This has the potential to be as great as it once was but the amount of things that are broken or in need of a refresh make it worth about half the price of admission. My kids had an ok time but for what we paid, we expected more. Pictured are just a few things that we saw that were broken. There were more but I only started taking pictures on th second floor. Plus, worth noting that if you want to use the old school movie machine you need to bring pennies.

We went for the first time today. It was amazing. My 3 year old loved it. I would really dedicate 3 hours if you really want to see, play and read about everything. We’ll definitely be back.

Came in from Florida to visit family and wanted to take the kids somewhere fun for the day. Turns out, LICM is part of a passport program with our Science Center. So we were able to get in for free! This place is amazing. The bubbles, all the hands exhibits, etc are great! Wish we had something like this near us!

A great educational and fun experience for the kids! 2 floors of a variety of activities. Ideal for toddlers and older. They have a woodshop area that helps the kids with their hammering skills. An art area for them to glue/color to their creative hearts extent. They also have a great bubble area, along with many educational and interactive exhibits. Can easily spend a few hours here, and it's only $15!!

When my daughter was younger, we used to visit Long Island Children Museum frequently. As a matter of fact, a group of us used to visit the museum. Its educational, interactive and fun at the same time. There is a cafeteria but you can bring your own food and eat at the cafeteria. There is also a changing station for babies and parking was not a problem. I highly recommend for all parents and those who care for children to visit this museum. I found some old photos when my daughter was pretty young.

Very fun place for kids so much to see and do. Masks required thank goodness. A little chaotic/ crowded but worth it for the kids. Pricing is very reasonable for amount of activities available

There were so much to do and explore in Long Island Children Museum. It was great for younger kids. My 4 years old and 6 years old had a great time there. The dinosaur exhibit was awesome. They also included the Dino roaring to make it real. Both my kids loved the climbing experience and they spent a good amount of time climbing up and down. They also loved the building area which they could build structures and other stuff with big building blocks. The museum was kept cleaned and organized. The parking lot is relatively small, but free parking.

I was so disappointed with my last attempt to visit the LICM. My kids were so excited to finally be able to go back but it ended with meltdowns and disappointments… First I feel it is ridiculous to require a 2 year old to have to wear a mask. Not to mention I had two employees staring at me struggling with my little one. And one made a comment about the masks my children were wearing. I was so upset that we had to leave because of this. My older two children were so disappointed that we had to leave. I am not sure when I will be back as I am member but I will subject myself or children to this kind of environment.

Great, fun, and clean museum for kids. My kid was overwhelmed. He played in the small kids room for a bit of a long time. The only downside is that this place doesn’t have a cafeteria with food. They have plenty of party rooms for families to have bday parties, but ultimately my son and I had to sit outside on their picnic tables and eat lunch that I luckily brought for him.

We came here to see the very Eric Carle exhibit. Within 5 minutes the fire alarm came on. Everyone had to exit through out the emergency doors. Everything was fine we all went back in shortly afterwards.

We went to watch the play Butterfly with our five year old granddaughter. It was a fine presentation and well written and choreographed. The live theater is under appreciated and from what I’ve seen a real treasure for the young kids.

The Dino show is fine. Overall the museum has a lot of stuff going on. It is a bit crowded at the weekend. If you live close you can come during weekdays to enjoy individual activities. During weekend it is more like a quick tour of everything.

The Long Island Children's Museum is a delightful place for kids and families alike. With its interactive exhibits and hands-on activities, it offers a fantastic learning experience in a fun and engaging way. The museum's staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to assist and educate. From science and art to culture and play, there's something for children of all ages to enjoy. It's a great destination for a day of exploration and creativity. However, it can get crowded on weekends, so consider visiting during off-peak hours for a more relaxed experience. Overall, it's a top-notch museum that fosters curiosity and imagination in young minds.

Great place for the little ones to run around and explore. I'm excited to bring my kids when get a little older too so they can really appreciate all of the learning opportunities they have embedded in all of their exhibits and displays. The "school bus room", right after you show that you paid, is a great enclosed space for 1-4 year olds to explore without having to chase after your easily distracted kiddos. I love that they rotate exhibits so if you do buy a membership, your kids won't get bored of seeing the same things over and over. Some areas don't change like the bubbles, the "tools" area where your kids can build things (must be 5 and older to hammer) and do crafts (not in your house). You can take home their creations too so maybe plan for that towards the end so you don't have to hold it the whole time. Be aware on weekends and rainy days it can definitely get crowded! Also check your library. Some allow you to reserve passes so you don't have to pay the entrance fee (it adds up if you bring along extra hands to keep track of the kids). Like others have said, don't expect to buy lunch there because they really only have vending machines, but if you bring your own food or snacks there's a few locations with cafeteria style tables to eat at. Depending on the exhibit, I've been there when they had vendors selling food that correlated to that theme but it doesn't seem consistent, just a nice surprise.

