THIS IS FOR BIKERS: Google maps shows the many paths around the park as being bike friendly (solid green line). They are NOT. Lakeside Trail is really narrow, even for walking. Alpine Trail may be good for mountain biking, but that's it.

Beautiful state park. Something to do for everyone here! Hiking, boating, wildlife, swimming, fishing, and cookouts, just to name a few! Also has a large campground and a Frisbee Golf course here too. There is plenty of parking available, even on a busy day. Always a day well spent at Pinchot!

Great frisbee golf course (speaking specifically of the Conewago Day Use Area one). It was very well maintained with wide and well trimmed fairways. Holes were well marked. It was challenging but not impossible. Beach and picnic areas were very well maintained. Bathrooms were clean. Not many people there though. My wife needs a wheelchair for longer distances, but we are rather adventurous and like to try hiking trails with the wheelchair (we have really put a beating on this poor chair at times). The gravel trails are impossible for the chair as the gravel is rather loose. But we did find a trail we were able to go a good ways on. This only worked because it's been dry - otherwise it would have been too muddy. Anyway, from the north end of the Conewago Day Use Area parking lot (specifically by the handicapped parking for the fishing pier) we too the lakeside trail all the way to the intersection labeled 37. It was tough and she did get out for one very rocky stretch and walk about 50 feet, but for us it was doable, you experience may vary.

Me and my boyfriend had a BLAST! I'm typically iffy about kayaking on lakes but this was perfect! It wasn't shallow at all, the boat ramp was perfect to launch our kayaks && the weather was Beautiful. It was such perfect kayaking all around and we WILL be going back. GPS says it's 43 minutes from where I live so it's was so worth the drive.

This is a big, beautiful park with a huge lake, lots of potentials for enjoyment. Cabins, cottages, disk golf, camping, hiking, biking, kayak, canoe, paddle boats, and lots of educational and recreational programs. Visited this place early spring last year and it looks very interesting. We surely will be back this summer or early fall.

Very nice place. Stayed at the cabins for the 3rd time. 10 minutes from Roundtop ski resort. Only thing is there are animals in the ceiling. Kids freak out. You can hear them running in the night.

Great for camping! The bathrooms were clean, and there was a sink for washing dishes. The campsite we’re well maintained. The bull frogs were loud, but that’s part of the experience! Recommend swimming in the separate designated swimming area, not the swimming beach at the campsite. Overall a wonderful experience.

A great PA treasure! Due to recent storms, temperature drop, and high winds, the Beautiful Fall colors of just a few days ago, are beginning to pass their prime. Although the green leaves are giving way to bare branches, the park is still vibrant, as the yellow and orange take center stage - still ablaze in the sunlight. Low light, at sunset, is a great time for photos, and to hang out at the waterfront benches. This park doesn't "kick you out at dusk", like many others (but always check park for schedule).

I recommend Gifford Pinchot State Park. This is a great place to get away from life's rush. There are so many hidden treasures along the paths.

So much to do here! We finally decided to visit Gifford Pinchot park and I'm so glad we did! This place is huge with something for everyone: RV & camping sites, cabins, seasonal snack bar, boat rentals of every kind, a well groomed swimming beach, large picnic area adjacent to a children's play area that comes complete with a sand box area that could easily hold several sand sculptures! Outside of this area are hiking and biking trails, fishing and birding opportunities and acres and acres of peaceful nature. (Although I did see signs warning of hunting...so maybe not peaceful ALL year?) Anyway, had a great time enjoying the fall foliage with our dog (Dogs are allowed on trails as long as they're leashed) and we will definitely be back!

We have lived near and used the park extensively for nearly 30 years. The facilities and trails have gradually been improved, making for a nicer experience. There are non-powered boating, sailing, kayaking, fishing, camping, hiking, opportunities in a beautiful outdoor setting.

Lake Trail was gorgeous this week in January! A little muddy from the rain, but easy to maneuver around. Trails were well marked and very well maintained, fallen trees removed etc. Rocky in some places, so be prepared for hiking conditions, but trail is flat. Gorgeous lake views the whole way. Very easy to find Lake Trail from any parking lot and take it as far as you want. Tons of space for picnics etc in better weather. Love this park!

