Nice little museum right by downtown Sayville. Entry fee was reasonable and staff/volunteers were all very friendly. The museum has several buildings with active boat building for charity and displays. Stop by if you are in the area!

LIMM is an excellent place to have fun learning about local maritime history in a gorgeous setting. Situated on the Great South Bay, exhibits and activities for young and old alike. Spend the afternoon, you won’t regret it. Book a sail on Priscilla for an amazing experience as well.

The food trucks were basic. The funnel cake was great. There were some technical difficulties, but the pirates. The pirate were everything! Funny, charming and they worked hard to make my son comfortable enough for a photo. They are five star pirates!

A hidden gem of a museum and sailing experience. This museum presents a most significant yet oft overlooked piece of Long Island history. Exhibits educate without overwhelming...some reading, some viewing, some listening and even being able to physically interact with artifacts. Sailing on the oyster sloop Priscilla is icing on the cake. Being able to experience firsthand the life of mariners on a genuine 19th century sloop is one of the most effective and memorable ways to experience and appreciate history. If anyone ever says there's nothing fun or interesting to do on Long Island...send them here, and come yourself. You will not be disappointed!

This is a lovely place to walk around and enjoy the day. I do think they need to do some updates on the piers (redo the wood and such). Also, I think it'd be good if they left the bathrooms open as long as the grounds are open.

Had my wedding ceremony on the docks in July which offered us exactly what we were looking for. If I remember correctly they require $200 to reserve the date, $200 as a donation and $100 photography permit. This only grants you access to their property grounds ONLY, the museum and bathrooms were closed since our wedding took place at 6pm. Once the ceremony was over my guest had a take very short walk to adjacent property to the mansion at west sayville for the reception. If your a boater or looking for a natural setting on the water this offers an affordable way to do so. I also just went on numerous occasions just to enjoy the scenery however the beach has a ton of seaweed which was a minor setback.

Good place to come even though the buildings are closed for a little walk with the kids. You can walk up to the boats in the dock and peak into the windows of the ship building houses. If you’re looking for a quick thing to do with the kids to get out of the house during this whole mess you could do a lot worse! Hardly anyone else there!

Great Place for Every Season I love to visit here different times, because the view and landscape always changes,,even in the warmest months..Plus when you tour the Museum, you learn so much about the Baymen, and the boating history of Long Island..and that Blue Point is home to those tasty crustaceans. It's a great place for a summer picnic , casual date or family time.

Went to hear a lecture on haunted spots on Long Island. Staff very friendly and plenty of parking. I'm not big into Maritime history but I think this museum is a little gem and it is so important to preserving Long Island's history as it relates to the water that surrounds us.

Went to the Halloween boat burning, it was fun. But this place had probably over 1500 people at the event and you had 2 porter potties, you locked the regular restrooms for no reason. This was by far the worst organized event I ever attended and you could have caused serious harm

It was our first time visiting and we set up a homeschool field trip. The inside museum is very small but has a lot of interesting things to see. There are other buildings and things to see on the property as well. We also received an educational demonstration from one of the docents all about how he test the water and the weather and uses the instruments. Kids enjoyed it.

I signed up for a 2 hour sailing tour on the Priscilla through the LI Maritime Museum and it was a blast. My 5 year old son and I had a great time. The captain and crew were very knowledgeable and professional. They were generous with their time and knowledge and answered all of my curious child’s questions. I couldn’t have hoped for a better experience. We will definitely do another trip in the future.

Disheartening to find that a fully restored tug built in the 1800’s was donated for preservation of the historic mark it left in the history of North Port. This “museum” allowed the ship to decay, sink at the dock then dismantle it and make the pilot house a playground while the hull sat in the weeds rotting. How can one show respect to this place when they don’t value and respect such donations.

A really nice place to get to know the boating history of Long Island. The man at the front desk was extremely knowledgeable and gave a very thorough overview of the museum and it's history. We came on a drizzly rainy day so it wasn't too nice to walk outside but on a nice day it would be a beautiful place to walk around. Highly recommended as a way to get to know some Long Island history.

This place is so beautiful. A lot to see and during the off peak times a great place for family photos or even a picnic. The Seafood festival of Sayville is held here and that is always a great time!!

An absolutely wonderful place, so grateful for all of the local history they've made available to the community. Such a humbling experience to realize the dedication and hard work that makes this place home. Such a feeling I get seeing how my family played such an important role in the wonderful history of West Sayville.

If you love on Long Island you must visit this museum. It has a great selection of boats, some restored, from the islands history. They also have a shop on premise where practice the old ways of wooden ship building.

Great history from the maritimes! Nice to hear the stories told and see the artifacts and buildings that are behind the stories. Couldn't help but get as enthusiastic as the people that work so hard to keep the history alive. Highly recommend a trip. Beautiful grounds!
