This is a awesome aquarium! It’s on the smaller side, but my family spent 2 hours looking around. The stingray tank is one of the best touch pools I’ve experienced, they’re very well taken care of. It’s only $3 to feed them too! This aquarium is probably best for families with young children, but it was still enjoyable as an adult. I appreciate all the love for the seals as well! It’s a great exhibit. My favorite part was all of the octopuses, all three were pretty active. I got lots of great pictures. The gift shop is also pretty affordable compared to other zoos/aquariums!

Love the new exhibits they have! Last year the butterfly exhibit wasn’t around, and many mistake it for being at the zoo, but it isn’t! It’s very much alive and bustling with life this year. The expansion they did looks nice, and I highly recommend a visit if you are or aren’t a local! Not to mention if you show proof of Ct residency your ticket and children are free of charge! Only the parking garage- which I was there for maybe 4-5 hours and cost me 6$- pretty good- cheaper than the tank of gas to get there 🤗

It's a great aquarium that's not too big, but not too small. Perfect for anyone with younger kids. The shark exhibit is amazing, with many large tiger sharks easily visible. The meerkat exhibit allows the kids to safely get very close to the animals. The stingray tank allows the kids to touch the rays safely. Overall, it was a fun trip that the kids enjoyed.

Very beautiful, amazing, and very well run place. The many animals that you'll see are really amazing and absolutely great creations of God. I've been 3 times so far and would go again and again with friends and family. I feel the price is very much worth it. Please, by all means go and experience animals that you may not have ever seen. You'll absolutely love feeding the small sting rays. Just so much to see and enjoy. The staff are very well educated about the animals and are very nice.

A big space but a pretty quick walk through. Different types of animals to see. Not too crowded when we went on a Saturday afternoon. Reasonable ticket prices. Gift shop, had a good selection. Cafe upstairs was nice. Food was fresh and the employees were very nice! Overall, nice place to visit if you are in the area.

I live in Norwalk and have a long history at the Maritime Aquarium! Words cannot describe how much I love and appreciate this place. I love the staff, the volunteers and most of all, the beautiful animals they have. A big highlight is being able to touch the stingrays and tiger sharks! Soooo fun! Definitely a must see place in the North East!

Excellent experience. Loved how friendly the staff is. During slow days, you can finish the aquarium in under 2 hours, including a 4D short movie. I enjoyed the interactive exhibits with animals.

The aquarium is delightful and great for all ages! I read some Google reviews before going and everyone seemed to have wonderful things to say about the place. I now understand why. The place is completely indoors, even the seal feeding! Which made it great for the rainy day today. We enjoyed the butterflies at the flutter zone. There's a few places where the visitors can pet and feel the animals, including stingrays and jellyfish. There is food for the stingrays for purchase. There is an exhibit where the kids can design a virtual sealife animal and have it swim on a screen. There is a toddler's play area with lots of toys and seating for parents. There are nursing rooms and changing rooms if you'll be coming with small babies. We did not have time for the 4D movie, but there is a schedule of the movie showings throughout the day. The 2 options were happy feet or octopus. There was so much to see and do and the hours just passed by while we enjoyed our time. It's a great place for visitors of all ages. I highly recommend this place. It's probably the most well-designed aquarium I've ever been to.

I loved visiting this aquarium I touched many sea animals and I had so much fun. Excellent choice to spend the day, I saw so many kids here which I thought was great cause kids can learn a lot in here as they learn of the ocean creatures.

A super fun place to visit, especially with kids! I came with my niece and nephew, and we all had a blast. I especially loved being able to interact with the sturgeon, as I've never seen those in a touch tank at any other aquarium. And the river otter is amazing. They also have sea turtles that are enormous!

This is a solid aquarium. It's not the biggest one out there, and coupled with the fact that it's all indoors (which I love), this means that it doesn't have large exhibits, but I'm ok with that. Little kids will enjoy it, lots to see, even some areas where you can touch crabs, stingrays, and some fish. Plenty of room to push a stroller around (although, you should still try to bring a small one), and it even has a little play area for kids. The cafe, while not having the most thrilling menu, definitely had tasty food. And the parking garage is right across the street. We'll definitely be going back again. It was a great day.

