We had a reservation for 5 people. The manager made us sit 5 people at a 4 people table because giving us an additional table wouldn’t “match the color of the table” that was already outside. She said the ones that matched were “taken” by other reservations even though they remained empty for our entire dining experience (see photo taken before we left). So make people cram into a table because of aesthetics?? Doesn’t make sense to me. Waitress we had was nice and the food was good, but squishing 5 adult people at a table meant for 4 is ridiculous.

This is such a nice little restaurant on Main street Bay Shore! The staff are super friendly and attentive which I really liked. Tulas has beautiful decor and they also had several vegan and vegetarian food options (inlcuding tofu crab cakes, noodles, and mini cheesecakes). So I will definitely be returning! However, prepare your wallet! My friend and I got an app each, a drink each, and a single dessert and our total came out to about $80.00. But if you want a pretty date night place or to celebrate this is a great place!

(Jun 2023) Disappointing Service Experience Overshadows Tula's Kitchen Birthday Celebration Rating: ★★☆☆☆ I recently celebrated my wife's birthday at Tula's Kitchen in Bay Shore, NY, and unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired. While the food selection, quality, and atmosphere have always been exceptional, the poor service we received overshadowed our evening. Upon arriving with a reservation, we were promptly seated, which was a positive start. However, our initial excitement dwindled as we encountered several issues with the service throughout the evening. After placing our drink order, it took an unexpectedly long time for the waitress to deliver them, leaving us waiting anxiously. To add to the frustration, the waitress proceeded to take orders from the two neighboring tables before attending to us for our appetizers and entrees. We patiently waited for more than 20 minutes, growing increasingly hungry and disappointed. Eventually, my wife had to take matters into her own hands and inquire about our missing appetizer. The waitress retrieved it from the kitchen without offering an apology for the delay. Unfortunately, the problems did not end there. Our entrees also took an unacceptably long time to arrive, and by the time they did, we had lost our appetite and requested them to be wrapped to go. As we prepared to leave, we brought up our concerns with the hostess, who was genuinely apologetic and attempted to make amends by offering a $25 gift certificate. While her efforts were appreciated, it was unfortunate that such a gesture had to be made in the first place. It is regrettable that Tula's Kitchen, a place we have previously enjoyed and praised, failed to deliver a satisfactory experience this time. The incident has left us questioning whether we will return in the near future, despite the establishment's appealing food selection, quality, and inviting atmosphere. We hope that the management addresses the service issues promptly to prevent other patrons from enduring a similarly disappointing experience. If you find yourself in a similar situation while dining here, we would highly recommend getting up a leaving if you feel the service is not up to par. That's what we should have done in hindsight. (Mar 2023) We wish we could come here more often. Tonight was a very delayed Valentines dinner so my wife choose Tulsa Kitchen because of the many dishes she can actually eat due to her very strict diet. The waitress was very friendly and promptly took our order and the Mediterranean Spread for two arrived very fast. It was well adorned with hummus, pita, tzatziki sauce and Greek salad. We ate about half and decided to save the rest for home later. Our waitress appeared to be running a lot of errands besides handling her tables such as bringing the take out orders from the kitchen to the front and therefore my wife and I sat and waited for our entrees a little longer than we felt we should have. When the plates arrived (delivered by someone else) my sesame crusted tuna and sides (asparagus and mashed potatoes) were just warm leaning towards cool probably because the plates were waiting in the kitchen a little too long. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her winter bowl with chicken and she had no complaints. I know, I should have asked to reheat but I have a personal rule not to send back food. Don't get me wrong, the meal was very good and the ambience did not disappoint! Hopefully we'll get back sooner than later to try out something different!

WOWZA. Tula’s was truly an experience that we will repeat! We were there for date night and my husband and I ordered the Mezza to share. OMG! It was fabulous-I loved the variety and tastes of this vegetarian platter. We had dinner and drinks and coffee and not 1 negative thing to say. Roman, our server was wonderful! They made our evening even more fun! Thank you!! Can’t wait to come back!!!

Tula, a staple of Bay Shore downtown has healthy options menu with interesting flair, plus chill open air vibe when garage doors are Open in warm temps. Portions have gotten smaller over time but still worth a try for the top notch service and food quality

First in the middle of a dinner rush they accommodated us by making an extra table outdoors for my uncle who is immunocompromised despite us not having a reservation. Then, the waiter John gave us the best service. And THEN the food came... we knew it would be good but we never could have expected what we got for our money. The appetizer platter alone was to die for, and the meal even more so. Our vegetarian dishes were amazing (the lentil loaf especially) and my uncle loved his seafood dish. I cannot recommend this place enough - thank you again Tula Kitchen! :)

Came here last night for the first time with my boyfriend for Valentines weekend. Being gluten free and dairy free , sometimes going out to eat can be stressful but with all the options on the menu, I truly couldn’t have had a better experience. The entire staff was so sweet. Food and drinks came out super fast. And everything was delicious. I cant wait to come back. Thank you!