Came here during a weekday with my 4 month old son. There was no wait and not much of a crowd. My son is still too young to do a lot of things, but he absolutely loved watching many of the interactive exhibits!

Wow experience! We have been to Brooklyn and Manhattan Children's Museum, but I can say that LICM will still surprise you. They have a great climbing experience for kids, a bubble factory, very useful exhibition about how and what animals eat.

Very interesting place for curios and energetic kids. They have opportunity to learn through experiences offered by the expositions. Unfortunately close very early (3pm) specially considering the a summer break. However this museum is part os the project Museum for All offering tickets at very accessible price for those with EBT card.

The best children's museum ever. So many activities, shows and things to do for all ages even teenagers. The price is great and the whole family can stay for hours or as long as you like. I also like the fact that they have an indoor and outdoor. I would definitely recommend this Children's museum to anyone that wants the children and adults to have a good time. 👍🏾

This is a great venue for kids (and adults) to learn. Plenty of parking and the staff are courteous. The rotary phone (and one of many displays) brought back nostalgia. The kids had a blast, they did not want to leave. My 7 y/o enjoyed the mini wood work and climbing exhibit, and my twin monsters enjoyed playing with the instruments and making bubbles.

A lot of creative and inspiring sets available for different age groups. Truly enjoyed a number of interactive projects with my 4 and half years old, like guess y/n what animal's diet, wall building, bubble physics, wooden blocks construction, craft center and much more. There's always new theme/exhibition available throughout the year. Families could spend hours inside exploring new things. There's also a lovely garden outside featuring water and sand activities, what a plus! The museum shop is also nice.

Amazing experience at the Firefighters Museum with my son. Not only did he enjoy it, but it was a great experience for me. We learned so many interesting facts and saw tons of antique fire trucks. In addition there were a lot of interactive experiences plus a dress up area. Highly recommended for kids and adults.

Visiting NY from Texas and had the day to spend doing something. Found this place and took my daughter to it. We spent 2½ hrs but would have been nice if we had another hour to spend. Place is GREAT for kids and adults. There are plenty of science related showpieces and working displays. Kids can tinker around with most of the exhibits. It's worth at least one visit and perhaps two if you spend more time on each display. Staff is friendly and helpful. There was a build-a-craft event and that was fun. We came on a week day and so it wasn't crowded. My only gripe is that there's no option to grab a bite. There's a break room with vending machines, but the one we wanted to use wasn't working.

Had a great time here. The first hour is only open to members only; kids 1 yr old and younger are free so we had to pay for a ticket for our 1.5 yr old but it was definitely worth it! There's a lot to do - different sections for playing with bubbles, running around a "city playground", drumming up music, building blocks, and much more. There is an outdoor garden so kids can play with water as well. Our daughter could have spent the entire day here if it were up to her!

Really great, fun, interactive place for kids of different ages. I went with multiple children aged five and younger. They had the best time. They especially loved making giant bubbles and sock skating. It is relatively small so as not to be overwhelming or difficult to navigate with young children. The kids even did a project and the staff was very helpful (which was appreciated - because I was one adult with a few small chiildren). The only issue was the oldest child was the only one tall enough to go in the climbing section and old enough to hammer nails into wood in the tool area.Thankfully a staff member helped him while I took care of the others. Went during school break- so it was very crowded. Would probably be better at a less busy time. The kids asked when we can go back.

Fantastic place for kids! We have a family membership and it's definitely paid for itself after 3 visits. Great place to keep them busy and let them explore for a few hours. The kids favorites are the building blocks, toddler area (5 and under), music room and bubbles. In the summer the outside water area is a lot of fun too. You can bring your lunch or a snack and eat it in the cafeteria, which also has vending machines which is a plus. Also has a good size parking and overflow lot too.

Cute spot to take the kids on a Saturday. Lots of I Tera time things for them to do. Had a 6yr old and an 11 yr old and both had fun. Some of the stuff seems a tad bit old but they were good abt cleaning stuff. There was a cute news booth as well with a teleprompter.

There's so much to do here! Indoor sandboxes and a carpeted jungle gym, plenty of "how things work" displays and a nice gift shop with fairly standard prices. When we went, they were doing a "make your own dinosaur puppet," and we loved the radio station room where you can record your own broadcast and commercial. You can also use hammers and nails to make your own toy out of wood! Love the educational spin on fun. It's a bit of a hike for us, but we're looking forward to going back. Worth the trip! (And there's plenty of parking in the back when the front fills up, like when the kids are off from school.) You can also check to see if you can get passes from your local library - and then admission is free!