This is a great place for children and adults. It was under construction still, and I was told that there was an I-Max theater, but apparently it's been closed down and not returning. Regardless, it was still a great and beautiful experience in deed. I highly recommend that you get there early, my daughter and I got there at 10 am and we were able to truly enjoy it, we were done by 12pm and the line to get in was very long. I don't think my daughter and I could have enjoyed it with that many people there. The gift shop is cute, candles are very expensive, but everything else was fairly priced, they seem to have a cafe upstairs but it was closed when we were there. I highly recommend this place for sure.

Dec 2023: Small but very fun/interactive aquarium. I’d recommend you eat lunch and head to the aquarium after. It’s much quieter in the afternoon and food options are limited and mediocre on site. Parking garage is across the street. Bring your parking ticket with you to the aquarium. You can pay at the kiosk by the gift shop when you’re about to leave the aquarium. We paid $8 for parking. Pay for sting ray food ($3 for about 2 bait fish) at the information desk. You can also purchase tickets for the 4D show at the info desk. We saw the show called Octopus which was $7/ticket. It was a little less than 15 minutes. We enjoyed it. The sturgeon tank was my favorite. You can pet them! They’re very gentle and friendly. Can’t say the same about the sting rays. They’re not for the faint-hearted. 🙋🏻‍♀️ We had a nice day.

One of the best aquariums I’ve visited in years. Worth the visit for all ages. Plenty of animals to see and interactive activities. Best of all is they rehabilitate animals to return to their natural habitat and house those that are unable to do so. We enjoyed a seal show, touched sting rays and got up close using the dome looking glasses they had in different exhibits. Very cool! Highly recommend.

I came here often, as a kid 30 yrs ago, when the place was new. It was my absolute pleasure to bring my own kids. It hasn't changed much, and my kiddos loved it as much as I did!

Second year we go here & I love it , my kids definitely enjoyed it today . One thing we missed from last year was the butterflies hopefully they be back soon. This aquarium definitely was worth the 1 hour & a half drive ❤️❤️ Btw Residents showing their SNAP EBT card and CT ID at the door can receive Aquarium admission for just $3 per person, for up to 6 people. (No more than 2 of the 6 can be adults). The offer is valid year-round ❤️❤️

Great Aquarium and bigger than what I expected. They have quite a good selection of fishes and sea animals. They are clean and well organized. It was not crowded which is good. Its helpful to get there as soon as they open and park in the parking lot across the street ($8 for all day parking). The admission was a good price considering other Aquariums I have been to. Around noon time they feed the seals, that was fun to watch. One thing that I enjoyed was that they had water fountains available for you drink water and to refill your water bottle for FREE. I had a great visit and will come back in the future.

Great place to visit once in a while . We bought a membership this year so if we go one more time we save tons of money . (Family of 6). Animals are beautiful and look to be in good health , staff is passionate and knowing. My one complaint is the cafe . Cost me $100 for a couple chicken tender plates and a salad that was gross . It was chaos and kind of self serve . Next time we visit I’ll eat at a local restaurant for that price .

Definitely, a must-visit the Aquarium, I really enjoyed our trip to this Aquarium. The aquarium staffs are very friendly and resourceful, they even go as far as allowing visitors to jiggle a Jellyfish which adds more fun to the experience. There are lots of fishes, sharks, turtles, and other very exciting aqua life animals. Also, this place is family-friendly, so I definitely think you should visit whenever you can. There's a military discount if you show a valid military ID. Please like this post if you find it resourceful. Thank you 😊😊

One of the better aquariums I have been to. It was very well kept and very clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Was able to view a large variety of sea creatures from sea turtles to sharks to otters etc. The touch tanks were my favorite and parking is available across the aquarium for a small fee.

Great way to spend a hot afternoon. Lots to see and do. New interactive exhibits are great. Coolest part was coloring the sharks seals etc and then watching them go up on the big screen. Virtual reality was my son's favorite!! He is 7 years old. We spent a great afternoon there

The kids loved all of the exhibits there were some you could touch such as jelly fish, rays, horshoe crabs and a few others. There was even face painting as well although my daughter decided on her arm instead. Great family fun to just relax and stroll through the staff was very knowledgeable and helpful .

Great place for the kiddos to see sea life up close. Some exhibits were hands on where you can touch the stingrays, jellyfish, and turtles. We were there just in time for the feeding of the sea lions and got a little show. Clean and roomy very detailed explanation of the animals and do forget the SHARKS!! the tank was huge the kids won’t be disappointed. Paid parking onsite and a few eateries within walking distance after all that walking around.

