This place is a hidden gem. The food is of any fine dining restaurant in NY. I have eaten here many times and never disappointed. Tonight Nick bartenteder and Kyle server did an excellent job in making the delicious meals that much more enjoyable. No matter what drink you order Nick aces it. We had rum runners not even on there chart but don’t matter to Nick. The salads are out if this world followed by there Salomon and I had the shrimp/lobster over zucchini. This place is second to none and very reasonable!

Something not right? The atmosphere was pretty good, the menus were filled with great choices, the food well prepared, oh and I'd recommend the pear martini and pear cider both very refreshing. However, something just not right: the server looked like a "busboy". forgot to bring us table settings after our app arrived(but Muscles Fra Diablo was excellent btw), never removed apps when meal arrived(although very tasty skirt steak entree) didn't fill water glass, asked how our meal was as he passed by us with a filled garbage can, was just not right! Maybe there was a reason for all this but the critic in me has to let you know. Too bad, with a little leadership this could have been a lot better! Please try this place out and lmk what you think.

I wish I could leave a better review for Horace & Sylvia's because the food was great! However, like many other reviews before mine, I found the service to be terribly slow. My friend and I sat at the bar, and the bartender barely paid us any attention. In fact, my friend had to call him over from across the room because we had been waiting so long with no one taking our order. After we finally ordered our app and the entrees , the food was absolutely delicious, so hats off to the chef(s). However, again, when we wanted to pay our bill, the bartender paid us no mind and was too busy talking to his friends and coworkers about "hookup etiquette." None of this would have bothered me if I was not so hungry, if there was another bartender, or if the place was crowded. However, seeing as none of these were the case, I was pretty frustrated with how we were treated. I really hope this place works on their service because their food is divine!

I live in Florida. I was planning my 40th HS reunion for July in NY. I wanted the food to be over the top delicious. I wanted a lobster bake! A great lobster bake! Horace and Sylvia's delivered. Our party consisted of 50 ppl. Carl and his crew set up the grills and the equipment outside and got things going. They were well equipped and very professional.Carl was excellent with communication. Everything was cooked to perfection. Generous portions. There was so much food that ppl took leftovers in to go containers. We opted for the lobster bake which consisted of 1 1/4lb lobster, mussels and clams, marinated chicken 1/2 lb burgers, Boars's Head hot dogs, local corn, pasta salad, potato salad, Caesar salad. We plan on eating at the restaurant in the near future.

I wanted to like this place more. The waitress was so nice and she tried but she couldn't keep up with the tables. Glasses and finished plates weren't cleared. I waited forever for a second round of drinks. Cake came out without the requested birthday candle. Flounder was good but it came with a too simple steamed broccoli wasn't worth the price even as a 'special'. Kids ice cream had nothing on it but a scoop of vanilla. Drinks were expensive (but I guess all restaurants are that way now). The ceiling vents were all dripping water into our drinks and food. I would not go back or recommend. 400$ including tip for 5 adults and 3 kids.

Came for lunch. Recently renovated. Sat in a booth, was hard and uncomfortable. Appreciated the interesting salad offering which was avocado with heart of palm. Margarita was $15...a bit steep. Parking is annoying..meters on street.

I ordered chicken sorrentino no taste and parts of the chicken were hard. Not enjoyable at all! I wanted marinated skirt steak but only Demi glaze now. The best thing was the salted caramel cheesecake and the waitress was a doll and didn’t rush us. I won’t be going back.

Had lunch here for the first time today and everything was great!! The food was delicious, and the service was even better. Can’t say enough good things about our server, Dylan, who went above and beyond to cater to us. He was so friendly and kind, and we will definitely be back because of his outstanding service & the wonderful food.

The Bartender name cris is rude. We are watching the game and he change the channel. I asked why he said he's costumer in the bar are priorities. Wow never hear that excuse before.Hailey our server is nice but slow.the food is ok.not recommended.

First time eating here ordered the marinated skirt steak which came out cut into slices! The steak was very tough with some pieces that were not able to be chewed. Skirt steak is a dish I order frequently from many different places and never once in my life has it come out sliced. It didn’t even taste like skirt steak and I believe that it was sliced to hide the fact that it was not skirt steak but a different cut of meat. Then there was a mistake in the kitchen wishing resulted in one of our meals coming out very late when everyone else was already done with their meals. The server did take it off the bill without me having to ask. The other food was all just average. The best part of our visit was the server!! As far as the place goes it’s very run down with water stained ceiling times and A/C vents covered in black dust. The vestibule before entering the restaurant had a foul odor almost like urine. Will definitely not be returning

We hosted a baby shower at Horace & Sylvia’s, and it was absolutely perfect. Great&clean space, the food was delicious, and the service put it over the top! The owner and staff were so accommodating and generous. From setting up decor, the service, and clean up… they went above and beyond!! I HIGHLY recommend this Babylon village GEM!

Wow Just Wow First time in forever that we ordered from here, why did I wait so long. Everything we ordered was delicious and fresh, the meatloaf was to die for, the crazy good motzorell bites were an unexpected treat. My Burger on the English muffin was delicious. The Fries were out of this world, we will be making this a regular place from here on forward

Service was super friendly and attentive. We were seated right away and immediately greeted by our server. I had special Cordon on Blu and boyfriend had Short Ribs. We enjoyed both meals, very tasty and perfect size. Only downside is place is definitely a little outdated and needs an uplift but otherwise clean.

My wife and I have been to Horace and Sylvia’s a few times and it’s has been amazing each time. This time, we were unfortunately there for an after funeral luncheon, but everything was absolutely phenomenal. Every person was so kind, compassionate, and accommodating (special thanks to Jillian, Brittany and Nick). They took the stress of having to plan an event of this type and made it a seamless process. The food was absolutely unreal and the party package prices were unbeatable. We had our own private area and the food and drinks were plentiful. I highly recommend anyone to try Horace and Sylvia’s for their next event or for a nice evening out. You won’t be disappointed!

Came for our Grandson's christening. Lovely service at St. Joseph's. Then a small gathering at the restaurant. Good food and great service. We must have been there when the kitchen was preparing chicken cutlets. Lots of banging, I guess flattening cutlets for for dinner. We were there around lunchtime. Otherwise a very homey affordable restaurant.

We had our sons baptism at Horace & Sylvias in January of 2022, and what a great experience it was. Carl was great to work with in scheduling the event and ensured we were having a great time throughout the entire event. Our number of people decreased due to covid, but it was not a problem at all - it was great to have one less worry on the day of. The pre-fix menu was extensive and the food was not only DELICIOUS, but the portions were large as well. Everyone raved about their food and how lovely the staff was. Highly recommend to anyone for their special day.

Would have every special event hosted here and would recommend to everyone!! Thanks for making my daughters special day a beautiful memory!

Waitstaff very friendly and attentive! We stopped in on a December Sunday after the Village Tree Lighting ceremony at dinnertime and found the restaurant filled and busy! Unfortunately, it appears that none of the other patrons had ordered the chicken wing appetizers...as the order of wings we received was terribly dried out! BBQ sauce was a nice flavor, but those puppies had been sitting around way too long. The fried zucchini appetizer was good. Light batter and gently seasoned and served with sour cream horseradish sauce. The four shrimp were delicious, cooked just right with a powerfully succulent & spicey sauce. Alas, we were so disappointed with the deserts. Avoid the donut holes with ice cream. That's exactly what you get: donuts that were cooked 12 hours ago with a drizzle of caramel on vanilla ice cream. Nothing hot and soft and goey! I don't recommend selecting the raspberry sorbet as the brand H&S serve is just too sweet to eat. One more thing, ask for a fresh pot of decaf. Ours tasted like it was on the burner for too long.

Went to a baby shower here this past Sunday. It was great, food was delicious, bartenders and wait staff were amazing! The only negative was the shower was scheduled until 4, but at 3:30 everyone was cleaning up and it felt like we were being rushed out as another party was entering. Like I said service and everything was fantastic, just wish they did a better job with their scheduling.

While I enjoyed the rustic atmosphere and wall murals, I found the menu entrees lacking in simple meals for people like myself, who must watch their diet for medical reasons. The meals listed was very rich and elegant w mushrooms and vegetables that many people have problems digesting. I was all set to order meatloaf until I found out it was baked w mushrooms. But I'm sure the general public would enjoy these offerings.🙂👍

Came here for dinner before a show at the Argyle Theater. LA Famigilia, right next to Theater not only wouldn't take a reservation for 4, but the owner/manager was very rude and condescending. I've come to Horace and Sylvia many times, nothing but great service and food

Went there for happy hour . Bar was packed and very loud. Party? A little pricey for my pocket being we couldn't take advantage of the happy hour specials as they were only served in the bar area. Will try again one day

Food was so so but service was horrible. 6pm reservations on a Friday night, place was nearly empty but still took 2 hrs with no desserts. Waiters were young kids who were not polite at all and basically threw silverware at us. This place used to be very nice. Won’t be back.

The manager and staff could not be more helpful and kind. We had a wonderful flawless experience for my granddaughter’s 1st birthday party! A big thank you!

I threw my wife a surprise 40th birthday party and cannot say enough about how awesome everything was. I would give 6 stars if possible. Food was outrageous, staff was amazing, courteous and attentive! The drinks were excellent. They were made properly and weren’t lacking in the liquor. They say, you get what you pay for and that might be the best part. I looked at over a dozen venues who seemed to think I was throwing a wedding with their prices per person. Horace and Sylvia’s was it only extremely affordable, I can’t imagine getting better service for the price. If your looking for a venue for a party or just a small gathering, let me save you time. Stop looking elsewhere and head over to Horace and Sylvia’s!

The entire experience was horrible from beginning to end. It took 20 minutes from the time we were sat for a server to come over to even take a drink order. At that time we put in drinks and food. My husband and myself ordered sandwiches, one son ordered a kids burger and the other had wings. It took over an hour and 15 minutes for the food to come out. It wasn’t just our table. There was another table that had tickets to a show and had to take their food to go because it took so long. I got a pastrami sandwich. It had maybe 2 slices of pastrami on the entire sandwich. My son’s burger was ordered medium. It was so burnt that he didn’t even eat it. My husbands sandwich was supposed to be on toasted Texas toast. It was just plain bread. The bathrooms were so horrendously disgusting. Our server was very sweet and kept apologizing for the wait and kept saying it was just so busy. Honestly, not even all the tables were full. There were plenty of open tables so it wasn’t that busy. If they are understaffed that’s understandable, then don’t seat people that you can’t serve. We were extremely disappointed. This place is not inexpensive so to pay those prices for that experience is completely unacceptable.

Idk where the chicken was for 30 dollars but there’s a picture of it. The biscuits to start came out burnt twice (idk why they bothered remaking it) and the other meal, cold zucchini, uncooked “prosciutto” and idk how can you can do this but the cheese was a broiled dried out piece of string ? Idk how to describe. I’m only posting this to do anyone i favor in time of inflation. Don’t waste your money here. The waitress was nice. Also could not see the menu in the back room by the kitchen, which by the way you can hear everything. For a town like Babylon I’m surprised … actually not really.
