some laptop work done and enjoy some vibrant and healthy food as well. My only qualm is that the prices are understandably not as cheap as local options and the portions could be a little bigger, but considering that’s the only fault, I’d give layback cafe a 4.7, if you’re looking for a place that’s got great wifi, scrumptious food and is a comfortable environment for spending hours at a time then Layback Cafe won’t disappoint.

I couldn't imagine that after so many fancy and delicious places at home city I can be that surprised. All dishes I had were amazing. Each bite was like a heaven. And portions are generous. Coffee is incredible here, and I'm really a coffee lover.

Wonderful place with great food, drinks and of course people. Every dish is really delicious (I tried everything 😁)! Atmosphere is great for breakfast or lunch, same as for working or having fun with friends! I highly recommend Layback for chilling and having really tasty meal! Stuff is very friendly, helpful and everyone is smiling all the time 😊

This was our first cafe upon arriving in Weligama and it really set the bar high. The service was super friendly, the food was cooked well and all with healthy ingredients, and the ice coffees were perfect for the hot day. The setting is so relaxing, I can see why people choose to work from here.

The Layback Café is the best place in Weligama to get a really good iced coffee + delicious vegan cakes! You can watch the ocean while having a cool beer, tasty cocktail or whatever you prefer! The staff is super friendly and you can easily meet new people there since it's part of one of the best surf camps in the south!

Very nice café in Weligama as a part of a surfcamp. Always kind and friendly staff and delecious food that changes, and contains both local but also all the well-known dishes. Very good for both breakfast, lunch and a coffee during the day. They also have a very nice rooftop that gives a beautiful view of Weligama and the ocean, and gives a nice break from the streets. Defiantly a recommendation!

Such a nice, sweet and really laid-back café. Both the staff and the food are amazing (and iced coffee too!!!). On the top you have view all around surf town Weligama.

I was in Weligama for one week, and tried almost the whole menu during my stay haha. The surfers super food bowl and the labneh poached eggs were my favorite dishes here. Wish I could go back right now to have the eggs again. And not unimportant: they serve very good coffee. Best coffee I’ve had in Sri Lanka! The vibe is, like name suggests, very laid-back. Perfect for an after surf breakfast, for reading a book on the rooftop or just to chill in the afternoon. Kitchen staff and all the other people working here are also amongst the nicest people I’ve met in Sri Lanka. Highly recommend!

Really nice place in heart of Weligama. You can see the whole city from rooftop area! Food is healthy, fresh and delicious! Staff always there to help you! One of favorite post surf breakfast spots in Weligama!

The staff and food at Layback Cafe are both incredible! We stayed at layback for a week so we got to try a lot of the food, every dish we tried was delicious. The staff and friendly and service was fast without making you feel rushed. Would highly recommend ☺️

This restaurant / rooftop bar is amazing. It has the best coffee (seriously great), and really good vegan fruit mango bowls. Super chill atmosphere and good wifi too. Great place to meet ppl.

We've been traveling south Sri Lanka since end of February 2023 and were looking for healthy food options that have vegan and non vegan options as my husband and I have different dietary restrictions/preferences. We were so glad we did find Layback Rooftop Restaurant via an Instagram Add, because when you walk through Weligama Centre you can pass by it easily. They serve healthy food options that are either vegan or can be made vegan and also where the staff does not use the terms vegan and vegetarian interchangeably. Like the Surfers Superfood Salad which I always ordered with Tofu and my husband with chicken. It is a well balanced salad that leaves you satisfied and full belly which is not always given in the other restaurants in the area. What was very important for us as well were the consistency of taste as you can find a lot of places in Weligama that might leave a good impression at first and the second time it may taste very different and leave you disappointed. The other thing is the amount of food and price tag. It is worth it and you leave happy and full. Same with the drinks, the lemonades come in a big jar. Specially can recommend the passion fruit lemonade as it is almost not sweet and refreshing. Other food options we liked here were the avocado toast with scrambled tofu, beans, the buffalo curd bowl and any of the smoothie bowls.

Great Coffee, awesome team and beautiful location. The Banana Buzz Brealfast Bowl is incredibly delicious. Definitely a must-go in Weligama!

I can highly recommend the café. The food is delicious and also the coffee is really great (probably one of the best I have had in Sri Lanka!). The dishes are not only delicious but also IG-worthy 😉 The staff is awesome, super friendly and easy to talk to. The vibe in generell is super relaxing, friendly and welcoming. The Wi-Fi is also working good, only exception is the upper rooftop. But the view on the rooftop is really great and probably my favourite spot in the whole building. You can easy spend a whole day here eating, drinking, working, ready a book and hanging out with friends.

Awesome! place, cozy, nice view, neat design, loved the food. Coffee was marvelous. People seem to very nice and polite as well. A real Restaurant, unlike most of the places in Weligama. Prices are moderate which is pleasant.

Exceptional! This cute cafe including the sweetest dogs and cats has the best food of Weligama. Not kidding! The staff is really sweet and take good care of you. The smoothiebowl ‘Banana Buzz’ is my favorite. They have a diverse menu, so there is something for everyone. Lots of vegetarian options. Above all a very nice atmosphere, good view, rooftop, sweet staff and great food.

The building is amazing. Food/drinks/service are good. Seating on the rooftop could be more comfortable.

Had some of the best food in whole Sri Lanka here! Really nice interior design and a lovely view from the rooftop 🌞 the staff is also extremely friendly and make every wish come true!

I included meals as part of my surf package at Layback and it was absolutely worth it. The food is so fresh and coffee’s delicious.. my favorite was the buffalo labnah on toast and caramel latte😋 thanks for the amazing staff working upfront and in the kitchen for taking care of us🙏🏼

Look no further for your regular spot. I ate here everyday and was never blown away. They have something for every type of diet not to mention fresh, colorful AMAZING salads (which if you haven't found out already is very hard to come by in Sri Lanka) The owner sources the greens from a farmer in Kandy. Best restaurant in Weligama with fair prices. You wont ever want to leave The vibe is 10/10 Food 10/10 People 15/10