Parking in the street if you can find it, otherwise it's municipal parking. Lovely place inside, very friendly staff. Started out with a cocktail which was very well made. The menu is definitely vegetarian and vegan friendly while having some lighter fare for carnivores like myself. The selections and preparation made up for the lack of beef or pork though. I had the Seafood Rigati with pasta that was just the right size, properly seasoned where the flavors were still delicate and fresh. The different types of shellfish were cooked perfectly, as if they had been cooked separately then plated together before serving. Also had the Mediterranean app which was just the right size for 2. Dream bar for dessert. All were suggested by our server, who, I regret not getting her name because she seemed to always be around when needed but without being overbearing. I can't wait to bring other people here.

I am only giving 2 starts to food because the shawarma vegan and regular were a little on the spicy side. Couldn't finish the food. The put a LOT of pepper on this dishes. We had sandwiches, pasta and chicken kebabs, tuna, they were good. Their drinks were tasty but are in my opinion on the small side. Friendly staff. Busy on Saturdays but take reservations.

We love everything about Tulas! The food is always amazing, the drinks are creative and the service is always on point. They also use clean, well sourced ingredients and have a lot of vegan/ veg options. So happy to have to this restaurant next to us!

This is the third time we've eaten at Tula's kitchen. You know you found a great restaurant when it continues to improve from a feeling that it was excellent when we first visited a few years ago. They have new menu items and all the dishes we had tonight were fantastic. Creative presentation, excellent mixture of flavors, super high quality ingredients and so many healthy choices. They particularly cater to vegetarian and vegan choices, which we love. This is our go-to restaurant on Long Island and we will be back many times. Service and the entire staff were also uniformly great. Highly recommend!!

Nice hole in the wall place. They offer many healthy and gluten free options and soups. My wife had a soup that she enjoyed and the man next us was raving about their many other soup options one of which he polished off in no time. I had a chicken wrap that was excellent and could not finish in one sitting along with a side of sweet potato fries. They also have a coffee bar so I had an iced mocha latte which was also very good, at least compared to the more popular coffee houses. Overall it was an enjoyable lunch experience.

Tula Kitchen. 5/5. Been coming here for years & it remains in my top 10 restaurants on Long Island. The vibes when you first walk in, beautiful bar & cocktails… the pink couch is my favorite place to sit. I love the light, antique, but modern vibe I get when I’m in there. Always fresh and flavorful, I never had a bad meal here. My favorite appetizers are the Mediterranean plate & Baked Brie, for entree I always order the shrimp orzo or the Lentil Burger… amazing each time. I recommend this place any time I can for special occasion dinners, showers… & it’s my go to spot for celebrating a birthday. Can’t wait to try their new breakfast / juice spot!

Great, fresh and creative food. Everything is delish and I drive far to meet friends. The cocktails are creative and well balanced and I love the tasty Mediterranean appetizers, salads, vegan Reuben, lentil loaf, salmon bowl, chicken kebab. Yummy!

Really cool place with great vegan options. Food was okay - I’m not sure why I wasn’t totally crazy about it. Service was top notch and it’s a really cool space for a restaurant. The vegan cupcake was a bit disappointing - very small (not the “gourmet cupcake” I expected) and not the best vegan treat I’ve tasted.

Loved all of our food here! I am gluten free so having so many options was a plus. We got the salmon cakes for an appetizer. Chicken Schwarma and seafood pasta for dinner and for dessert we got the brownie sundae and peanut butter cookie ice cream sandwich. Everything we ate was fantastic! Definitely will be going back.

Quality food, and great menu. Not only is the food unique, there is so many options for vegetarians and vegans. The atmosphere is eccentric in a good way. One of my favorite places. Just wish they were open for lunch daily.

I can’t wait to go back for more!! Upon entry we were greeted and given a choice of seating. We chose the romantic red room, perfect for a date night or intimate gathering. The decor says so much before the menu is even presented. A funky museum vibe with a tinge of spirituality and grace, all reflected in the gorgeous open floor plan inviting all to feast not only their eyes; but to dine on impeccable dishes made for true foodies. Tula kitchen presents with a flare that is familiar yet elevated. For the discerning taste buds the menu is beyond comfort food. I felt a vibe of; Why be ordinary when you can be extraordinary. Enticed to experience the culinary arts while sipping masterful cocktails; we laughed and settled in on the lush banquet. Truly I felt as if Miss Muffet had created the space her self. I was completely impressed with the staff and the care with which they treat all patrons. Clearing the table and resetting with each course allowing the idea of conscious dining to become a reality. If you have a choice where to dine-choose Tula Kitchen…it was a Total Knock Out for the taste buds and senses.

Excellent food. Seasonal menu. Stuffed avocado is a summer MUST. So many vegan/vegetarian options alongside an array of clean poultry and seafood dishes. Loved the key lime pie for dessert!

The food here is pretty good but not mind blowing. They have a lot of vegan options which is why I've eaten here several times. The vegan options are plentiful and different than most other places offer. The staff is also very friendly but the kitchen is incredibly slow. Our dinner took 3 hours and I had to leave to add more time to our metered parking twice. There was about 30-40 minutes between appetizers and entrees. I also find their prices fairly high which also affected my scoring. This along with the length of time took my rating down from 4 stars to 3 stars so if that kind of thing doesn't bother you and you're looking for a good bite of vegan food I would recommend this place if it's not out of your way.

Me and my boyfriend love coming here. Usually I would give it a 5 star but I’m giving it a two star because of the service. It was absolutely terrible. Waited over 40 minutes for our entrees. My boyfriend ordered a drink and we watched it sit on the bar for 15 minutes before the server even realized he didn’t get it yet. Never came to check on us to ask how anything was. The food was excellent but by the time we got it we didn’t even want it anymore. I’ve been in the restaurant world for 8 years and I understand things happen but she should have came over and apologized for everything taking so long. We watched other tables that got there after us ear and finish their food before ours. Very disappointed.

While I like food (as a vegan, Tula one of best options in Islip area) I have to say the staff leaves a lot to be desired. My friend & I went in at 6 pm on a Sat to see if we could get a table without a reservation. We were told by a masked hostess (already a bad first impression) that she'd try her best. After waiting nearly 20 min, we were told nothing available until 8:15. Another couple got same story. We saw several empty tables & not many waiting. So, upon a recommendation by the other couple, we headed to Pecado. We were promptly seated by a maskless, smiling hostess & enjoyed a wonderful meal served by a friendly, maskless waiter. We found a new spot

Was a little off put at first by the greeting, glances at watch and rolls eyes slightly, but the service turned out good, food delicious as well as the dessert! The coconut cloud drink will become my favorite I'm sure! The hostess, along with the waitress made up for the first impression by explaining about the kitchen closing soon, so after we received our orders we felt comfortable taking our time and having dessert as encouraged by the staff. Will return!

Excellent option for if you're looking for vegan and vegetarian options. Service was prompt and courteous. The decor was lively and decadent. Really enjoy my time here.

We have often enjoyed excellent meals and service at Tula Kitchen, but decided to try their catering services for our family Christmas gathering this year. We were not disappointed! The food was excellent, reasonably priced, plentiful and enjoyed by our guests! The ordering process, pick-up and serving directions were seamless and top-notch. We ordered the Turkey Meatballs/zucchini squash and the Chicken Fusilli Bowl and a side of Roasted Potatoes. Everything was amazing! Highly recommend

Went to Tula kitchen in bay shore with a friend. I love this place, great food and drinks always, however the staff is always hot and cold. Today I brought my 3 month old and the staff at first was very nice and accommodating as I had the stroller. After 50 minutes the waiter came up to our table and asked if we were ordering food because this wasn’t a “chill space”. Mind you, both my friend and I ordered drinks, we were catching up and were absolutely going to order food. We said that we still didn’t look at the menu and the waiter pressed us as he stated his bosses were pressing him because again he said it “wasn’t a chill space”. We felt rushed and quickly placed an order on the spot. After he left the table, we felt that this was inappropriate. I would have understood if the place was busy but it was us and another table, they were completely empty. We paid our bill and left without food. It is no way to treat a customer. Sadly, I will not be going back as this isn’t the first time I’ve had a rude encounter with staff.

Great vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options, and the food was fantastic. A bit pricey, but the food is of great quality and they have large portion sizes. Very nice ambience.

The food and vegan cupcake never disappoint! Must make reservations. We got there right when it opened on a Saturday night and there was a line of people waiting without reservations. Thankfully we had them. Enjoy!

In the heat of the dinner rush to Love was kind enough to accommodate my husband with an outside table without a reservation in light of his recent kidney transplant and vulnerable condition. The service was not only compassionate the food was outrageous! We absolutely loved and enjoyed our meals and thank Tula for being such amazing hosts. I highly recommend. Both the seafood & the vegetarian selections were exceptional.

Celebrated my sister’s Bridal Shower yesterday at Tula Kitchen and I can’t say enough good things about this place. The food was phenomenal and the staff was so warm, friendly, and accommodating. The ambiance was perfect for this occasion. A few of the many reasons why this is one of my favorite places. Thank you for helping make the day so special!