This aquarium is a great one especially being all indoors aka no worry of rain. The Seal habitat was incredible and the Sea Turtles were awesome. The other animals were great too with the variety that was there. Just a heads up expect a lot of crowding at times.

We love the Maritime Aquarium! It is a sweet place to visit 😊. I love that it is small enough to see everything in a few hours but very engaging. My son loves to touch the sharks, rays and jellies and just sit in the calm shark exhibit and watch them swim around . They also have an interactive touch exhibit where a volunteer brings out several sea creatures and talk about them. My favorite spot is the peaceful jelly exhibit. Be sure to catch a great show (and some popcorn ☺️) in the IMAX theater! You can also take the boat ride to Sheffield Island! That is a wonderful experience in itself! We keep a yearly membership because we enjoy the aquarium and everything it offers so much! We have enjoyed several enrichment programs, camps and birthday parties over the years 🤗 This is definitely worth a trip if you are just visiting the Norwalk area and definitely worth a membership for locals ☺️. As a special note, in light of the current pandemic, we have been very impressed with the safety measures and procedures they have put in place so that we are able to continue to safely visit. Thank you 😊

Very nice aquarium! It was smaller than I thought it would be based on their website, but it is very well laid out and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. The types of fish(and even their selection of animals) was very diverse and interesting. Even their gift shop was well done. Their COVID-19 precautions were well set up and executed and I felt safe there the whole time. Will definitely return soon! Highly recommended!!

We had a blast. They eliminated a few attractions that would normally cause clutter, smart idea. More spacious. They have hand sanitizer throughout the exhibit, they require you to follow the guided one way path which covers entire aquarium which I really liked. Masks are required and they even label highly touched surfaces so you know to hand sanitizer after for safety. We had a great time for sure and will be back again. Don't forget to bring your parking garage ticket with you! You pay at machine downstairs before going back to car 👍

I love aquariums. This was the first aquarium I’ve been to in the state of Connecticut. There were restrictions and limited occupancy due to the state guidance on COVID (this was during Phase 2.1 of the reopening), so buy tickets ahead of time. I really enjoyed the meerkats and meditating on the Great Pacific Octopus. The female laid eggs during the shutdown and is currently in her senescence phase, so she isn’t long for this world. The male GPO is going to be moved to her larger tank after she passes.

Under construction when we went but overall it seemed pretty small for such a big building. Was anticipating on seeing penguins or belugas, but the big sea turtles and sharks sufficed I guess. The 4D theater definitely needs sub titles since parties can’t be respectful of other people wanting to learn. It was very crowded and made for kids crowds only, not for older adults. On the plus side I fed some rays

This place is beautiful and informative and there's so much to see. It's easy to park in the garage across the street. When we went there was an outdoor butterfly house. Theres a large area upstairs for smaller kids to run around and play with more sensory toys in a controlled environment. My favorite are the three sea turtles! It's also very clean and the gift shop is very nice. Love it!

Smaller sized aquarium but perfect for little ones! Our three year old and 10 month old absolutely loved it! Prices weren't too high and the staff was so friendly and helpful. We were a little disappointed that the kids area upstairs was closed, but hopefully next time it will be. Highly recommend checking it out! Great place to bring your kids, even if they are only 2 years old. Very spacious, well maintained, friendly staff, awesome sea creatures, and there is even a play zone on the second level to wear out the younglings. Everything is indoors so if you know it will rain all day, then this is the place to go. Looking forward to coming back soon.

What an awesome experience from the start. Purchased tix online and was able to select time of entry and time for a 4D movie from NYC. Arrived and easy to enter. Exhibits were so well set my granddaughter ran around like a maniac with so much to see. Photo booths and photo station made it easy to memorialize the day. We did both and the photos being emailed as well was clutch in case original damaged. Staff helped us change 4D movie time with no issue and the mobie experience was awesome for us adults let alone the kids.

Fun aquarium that’s not too far for an entire family from NY/NJ. During Covid-19 they closed the outside area where they let their seals to swim around, but maintained to open the most of their aquarium operations for the public. Parking is convenient and not pricey with the garage across street, and there’re ton of nice restaurants near by.

