Old Field Point Lighthouse

Tourist attraction Historical landmark

👍👍 Beautiful, peacefully quiet location with great views. Has been taken over by the Dept of the Interior. I don't think you can tour the lighthouse but you can get up close. Nice neat grounds to walk on. Can bring your dogs but they need to be leashed. Oldfield Police have their HQ here so it's a safe... Beautiful, peacefully quiet location with great views. Has been taken over by the Dept of the Interior. I don't think you can tour the lighthouse but you can get up close. Nice neat grounds to walk on. Can bring your dogs but they need to be leashed. Oldfield Police have their HQ here so it's a safe location. Closes at 6 pm sharp. Oh, and don't try to scale the fence and make your way to the beach unless you like wearing handcuffs.

It’s a beautiful drive to a beautiful location The lighthouse is built in another era and it is impressive. As far as I know you can’t tour the inside of it. There is some town office space inside. On the site you get a beautiful view of Long Island Sound and Connecticut but there is no access to the beach or the lighthouse so although very nice there was really nothing to do there. Still in my opinion worth visiting.

Nice quiet spot to relax at. I saw people having picnics here, and it seems like a great spot for one! Parking was good too. View of water is nice, the lighthouse itself is smaller than expected, but still really cool nonetheless!

I've only visited this maybe three times in all my years here since 1969 by car I am usually out on a boat in front of it maybe half of my life I've spent staring at this thing from the water. It's such a gem This was the attraction many many years ago people from the city would come out and take a carriage to it a special carriage to it really neat so it kind of feel that history when I'm standing here looking at it how people used to come see this icon. How much a simple time it was where there weren't many landmarks that wasn't even hardly anything here on the island so they would come to these special places like this lighthouse Now it's so crazy overcrowded but the North shore still remains a gem I had to deliver some artwork around the corner otherwise it wouldn't be here I was a little early so it came down to check it out again from the third time and it's just a neat place I love this I'm going to make some artwork about this but here are the pictures so you can enjoy them

Nice small lighthouse that's good for a quick visit if you are in the area. I wouldn't make the trip just to see it. We spent the day in Port Jefferson and then stopped here on the way back to Nassau county. The entry is free and the views are nice but you can't get close to the cliffs or the water.

Old Field Point Lighthouse is a great getaway spot on the Long Island Sound. A beautiful neighborhood drive leads you to the park grounds where there is ample opportunity to walk around and enjoy the beauty there. The lifmghthouse is marvelous and even houses some local offices. Enjoy the grounds for a picnic, a walk, or just sit and watch the sunset into the sound! You can not go wrong with whatever you do here...a must see for lighthouse enthusiasts, like me, and a wonderful gem for Long Island, Post Jefferson, and all to enjoy.

Simple yet beautiful. Its a tranquil spot for a visit or a nice picnic near the water. If you are in the neighborhood or are driving in to the town of Port Jefferson, I recommend stopping by and seeing this scenic little piece of Long Island history!

Made our way out to the lighthouse on a overcast Saturday afternoon. Nice enough view, but not much else. Definitely didn't have to fight the crowds.

Beautiful secluded park tucked away at the end of Old Field Road. Perched on a small bluff, this small park has beautiful views of Long Island Sound and is a fun vantage point to see the Bridgeport/Port Jefferson Ferry.

One of my favorite destinations while out cycling. Rode 🚲 126+ miles that day. Old Field Lighthouse is always apart of my longer rides. Absolutely beautiful community with awesome views of nature and it's wildlife. 😊

Beautiful serene little park. Well kept. Great views of CT. Cannot get down to the water. Butin my opinion all lighthouses worthy of a visit whether open or not.

I don't visit the lighthouse itself. As a resident, I find the lookout area just prior to entering the lighthouse area to be a serene spot for reflection and "me time". So on occasion I will just park for 30 or 40 mins and enjoy the water view, drink some coffee, and use that time to reflect. It is also a nice destination spot for a bike ride with the family and the mosquitoes are not so plentiful and ravenous as they are at West Meadow Beach. 😏

Beautifully maintained historical site with views of the Long Island Sound, and Connecticut on a clear day. Great back road destination for a leisurely ride.

It was free to enter the small park and plenty of parking available for us. The light house is closed to the public and is occupied by local government offices. It's at a beautiful location on the top of a bluff.

Nice views of the North Shore. But not a park. The buildings are used for town business.

We love the ocean view. But there's really not much else to see. We were visiting Port Jefferson and it was only 8 mins away. I do not recommend taking a drive just to see this lighthouse.
