This
was
my
3rd
time
visiting
'Rise'
and
my
first
in
their
new
location
in
Wheatley
Heights.
Despite
a
fair
entry
fee
and
their
best
efforts
to
put
on
a
good
time,
the
show
still
hasn't
quite
found
its
feet.
Everytime
they
add
something
new,
they
take
something
away.
In
2018,
there
were
lots
of
intricately-detailed
small
sculptures
but
only
a
few
of
the
more
impressive
larger
ones.
The
following
year,
they
removed
ALL
the
large
sculptures.
Now
they
have
A
LOT
more
large
sculptures
but
ZERO
of
the
smaller
ones.
This
has,
allegedly,
been
done
in
the
name
of
balancing
cost
vs.
customer
demand,
with
COVID
undoubtedly
complicating
things
even
further.
But
lest
the
new
'Rise'
be
all
gloom
and
doom,
I'm
happy
to
report
that
the
trail
is
much
longer
than
before.
Just
please
use
caution
if
you're
handicapped
or
disabled.
The
paths
may
now
be
all
paved,
but
they're
steeper
than
before,
as
one
gentleman
on
a
scooter
I
observed
going
way
too
fast
downhill
found
out
the
hard
way
(he
was
OK).
The
crowds
are
much
thinner,
so
much
easier
to
take
pictures.
And
they've
made
more
of
an
effort
to
appeal
to
kids
of
all
ages
(not
just
the
ones
without
driver's
licenses).
On
the
flip
side,
the
merch
and
food
tents
are
missed,
and
even
though
the
large
pumpkin
displays
might
be
back,
they're
of
startingly
varying
quality,
as
I've
highlighted
below.
There
are
far
worse
ways
to
spend
your
Halloween,
and
if
you
have
kids,
this
place
is
a
shoe-in.
I
have
hopes
that
'Rise'
will
settle
into
its
new
location
by
next
year
and
reclaim
its
former
glory.