I recently traveled a little over an hour to visit the Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk to take photographs. This aquarium offered easy parking in the municipal lot across the street. It was my first time here and I was pleasantly surprised with the exhibit as a whole. I wish I had taken more time to read and learn about each exhibit, but I was focused on my photography. I did find that some of the tank's acrylic was dirty, and I wish I was given a map of the facility (I didn't ask for one). The staff were friendly, helpful, and enthusiastic about their jobs. The place seemed empty, which was good for me, probably not for them. This is a great aquarium for the region and we should support them. It was bigger and better than I expected and I think it’s worth your visit.

What a great aquarium. Loved the touch tanks! It was so much fun. Staff were very friendly and informative. They have a virtual goggles where you feel like you swimming with great white sharks! I highly recommend this aquarium. It wasn't crowded which made us feel like we had the entire place to ourselves. Can't wait to visit again with the rest of the family.

One of favorite places to go when kids need to refresh their routine. It's usually not so busy here, and a lot of things to explore. You can hold a crab, touch jellyfish or stingray; observe bats or sharks. And of course many different fish species. Big play area on second story (its closed now due to covid) and free movie theater with entry ticket. Also they added VR station

Filthy and missing stuff, I'll blame covid

Came here on a Saturday around noon. Not too crowded, which is always a plus. However, I did not see a single employee disinfect any area. Enter at your own risk for sure. There are a few wash stations though. Overall, the aquarium is beautiful. I would have liked to see more information on what I’m seeing. The shark exhibit was amazing!!! I’ll definitely visit again.

The aquarium did a good job with social distancing and making sure everyone has their space, they even have it so that the flow of traffic is one way.

Price is little bit to high. Some animals should not be there; place is to small for them( monkeys , bats , birds) Animals are well described, but for some no photos are provided for identification.Place is not worth of membership .

We love this aquarium! Bummer that IMAX theater is gone that was one of the main reasons we went here!! No 3D movies please (hate wearing those glasses, always gives me headaches) yikes!

  • 4/5 kate l. 3 years ago on Google
There was alot of construction going on so some of the exhibits weren't available. Before you go make sure the Imax is showing. The staff was great at answering questions. The sharks were a big hit with our boys!

A whole time they had to tell the Jewish family who was around no one. PICK UP YOUR MASK...... VERY NOT NICE.

I'm giving this aquarium 1 star because I have to give one to post a review. The tanks were dirty and just looked like giant blue cement pools. The areas were small for the animals living in them. The one door I passed looked like it should be in a haunted house, boarded up. Other doors were covered with huge plastic sheets and duct tape.

The Maritime Aquarium is clean and well maintained. The sea life is well-taken care of here. The seals seemed happy swimming upside down and performing tricks for the trainers. The seals are their big attraction. The 4D shark show was worth the cost.

Perfectly sized for kids. My son is 9 and it was enough to keep having fun and not so huge that it got stressful. They have touch tanks and so many beautiful animals, not just fish!!

I spent about 2 hours here but didn’t do the shows. They have free interactive activities like a sting ray and jellyfish touch tank.

It's a small aquarium. Really nice tanks, sea life and info. Really nice shark area to sit and watch them swim. My absolute favorite was the jellyfish area. It was wonderful to see the different types and stages of the jellyfish. Not too many activities to do besides the 4d movie. My son really enjoyed coloring and bringing to the bring screen the sea animals. That was cool for a 5 year old with autism and making the sand crystal (additional cost).

Overall the aquarium is amazing. My kids had a blast, especially watching the sea turtles and sea lions. Biggest downfall was that it was exceptionally crowded especially for a place that requests pre-purchased tickets to limit numbers during COVID based concerns. Parking was a hot mess as well, but that’s too be expected when it’s as packed as it was. But, get there on a day and it’s well worth the trip.

My favorite museum in Norwalk for sure. Have been here with my kids before but it is always a pleasure going there. This time I was with a 16, 13 and 8 yo and they all had a blast. Always happy to return here

Amazing little aquarium. My son enjoyed everymin. He was able to touch sting rays and jelly fish and a crab. There is plenty to do to keep the kid entertained for a little while. I am looking forward to our next trip to the aquarium.

The kids had a great time. It was very crowded due to summer camps. Go after 3pm. Staff is great. Food at the Cafe was good, a little expensive for what it was. Gift shop is very nice definitely pricey. Stuffed animals about 20-30$ small toys 10-20$