I stayed in the Firefly camping cottage at Gifford Pinchot campgrounds, and it was a great experience. The cottage itself was on par with similar ones I've stayed in at Codorus and Prince Gallitzin state parks. And like the one at Prince Gallitzin, there was an amazing view of the water right outside my front door, in this case less than 15 yards away (there were a lot of tenting and RV sites right on the water as well). The neighbors were close, but far enough that we could go about our own businesses or socialize as much or as little as we wanted. The bath houses are ready for some updates, but they were clean and amply heated with plenty of warm water and actual handles on the shower controls rather than the 30-second button you get in a lot of places now. There is firewood available for purchase at the entry of the campground and at least one other place inside the campground (maybe more). At $5 per bundle, it's not cheap, but not excessively expensive either. Just make sure you have cash to put in the box for it. It's an older park, so there is a lot of tree cover around the sites, which is how I personally prefer it. All-in-all, a great experience and I wouldn't hesitate to go back again or to recommend it to family and friends.

Pinchot State Park is such a beautiful place! I love going there with my friends and taking a long walk by the lake. It's so peaceful and quiet. This is definitely a place you have to experience with loved ones, or if you need some personal time. This is a great place to collect your thoughts. Also, if you love photography, this place is a must.

For the first time in our extensive travels, we ran into a campground where we simply could not fit despite planning in advance, including measuring sites online and reading all of the information posted by the park about the site size. And while the site size may be accurate, there were WAY too many obstacles in the way to maneuver our 48' fifth wheel into our site - including signs, rocks, and trees. And the alternate sites that we were given were also too small to fit into. We had to cancel our two-week reservation at the park. Fortunately, the staff were friendly and refunded all but one day, and we scrambled to find a private park in Gettysburg that had an opening. Just be warned, this park is not designed for big RVs, despite being indicated as "big rig friendly" on several sites. If you have a 35' travel trailer or less, you're probably fine.

Stayed one night as a first timer there to check it out. My site, 238, was large but pretty rocky and rooty. Campfire ring had trash plus ash in it. A lovely volunteer gentleman picked out the trash, and I called a ranger to please clean ring, which was done pretty quickly. I was a camp host for 5 weeks at a state park in Maryland, and a camp fire ring like this was never acceptable! However. I was very pleasantly surprised how quiet the loop was! No dogs barking, no wild shouting. That alone would induce me to return!

Absolutely gorgeous park. There is a surprisingly engaging community here and it makes for a relaxing and sometimes exciting time. There are a number of beautiful trails around the scenic lakeside that are an absolute must for anyone who loves a long walk.

Went to Pa to pick up some used parts, along the way i saw the sign for a park I have never heard of so we went back to explore. What a fantastic park and setting!!!! Along my hike i saw yurt and cabin rentals, I will def be back for a waterfront yurt rental. Great place to bird watch and play disc golf

Had a wonderful time at the park... First time camping at the park... Bathrooms were cleaned and showers were great as well... Sunbathe at the little beach area as well.. I had lost my keys and the office staff was very helpful in returning the keys back to me... Great place to visit...

Great place to camp. Its affordable and they have full hook ups. They do have nature events where your kids can learn about nature from certified instructors. Campground was neat, check in was easy, site was not very wide, but it was very long which also works. The swimming lake in the campground is nice and large. The lake also has sand which is great for simulating a beach environment with out the undertow. While their are dog restrictions in the campground, the state park portion and the day use area is different, Dogs are allowed everywhere.

We love going here to take walks and fish. My kids also love the playgrounds. Summer time is good for swimming! Just watch when a lot of rain has gone through, sometimes swimming will be closed.

We stayed here for a week and prior to arrival I read some reviews that had me concerned, one mentioned not feeling safe and some mentioned mosquitoes. We felt very safe there and the mosquitoes are no worse than anywhere. It's a nice campground and we enjoyed our stay.

It's a nice state park to walk, wasn't packed, the few people there were nice and the lady in the ranger station was real helpful in giving us areas to go for the best birding.

Great trails around the lake! Some areas you can stop at the waters edge and enjoy the view of the lake.
