Nice baseball and soccer fields next to an entrance for the Massapequa preserve trail. There's parking but no restrooms.

We went there on labor day weekend so, maybe my impression was tainted. The trails are flat, easy and fairly dirty - debris, broken bottles, trash everywhere. Extremely overcrowded including large groups so loud that you can hear them from half a mile. The park is a narrow strip of land sandwich between residential areas, rail- and regular roads. You can hear all these all the time even when you go far to the middle. While lakes are pretty and the waterfowl is abundant but again constant human presence, noise pollution and debris ruined this hike

Good walk. Well kept walk/bike path. 6.3 miles with lots of nature. Can be crowded but then I move to the gravel trails. It's my go to!!!

Sometimes you need to find a place that feels like your escaping from suburbia. This is one of those places. Walk around the lake, look at the geese and swans, explore some trails, or ride your bike around and enjoy the nature.

This park is lovely & connected to Massapequa Preserve. The preserve has an impressive variety of plant life & waterfowl. This area, in particular, is rather peaceful.

Mansfield park is a baseball field and a soccer field that is up against the Bethpage bike path in the Massapequa preserve‘s so hiking is also available. Fireworks for the 4th of July

Lots of people in the community come here to take their dogs out. Sharing the park also means sharing it with dogs. Get over yourself if you can't share nature with animals that are 100% more appreciative of the environment than you are. I don't know what reasonable person who goes on a trail hike and doesn't expect dogs. Stop being self-centered. They don't have a problem with humans in the park, so clearly the problem is with you. There are strict parks that do not allow dogs at all. Go there. You have all the options, whereas dog owners have limited ones, the world isn't here to serve you. This preserve originally did not allow dogs, but literally opened its doors to dogs because popularity was low, which means that the park wouldn't be here without people coming with their dogs. You're only able to enjoy it now because it serves a greater number of the community as a dog-friendly park.

I love this park in general but my favorite is that they kept it original with the natural dirt, gravel parking lot! Please do not ever put ugly asphalt or concrete down! They need to build or put a permanent out house or porta potty in that empty caged in area by field and bike path! Cuz if you need to use the bathroom for an emergency, you're gonna have to dig a hole,go in a bucket or wait till you get home! 😳😳

👍👍 A great way to spend a few hours walking amidst nature yet not have to worry about tripping - 6.3 miles “there and back” from the parking lot at Mansfield Park over to Massapequa Lake and back. Hardly any elevation - great for a long stroll with the creek giving you company for most of it. Two tric...