Love this museum. Kids young and old had such a great time. We spent around 4 hours playing as a family. Plenty of staff to clean or help. Fairly clean bathrooms. Christmas eve was a perfect time to visit. It was almost empty. It cost around $14 per person but we used our science museum pass that reciprocate which got in two adults and two children free.

I took my 1 year old son and my little sister here and they both had an amazing time. My son is just learning to walk and has only done so at home but was so excited and comfortable here that he walked all over the place! There was so much to do and so many things to explore. They both had such a blast and can't wait to go back.

  • 5/5 Avery S. 2 years ago on Google
Excellent experience here. Activities were geared more for two and up, but still a fun place to roam around and explore for a 1-2 walker. The museum is well maintained. Every exhibit was in good working order, well spaced out, and very clean. Great for an indoor play day when the weather is cold or wet.

Be aware of Members only time that’s only sometimes enforced. My husband and I took my children (2 and 1) over mid winter break. We got there around 10:15 only to find out that members are only allowed in from 10-11 and because it was a holiday and they “have to stick to their policy.” The website uses only an asterisk to refer to these special hours. And their google profile has absolutely no mention of this. For the people running this museum: you can add a special set of hours to your google profile, and it would be best to do the same on your website. Making it an afterthought causes a lot of confusion, we were not the only ones with this issue. We decided to wait, but their female bathroom was out of order and they wouldn’t let us use the bathroom in the museum until I told them that I have just potty trained my 2 yr old. They watched us as if we were crooks. Once we finally got in at 11 the place was overwhelming to say the least. Too many people were let in at the same time. On the front they had a sign that said last admission is 2 so in effect you can only come from 11-2 if your not a member and they close at 4. I wouldn’t suggest going back over a break/holiday week. Sometimes the kids where overwhelm and pushed by older kids or adults (not maliciously the museum was at capacity). Overall not the best experience.

It's GREAT - just not on a weekend. Too crowded. Take a morning or afternoon off on like.. a Tuesday.

  • 1/5 Greg K. 6 months ago on Google
The facility is well intentioned. However was disappointed to see how dirty the place felt, with many toys broken. Also a lack of staff that I feel should be helping clean up and maintain a bit of order. As some children can be very aggressive. Leaving it to parents to be diplomatic if another checked out parent hits your child etc. Also quite expensive given these circumstances

Great museum with lots of engaging and hands on activities. Some activities for kids 2 years of age. More appropriate for kids ages 4-8. The climbing section starts at 42 in. 2 floors of fun and a great open dining room for you to bring your own food with high chairs for the kids!

  • 5/5 Andrea M. 1 year ago on Google
Great place to bring toddlers and little kids. There is always a new rotating exhibition. There is also a toddler room, which is really well equiped and mimicking a town. It has a light house, train, library, construction site, market, ice cream shop and a bridge. My son loved it! The rest of the museum is very interactive with a lot of lessons to learn from nature to physics. There is an awesome bubble section on the ground floor.. super fun! Some libraries offer passes for this museum and it is also part of the Museums4All program. Highly recommended.

Nice, interactive children museum. There are always new exhibits. Good for kids under 12. Visit on a weekday. Mondays in the summer there are no summer camps visits. The place was nice and cool in 95 degrees day. See if you can a discount admission. Regular price is not worth paying.

Wonderful place, with plenty of parking, friendly attendants and staff. Great science oriented exhibits and even a nice backyard water/plant/digging zone for the most active kids. Two floors make it a worthwhile visit for a half or whole day, plus a good gift shop. Plenty of bathrooms and even a cafeteria is on offer! A+ would definitely recommend!

LICM is a great place for your toddlers and little kids. There are always hands on activities, things to do, things to look at, things to climb on and things to learn from. The bubble room, giant suspended playset, communications room, pattern area are fun. Keep in mind height restrictions for suspended playset. They serve no food, but have a great cafeteria with vending machines where you can buy a snack or enjoy any food you want to bring with you. It's worth a visit but not sure about annual membership.

I went recently to the LICM with my 5yo nephew. The most important thing to me in the current climate is safety and cleanliness and the nailed both of them. The staff was super friendly and very of top of wiping everything down that could have been touched by anyone. Great experience and I felt both my nephew and I were safe.

Plenty of educational fun for tots and school age kids. There’s lots of space for the kids to run, climb, build and explore indoors. We enjoy the classic exhibits like the blocks, bubble room, sensory room, as well as the temporary exhibits. In the warmer months, the side yard transforms to a gardening and water play area.
