This is such a fabulous historical site and the model for a lot of the Rhode Island mansions. Unfortunately, a lot of damage was done to this place in the past and this mansion appears to really lack funding to make necessary repairs. The condition of the second floor is horrible, like an abandoned Detroit house. No lighting, water damage all over the place and no maintenance on the second floor. With sufficient funding to repair and remodel, this mansion could restore its past glory and could be a very great place to visit. The Tour guide and the staff are passionate and proud about their job. We are grateful to have them look after this great place.

The amazing thing about this mansion is that it pre dates Newport! The house is magnificent any time of year but at the holidays when it is decorated the house exudes a special charm. The collections are amazing. The behind the scenes tour of the upstairs where the staff lived should not be missed. The china collection is also amazing and the story of how it came back to the house is fascinating. The woodwork and elegance throughout is beautiful. This is truly a Connecticut gem.

Beautiful mansion. Informative and interesting tour. The house is exquisite and the detail is beyond any of the other mansions I have toured. Definitely worth taking.

Really enjoyed the tour! It is sad that, unlike the Newport Mansions (RI), this historical building has not been restored to a better degree/state... Tour guide, Barbara, was very knowledgeable and showed lots of love for the mansion. Hoping they’re able to get funding/grants to bring this grand mansion to full renovation!

This incredible home built in 1864-1868 for $2 Million has absolutely amazing woodwork and features. Although only the first floor is open for the holiday season tours, it was well worth the trip. We will definitely go back in the summer to see the second floor.

The mansion happily surprised me by its size and grandeur. I did not expect a tour to take an hour and a half but we went over by a bit and I would have been very happy to see and learn more. Janis (our docent) was knowledgeable and entertaining with the history of the owners, mansion and United States over the course of this home's existence. Beautiful treasure saved from oblivion by people who care.

Went here for the annual Christmas tree tour and it was cool. The Christmas display wasn’t as big as I had anticipated, but still a good excuse to visit a place with great history. Amazing and intricate woodwork and architecture has been and continues to be restored. Can’t wait for the basement to be done!

After long trip the museum was closed. Following google maps info show up as open. However, I enjoyed taking pictures and reading about the history.

The docent was clearly spoken, and so friendly! The man's grandfather was a chauffeur there so he was basically part of the exhibition himself, and he gave us directions to basically the best pizza I've ever had, just as a side reccomendation. Worth seeing if you like history, if you need a nice quiet date idea, or if you just want to see some beautiful art. Best date ever.

In July 2022 I was fortunate to be part of a private tour given by one of the docents of the Museum. I had visited the Center for Contemporary Printmaking in the same park many times but had never been in the Museum. It was a wonderful experience to hear the history of the Mansion and learn how it got to be built. Our tour guide Kathy Olsen brought the building to life for me. It is a story about a family in a very special time. I look forward to returning for special events.

I’ll start with the positive. The mansion is beautiful, a fascinating piece of history in Norwalk. Our tour guide Carl was amazing. So knowledgeable, friendly, and engaging. He made the tour even more interesting and was the best part of our experience. Now for the bad. The gift shop attendent Ms. Morales was so rude and condescending. From the moment I arrived she ignored me when I greeted her. She absolutely heard me because she was looking right at me, turned and walked away looking very bothered. There was a misunderstanding with the promotion we participated in. She argued with us, was not kind, was very dismissive and even ignored our questions. We were only trying to understand how the miscommunication happened and she was not having it. It really ruined our experience especially after having such a good time during the tour. It ended things on a sour note. My friends and I would recommend the tour, but avoid the gift shop at all costs. She shouldn’t work with the public if she can’t be kind and helpful. Unfortunately I will not be back here again.

Such a amazing day we had at the "house" it was in such amazing shape for the age. And the staff are so kind and knowledgeable. I definitely will be going back! And for 10$ how can you go wrong.
