A sprawling, beautiful park, well maintained with many points of interest. Several paths both paved and dirt all surrounded with beauty. Looks like they grow and sell produce during summer and eggs year round. The main house is filled with history and the cafe has a large selection of pastry/scones/muffins plus soups and light food. Great views to sit with family/friends and talk over a pot of tea. Can't wait to go back in the spring

This is the greatest place to get away from the world and relax a bit. It's so serene there. You need an entire day too see everything OR just go often and scope out a few things. There is s wonderful little restaurant in the mansion. We had some pie last time we went and it was fantastic. If you love nature you must go here.

One of the best arboretums in tristate area (competing with Planting Fields arboretum). Great experience visiting from early spring to late fall, never disappoints. Besides arboretum trails there are pretty good woodlands trails and quite amazing in any weather river walk.

Great place to spend your day with kids. Many different gardens to explore. Kids love to walk in Woodland Garden because it’s like a small adventure. River walk gives a amazing view of the Connetquot River. You can either cover left or right side of the park first and take lunch in the Hidden Oak Cafe. Then you can cover the rest. Kids love to see chickens in CSA farm. $8 per vehicle, closed on Monday Highly recommend

It's like a hidden gem on Long Island. Eight dollars for parking isn't a waste. The long walk right next to the Connecticut River is really cool. I recommend you to go there once.

Really neat arboretum, with a great variety of beautiful trees and flowers. It's right next to a river, too. Peaceful, scenic walk. My family and I go here all the time and it's a classic place we bring our out-of-state friends to when they drop by for visits.

This 5 star rating in for grounds themselves, not the manor house, cafe, or tours. It costs $8 to park however the fee goes to the upkeep and landscaping so I'm happy to contribute. This is a huge place and you can come many times, walking a different trail with a different view each time. There are many species of trees and flowers to enjoy. Currently there are many restrictions due to covid but the grounds themselves are a nice and scenic retreat.

Very nice place one hour away from the city. $8 is the parking fee and if you are paying by cash then exact amount of $8 is needed. Machine does not provide change. Very investing trees and plants in the Arboretum. You can easily spend 3 hours in the Arboretum. There are benches and chairs placed all over the Arboretum where you can sit and relax or read a book or just enjoy the nature. I will definitely going to come back again to Bayard Cutting Arboretum.

One of my favorite parks in the Island. The landscaping is supreme and the groundskeepers are always on point. They are like barbers who don’t miss a hair or in this case a blade of grass. Winter , Spring, Simmer Fall - This is my go to for a nice walk with may Terrains ( grass, sand, pebbles, concrete. Your legs will get a workout if you choose

What a Great Time at the Arboretum. First our Thanks to Bryan the Manager, Ciara the Host and our Server Patty at the Hidden Oak Cafe. All three of them are such nice people. Definitely a A+ on customer service. The food was absolutely delicious. Our Server Patty was so accommodating to our food allergies. I would highly recommend having lunch here. Thank you for such a pleasant experience 😊

It’s a beautiful place to spend a relaxed day. The gardens are gorgeous and the mansion beautiful. There is a cafe where you can sit on the porch and enjoy a meal, a bite or a coffee.

Beautiful, well kept grounds. My kids are 9 & 11 and they both enjoyed walking along the water. There is no park staff working at the booth upon entering but you can pay for parking ($8/car) at the machine once you've parked. Don't forget to display the receipt by your windshield. It was not crowded at all when we went on a Sunday around 3:30p, the arboretum closes at 5p and we explored maybe only a 1/3 of the place. Definitely will return again!

Right by the water. Beautiful grounds. The only problem is there aren't enough paved paths for a wheelchair. I brought my mom who is in a wheelchair. We were limited in what we could see.

