Very interesting! Must visit if you enjoy history, particularly war history! The Fort was built with organization in mind.. it awaits you here at Fort De Soto, declared a national historical landmark in 1977 and recently as a local historical landmark by Pinellas County in 2014. This peninsula is a treasure to the history of our nation. It was so intriguing to learn (quite mind boggling too) the ingenious men who defended our country! They engineered and manufactured weapons, built housing, created food sources, and produced massive mortars containing incredible force and magnitude, we could strike targets up to 6 miles away! The Fort shows the unique approach men used while defending our nation! The walkway built (above the Fort) has many steps leading to the rooftop, providing spectacular beach and ocean views.

We visited Fort Desto Park it was beautiful easy access to the beaches serval parks and boat ramps, fishing lots to do! Beautiful greenery we got a chance to take some beautiful photos. The Fort itself was I interesting not much to it to really see but the view from the top of the Fort is amazing!! You do have to put to enter the park before 5pm at the gate. But the park is open until dark fall bring bug repellent the mosquitoes and bugs are horrible but hey it’s Florida! Enjoy

Always love when I can visit this park! So much History and they keep making it better. Things that need important repairs: many of the docks have dangerous protruding screws where the bumpers used to be and many are missing cleats. Solar powered lights at the end of the docks for night entry would be nice and improve safety for those coming in after sunset or leaving before sunrise.

The dog beach here is awesome! There was so much room for the dogs to be off leash and enjoy the beach and run. It was super busy when we went but I really dogs were being watched and it was clean! Owners picked up after their dogs. There was a rinse off area for dogs in both the small and large dog park. Definitely want to go back! Area was well maintained and worth the drive (from Gainesville, FL). Was not surprised there was an entrance fee because it’s a state park but keep in mind it is $5.

OMG 22 boat launches, how awesome! Very clean.. had few bathroom stalls to use. We went to shell island from here and we could check out the awesome boats while we waited..

Beautiful place to put your boat in the water. Plenty of parking and lots of local wildlife too!

Always lots of space and ramps to allow Fort De Soto to operate as one of the larger boat ramps around.

Great quiet beaches & picnic grounds. Fort is interesting. Boat ramps are spacious. Avoid rush hour on your way though!

One of my favorite boat ramps in the tampa area! Everyone is very friendly, good price to park, and I can usually get the car with trailer into a spot no matter how busy it is there, and I’ve only been driving the boat with trailer for a year! Gets pretty slippery so just be careful when walking into the water to unhitch the boat! But that’s to be expected.

Lots of room and plenty of parking. Only complaint would be they really need to replace the side guards on the docks to keep from damaging the side of your boat. Make sure you have bumpers because there are actual nails protruding from the docks that will kill your boat's finish.

Nice place, lots and lots of ramps and seemingly infinite parking. The pass leading out to the Gulf (Bunces Pass) can get a little hairy when there is a stiff (>10 mph) wind coming from the Gulf, as you can find yourself facing breaking waves in every direction as you exit the pass. I made it out fine in a 2000 lb, 17 foot sailboat, but it was a little bouncy. Leaving to the east toward the Skyway there is a fixed bridge that some sailboats may have a hard time getting under.

Very easy to get your boat in and out at this ramp. Plenty of jetski, fishing, pleasure, and pontoon boats launch from here. Parking is 5 or 6 dollars. Pay with card at meter. Bathrooms and trash available. This is also where Egmont key ferry launches from. I'd recommend getting there by 930/10 or you will be parking in the grass.

Much better than last time as we went on a weekday. Instead of the parking jam-packed at 6 in the morning there were only a few boats heading out. A game warden pulled up when we returned to the ramps and as we were getting ready to put the boat on the trailer to check or catch for any illegal fish but we know the rules and follow them.

Good shelling . Ferry boat captain was informative. Overall nice relaxing time.

It serves the purpose, but is not kept up very well considering you have to pay to park. The area is beautiful though!

Park rangers are an absolute joke. Kicking a father and son off for fishing the docks on a dead Sunday morning with nobody around. It’s absolutely ridiculous and wrong and you guys know it, you should be ashamed. It’s a boat ramp, it’s the ocean, it’s America. You can go pound sand.
