I love this place. It is always a great place for a good walk. I like coming here in the early spring and late fall the most. I love how quiet it is along the water. You can find a lot of trash sometimes which is shame but they keep it pretty clean. There is not much parking but you can find some street parking. It is a treat when it snows too come here and near sunset, every thing just looks great.

A pleasant short trail around a clean and bright lake. Hundreds of birds - including a few beautiful swans. Interesting trail with sections that are narrow along ledges right against the water. Minimal people on a warm Sunday afternoon.

I'm here very often since its the closest trails to me. I love this place, even though its not very big and part or it is right next to Wantagh parkway. I love the flowing stream that goes over a bunch if rocks and then under a bridge we walk over. Its all dirt trails, which is what I prefer. I've seen swans, mallards, a hawk, american coots, mudd shoveler ducks, red-winged blackbirds, woodpeckers, etc. Fishing is allowed here but there are spots with lots or lily pads where its easy to get your line caught. I've seen several geese injured due to fishing hook and fishing line that wasn't properly disposed of, which was horrible to see. One goose swelled 7 feet of fishing line and another (a mom with baby geese) had a hook lodged into her neck. Also teenagers come here and leave beer cans and litter and even break glass bottles so it can be messy at times

This is really beautiful tranquil park. There's very little parking, so be prepared to walk. A few blocks in order to park in a secure place. There is a lot of poison ivy and that is something that should be maintained more by the town, but it's not. There is some graffiti and there's minimal garbage. But for the most part it's a nice preserve. There are a lot of ducks, geese, and other wildlife. This is also a great place for bird watchers. It's not really a place where you go running. Because the ground is unstable with a lot of overgrown branches. It's nice to bring kids but not completely around the preserve due to the poison ivy factor. However, if you wanted to sit from the street and pier over the entire lake, it's very paceful. There is no charge to visit the park.

Beautiful nature trail hidden in plain sight. Located near the intersection of Sunrise Highway and the Wantagh Parkway; just blocks from the Belmore train station. Very relaxing with no steep hills and many opportunities for spotting wildlife and photographing nature. There are no restrooms, and dogs are not allowed. Parking is along the local streets. Definitely worth the trip!

Nice even lake to run around, a little noisy as it's also along some major streets and parkways, but was still enjoyable! Definitely closer to 2 miles

A clean park that we were able to visit to go fishing. The social distancing guidelines didn't need to be enforced because everyone we ran into at the park were already enforcing it themselves.

I've hiked twin lakes preserve, 4 times, 2 times I was with friends that didn't want to hike the whole thing and 2 times I hiked the whole trail alone. It's a pretty little preserve that meets my standard hiking qualifications. A body of water is present (in this case two), when I'm on the trail if no one else is around I feel like I've gotten lost in the woods and escaped the hustle of LI. Those are my two hiking qualifications. This trail is not too long about a mile and a half I think. Nice if you want to get a quick hike in. I've been trying for a hike once a week recently but this coming month I might not get in one a week, I'll have to get back to that schedule in January even though it will be cold out. Twin lakes is one of my favorite Nassau hikes so far.

Very nice for a brisk walk, lots of birds on the lake, etc. However the entrances are small (little hard to find), the path is narrow (especially at the entrance near the bridge), it's also bumpy with tree roots (If you are clumsy or drag your feet you'll likely trip unless you constantly watch your step). In conclusion if the cons don't bother you it's a 4 out of 5, but if they do it's a 2 out 5.

Its good if I want to do some fishing. For hiking its not that great because you walk close to the highway the cars sound is pretty loud. So best is to get some fishing gear go and chill.

This is the place you want to go to get away from it all. It’s so calm and peaceful and there isn’t many people here so I highly recommend going here for some time away from it all. I don’t recommend it if you don’t like walking or bugs

A lovely little preserve. I love walking in Twin Lakes Preserve during every season, but in my opinion, it's best in Fall, when the foliage is there and there are tons of leaves on the ground.

Beautiful lake to go for walks Now that's about it. It Also used to be a great place to go fishing, (FOR A LONG TIME)), after a hard day of work, But unfortunately the pond is not maintained ( by anyone!!! Town Of hamstead. N.Y state, or N.Y conservation of waterways And do to hotter and hotter summers the vegetation gets extremely overgrown

Beautiful nature walk, but I wish it was cleaned up a bit. Like there's tooo much algae/bacteria floating in the water making it look gross.

  • 5/5 Sean O. 2 years ago on Google
Clean. Not the best park to escape the sound of civilization, but still a nice place to be amongst nature.

Very nice trail. I took four kids with one in a stroller. I did the lake to the north of the parking. It was lovely and not challenging for them except the two parts near the parkway where I had to cross a narrow bridge with the stroller. Otherwise it is well maintained and clean. It's all excellent local hike for young children.

Disappointing! Noisy from the highway and side streets. Trails not clear. No easy to figure out how to enter the Preserve!

  • 3/5 Jeff S. 1 year ago on Google
Calm, relatively small. nice for fishing and taking a small walk if you’re a local. not worth coming out of your way for, especially more than once. beautiful lakes although they are more of drainage ponds and quite disgusting.

So serene! Great walk to kill an hr. The paths are well marked. Just watch the roots they are easy to trip on. And you will need to have balance in a couple of places. Definatly worth a quick trip. Some fishing too and I didn't see one patch of poison ivy!