So many great trailers to walk on. You can choose to go into the woods or walk by water . Each time is a new beautiful experience . And don't forget to visit the chickens and the Delilah gardens

I love this place it is so wonderful. The gardens are always well maintained. Sitting on the great lawn and watching the water is so relaxing and the dahlia garden is my all time favorite. The only thing that’s bothers me is the current construction. It really pushes parking from the main building and it is difficult for some who have mobility issues to walk. It is a big longer a distance than it used to be. But my hope is with the completion of the construction it might be easier.

Beautiful walk on a beautiful dat. The Long Island Dahlias society show is being held at the arboretum this weekend 9/2-3/2023. Don't miss out on all the fantastic flowers in the show. The dahlia garden will be on display much longer, until first frost. The bees loves dahlias and you will too. Go for a beautiful walk.

Great place to enjoy the beauty and wonder of nature. Check out the familiar, as well as the unfamiliar flora of our area. The staff is friendly and helpful. The restaurant is charming and the food is very good. A wonderful getaway just a few miles from home!

Very well kept and the landscaping is impressive! They have plenty of little hidden trails and well located seating while you're exploring, 3 little ponds and some very old and impressive trees as well. Great place to explore for an hour or 2, and I definitely recommend visiting the Oak Hill Cafe after for a nice refreshing lemonade!

Beautiful arboretum with lush landscapes and amazing views of the water. Well worth the $8 parking fee. The pictures online don't do it justice.

Had such a lovely day with my family there. The staff is very friendly and our tour guides (husband & wife duo), were absolutely wonderful. They were a plethora of knowledge on the home and the owners that built it. The grounds are so beautifuly maintained & the most lavish arboretum you will find on LI. It warrants the nature walk, which is acres, to see all the trees & plants from countries abroad.

A meritoriously well maintained arboretum with lots of space to explore and a garden filled with intricate flowers. This is a must visit for any nature explorer.

My favorite place to come walk around. I've been coming here for years. They are always updating but seem to keep their same style. Doesn't matter what direction u walk in you will find something beautiful. Keep an eye out for the tea room. Great pies and cookies after a long walk

Spacious park. Many walkways throughout the plantings, and along the river. Benches everywhere to sit and enjoy the views and surroundings. Parking is a deterrent; $8 fee collected at pay-stations....which were mostly out-of-order.

A beautiful place that is lovingly and wonderfully cared for. A true paradise and great place to escape the busyness of Long Island for a while.

Tea room for lunch is perfect. Lovely walking paths through trees and gardens and along river. Leave and take free books in a few places. Can use Empire pass for parking/entry

I had no idea that I could've used my Empire Pass to visit 😲 The Manor House tour is well worth the extra fee, what a beautiful and well preserved home. Can't wait to go back and walk around the grounds next time!

For lovers of exeptional gardens and Victorian Architecture, this is a must see. While visiting in NY, my sister treated me to "tea" at the Arboretum. It was delightful but the most spectacular thing was the tree "you could walk inside of". Though things in the mansion are " a touch shabby" overall the gardens are quite memorable.

This place is absolutely beautiful. Definitely a hidden gem out here on the island and highly recommend taking a nice long stroll through the well kept grounds. There's so many different types of trees. It would be really cool to know the age of some of them given how massive some of them are. Sitting near the water and looking out is also a nice thing to do while you're here.

  • 5/5 Natalia I. 2 years ago on Google
Great place for walking at any time of the year! There are many interesting trees in the arboretum. For those who are interested in detailed information, I recommend to find a very detailed map on the site with the location and name of almost every tree. For example, for me the Tulip tree аnd yellow magnolia were an amazing discovery! For over 15 years arboretum has been one of my favorite places on Long Island. If you visit The Bayard Cutting Arboretum at least once, I am sure that you will come back here often! Also, I really like the beautiful dahlia garden.

👍👍 Today was my first visit to this park and I loved it. Took my dog and we walked all over the trails and made our way to the water and sat and just enjoyed the view. 👍👍 Since I have lived on the south shore of Long Island most of my 74 years of life, being able to look out at the Great South Bay is such a part of who I am. I never get tired of this view - Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall
