This aquarium would be great for children, low viewing level so kids can see in. The place is well decorated, there is a huge shark tank you can watch from above and below. You can feed turtles and manta-rays in the front area. Don't forget there is a sea lion show that is a must see. Plus in the back there is a jungle gym tree and some tunnels to play in. For adults, I think it is lacking signage with information about what's in each tank and a few facts about them. Plus it felt like a few of the tanks were smaller than they should be (not my profession, just seemed smaller than other aquariums I have been to) Over all a good aquarium, maybe they need to clean up in general a little and adjust how tanks are set up.But I would go again.

We've been at the weekend and on a week day, it is definitely better to visit on a weekday as there is free parking and free entrance to the butterfly farm. This is a nice aquarium, with a great shark tank, sea lion shows and various fresh water and salt water tanks. There are also otters, snow.monkeys, bugs, porcupines, etc. My son loves coming here with all the different things to see. His favourite are the sharks, turtles and Ray petting pond.

My favorite aquarium on the East Coast! That’s my second time in this aquarium and nothing changed still beautiful! The Atlantis theme awesome Poseidon the Greek God unbelievable as a idea love every second there with my family! Picture with the Penguin and the sea lion show amazing experience! Butterfly garden breathtaking with the music . Snorkeling I’m sure unforgettable for the kids . Tickets for adult $42, parking 2 blocks away $12 for the day (not include for the tickets also if you wanna do the snorkeling it’s extra $39 picture with animals extra $22 (food kids eat inside the aquarium) fresh, drinks have free refills soda slushes too. Opening hours not so late weekdays 10-4 weekend till 5 if you wanna enjoy all adventures better to start there earlier. I know it’s cost a lot together but once in the whole worth the trip!

This rating is done in 2021 and highly based on their handling of new protocols. Their new policy states that you must buy tickets ahead of time and slots fill up quick and yet when I arrived, during a school recess it was packed more than I had ever seen it in previous years. I'm not really afraid or worried of it being busy but considering all the restrictions in buying tickets I was expecting it to be a little more spaced out not crammed in. And because of the ticket buying experience and not knowing how restrictive it would be ahead of time we were forced to buy tickets for 3 p.m. slot when they close at 5 as nothing else was available the day before. This made my family and I feel incredibly rushed. Also they now tell you where you can go and what you can do and what order. My son was so excited to see the Stingrays and we have been talking about it all day but when we arrived they told us we had to see the Stingrays last. We maneuvered to the right as requested and did things in order but once again I felt as though we had to keep it moving because we were going to miss out. Ultimately we ended up not having time to see the sea lion show if we wanted to see the butterflies. Finally by the end when we reach the Stingrays they were out of food because it was the end of the day. Another disappointment. Then we get to the butterfly and bird area only to be told that they no longer have the birds that you can feed. We are not told this before purchasing the extra ticket to get into that area. We were not told that on the website before arriving. It was another let-down and frankly I don't think the butterfly room is worth the additional cost. Ultimately this is the only aquarium on Long Island and so we will probably go again as long as my children are still interested. The kids had a nice time and it was a nice family day out however I don't enjoy the new tactics of the aquarium at all. Not to mention the "mask" policy is in violation of Discrimination against Disabilities Act. The executive order states that masks should be worn by persons over two who are medically able to do so while not able to maintain a distance of 6 feet. "Medically able"! On the website it says if you cannot wear a mask, unfortunately even with a medical exemption, you are not welcome at their facility. That is straight up discrimination. I hope somebody Sue's this place class action. They are not providing special times or any other accommodations they simply say we don't want disabled people at our facility. This action makes me feel disgusted, not safer.

Went on Mother's day which is you have a paid child than mom's go for free. Even though my son could have gotten in for free since he's under 2 it was worth paying for him instead of an adult ticket. They gave an otter presentation which I really enjoyed. The butterfly garden was also my favorite. Great fun place for anyone who is an animal lover! Highly recommend

First time here and I lovedddd it! Tickets are a bit pricey as the aquarium itself is pretty small, but it’s worth going! They have a sea lion show that’s amazing, different animals outside like owls, snakes, and otters (no penguins when I went). Then there’s a butterfly exhibit (no parakeets at the moment) which is amazing but the butterflies are in bad shape. There’s a huge shark tank and there’s quite a few sharks in there. The petting tank is amazingly fun, and you don’t need a ticket to pet or feed the sting rays and sharks in the entryway. A great time! Def can spend a whole day here.

Amazing place! Highly recommend to each & everyone whatever age & size. There's shows, so much hands on activities. Great for all the senses to be aroused. My favorite part and only reason I went was for the butterflies. Great butterfly conservatory that's open year round... that's phenomenal. Highly recommend. 🦋The sting rays you can touch and see up close and personal. The sea lions, penguins, monkeys, and ottors are amazing as well & up close and personal. 🦋There's a rescue owl here, lavender brown. 🦋If you love nature, this is the place for you and your loved ones. 🦋there's a cafe here! 🦋there's a gift shop 🦋The staff are all informative & courteous. 🦋there's many events here that take place.

Very cute aquarium with a variety of habitats exhibited. We went in January (Long Island off season) so it was not very busy which was nice because we were able to move at our own pace and not have to deal with crowds to see the exhibits. It’s a pretty small aquarium so we saw everything in under 45 minutes. The admission rate is pretty pricy ($40 for adults) which could be prohibitive for some

The staff get a 4.5. They are really knowledgeable and so enthusiastic. They are so great with visitors especially the children. However, it is really expensive for such a small aquarium. Spent almost $100 on tickets for 1 child and 1 adult plus parking. They charge you $12 to use the playground onsite. The glass on the attractions are hard to see through. My baby struggled to see the creatures. But he did have a great time and so I give it a 3.8.

My 7 month old loved the aquarium but a lot of the exhibits were closed or under construction..Maybe because of the off season (we went on a weekday in mid May) but for the price of admission I expected more. The penguins weren't out and we didnt see sea lions. Many of the tanks looked like they needed to be cleaned and some of the animals looked sad to me. The people working there were very friendly and the girl at the desk did tell us if we waited until 3, the price was half off, which we appreciated. Overall a fun experience but definitely pricey.

A nice place to visit with family and friends. The butterfly section is very interesting and is like you are in the wild along with these creatures. A bit expensive.

I love it that Long Island has an aquarium, however this facility is shopworn. Many of the exhibits are poorly lit, glass windows are fogged up so you have to use your hand to wipe off the window. Unsanitary. Lots of staff to assist you, though. The whole place needs an upgrade and new sponsors. I say this after having visited aquariums all over the country. That being said, the kids will love it. Wading pools, sea lion shows, etc. If you have time take the two hour Explorer boat cruise on the Peconic. Leaves twice a day from the dock in back of Aquarium. Great for kids to learn about the River's unique history and ecology. Purchase tickets on the Aquarium website.

Very big, affordable, lots of really cool exhibits and displays. Really cool tunnels and crooks for kids to get special views of animals. The Seal lion show was great. Positive atmosphere and the animals look healthy and happy. I was a bit sad to hear they no longer had their bird room but they're happy in California now since the pandemic hit. Loved the butterfly/insect room.

Really great experience overall! There are built in zoo exhibits as well as your typical aquarium exhibits. Really friendly and knowledgeable staff. You can ask them about anything and they're happy to answer any animal related questions. You have penguin feeding and sea lion outdoor demonstrations which are kinda fun. My favorite was the sting ray exhibit by the entrance! The butterfly exhibit is a must as well! It's a temperature controlled nursery where butterflies freely fly around a huge room and feed on fruits laid out all around. Definitely walk up the spiral staircase and have a aerial view of the entire room. They even landed on people a bunch of times. There are insects displayed and a huge bee colony behind a honey comb area too. Very cool and neat exhibit. Also tons of free municipal parking in the town that's usually a few blocks away from the aquarium! Toddlers under 2 are free & for people whose birthdays are within 7 days of the visit.

We went in January .2022 with our 8 month old son and had a great time! My fiancé and have been here back in high school so it was a nice family experience. This is great for family fun days hope to be back when our son can walk. The butterfly exhibit was one of the best exhibits this time around.

Very nice aquarium. There were sting rays you can pet when you first enter. There were turtles, seals, sharks, otters, penguins, an octopus, seahorses, an owl, monkeys, butterflies and much more. A good amount required you to walk outside which was unexpected. I enjoyed my time here!

Plan to spend the day. The aquarium is expensive. If you plan to come twice a year it’s worth it to become a member. There is a lot to do to keep everyone entertained. There are shows throughout the day and the staff is knowledgeable and happy to chat about the animals they care about. Also, checkout the rock wall and climbing play area. Food is also expensive so pack snacks.

We really enjoyed our aquarium experience. We were able to get discounted tickets at a local library where a family member recommended. We loved the butterfly habitat, the sea lion show, and loved the area where my daughter got one on one info about sea life in the long island waters, the oysters, clams, mussels, etc. She really loved that. We had a great time at the aquarium.

I recently visited the Long Island Aquarium in Riverhead, and it was a mixed experience. There were various captivating exhibits to explore, with the highlight being the stunning butterfly exhibit that's a must-see. However, my visit was marred by the fact that several exhibits were closed, possibly due to ongoing development or arriving too early. One disappointment was the high cost of food, as I paid a hefty $21 for a grilled chicken sandwich that was mostly filled with lettuce and a side of sweet potato fries. On the positive side, despite the setbacks, the overall experience was enjoyable and fun (I'll update this review in the upcoming days, but I'll leave it like this for the time being so I don't forget to review it).

This is Hands down the best Aquarium Ever!! We had the most amazing time. It's so Interactive for kids and such a great educational learning experience. We stayed at the hotel next door too and did the penguin encounter. I recommend every single thing. I would come here 100 times a month if I could.

I had a hard time rating this one because the experience is great however they did not enforce social distancing at all. The place was not regularly cleaned and children were running everywhere smearing up the glass and just generally out of control. They instated timed entry which would give the appearance of crowd control but they failed miserable in this regard. I felt unsafe and feel like they could be in for a rude awakening if the virus is spread due to their experience.

The Long Island Aquarium was amazing! It was my first visit and I plan to return again this summer. There was so much to do and see that I need another day to see it all. Throughout the aquarium, the staff was helpful and friendly. There were activities offered for an additional cost, such as getting up close and personal with the sea lions. The Peconic River borders one side of the aquarium, which was a beautiful view. I highly recommend going there.

I had a great time at the aquarium and recommend first timers to go there. Pros/Good: the sting ray tank where you get to touch and feed them is great. The small fishes cost 3 dollars for 4 fish. You can also buy food to feed turtles. The sea lions show was also cool and good where you see tricks and dances of sea lion. The butterfly section is good as well where you see different species of butterflies of different colors. There is also a section where you see bees make honeycomb. Bring your own food or drink if you can because long lines at the food court and they are expensive. Only get food there if you have too. Random thought: I hope they treat the animals there good especially the sea lion. Also the shark tank is awesome. The boat ride was a lot of fun. You learn about wildlife, the land. You also go on a very small beach to catch little crabs, snails. You also help use a net to catch little fish. It is worth it for first timers, but not a second because of price. Cons: the place is really pricey. It is 40 dollars per person and to do animal encounters is more expensive. For example for one person for penguin encounter is like 60 dollars. I think the price is what keeps this place from 5 stars. I'd admission was like 20, 25 or 30 it would be acceptable. If the animal encounter prices were cut in half it be so much better. The boat ride is pricey too for 3 people $120. For the first time it was worth it but if it was like 20 dollars instead of 40 it would be better. Overall good place but kinda pricey. If prices go down, I would give this aquarium 5 stars

Small aquarium, you can get through the whole thing within an hour. I recommend getting the yearly passes; it pays off by the 2nd visit. We also get the butterfly yearly pass too. Butterfly section is very nice, has an area where you can go to a 2nd floor balcony-type area. You will see so many butterflies. The aquarium section also has 1 monkey who always seems to be bored and not playing. There are some reptiles and birds as well. Tickets are expensive at $39.99 for anyone aged 13-61. Kids under 3 are free. Parking is $10, but you can find street parking for free if you stay one hour (very doable, just be aware of time & parking street signs).

Went here today for the first time. From the young lady we purchased our tickets from until the time we left was a very happy and memorable day. This place is awesome. We couldn't believe how many different encounters you get to enjoy. From butterfly area to the full size sharks. Every person working here was extremely nice and you could tell they loved what they were doing. Thank you Riverhead aquarium for a memorable day.

Had an amazing time at the aquarium! Haven't been here since I was a kid but me and my friend enjoyed our experience. Although I don't have many pictures, we also went to the Sea Lion show and the Butterfly Room. Overall, a great time and if you are visiting or live on the island, it's a trip that's worth it that's fun for children and adults!

For the experience given I believe it is overpriced. For two of us we paid $100. The specimen displays are good and seem to be well taken care of. The shows were your standard aquarium shows. There were I've cream shops and a butterfly conservatory which was my favorite part.

I went today for the second time and had an even better time than the first! I really enjoyed the touch tanks and other areas where I could interact with the animals such as feeding the rays and wading through the “Peconic Estuary”. I also enjoyed watching the sea lion show! The food court is a bit pricey for my taste but the food is good and the portions are solid. Would recommend to anyone looking for something to do!

The aquarium has a wide variety of see flora and fauna which is great! You can touch rays, horseshoe crabs and even feed them. They have photoshooting with sea lions. It was disappointing as they said children are welcome but only after we paid were we said that children under 7 can not go near the animals therefore we paid for nothing. Anyway it is 22 bucks for 1 ( one ) photo taken.

It is a very beautiful place, with a great setting and a wide exhibition of marine species, nice for children over 3 years old, young people and adults ... The bathrooms are comfortable, the employees are very friendly, the games area needs to fix some machines The food is expensive for potatoes and hamburgers. They should have cheaper options. I recommend you read the menu before eating the food, it is on the top of the cash register 🥲🤔🫨🧐🙈🙉🙊😉😉😉

Today's visit went from bad to absolutely horrible and ruined pretty much the rest of the day. I normally buy tickets at my local library because it's $27 instead of almost 48 at the library. So I purchased four tickets this morning because my daughter gets in for free and I had a friend whose birthday was next Wednesday. When we got there the lady tried to explain to us that his birthday was in fact technically 8 days because they count today as a day which still makes no sense because his birthday was next Wednesday. Which one week equals 7 days not 8. We even pulled up a calendar and tried to do the math with her but she said that we either paid for him or he didn't get in. Whatever! I had another ticket in the car so I just had my one friend run back to my car and grab another ticket. Things took a turn for the worse when we went to the reptile exhibit and we watched the uromastyx lizards get into a full on fight one literally was bitten the other on the side so bad that there was blood. We decided to knock on the door that said employees only to alert them that the one lizard was harmed. We were met with a teenage looking boy sitting down and a bunch of kids just laughing saying oh that's how they play. We tried to explain to them that we all work in an animal store and that lizards don't in fact play with each other like that. I even tried to tell the guy that they should look at the reptile to check out the wound because it was bleeding and he said that the lizard was perfectly fine. Not too sure how a lizard that looks like it was getting half eaten and bleeding everywhere. Perfectly fine but whatever. I honestly don't think I will be returning in the future. It's sucks because the butterfly lady and the lady at the sea turtle were wonderful if only the rest of the staff could take notes.

We couldn’t get in the sea lion show even we showed up at the gate 10 mins before showtime. The staff says there are birthday party today?!? When the show started, I noticed that there are tons of empty seats in the reserved areas!!!! We drove 2 hours to get there. My son was very upset to miss the show. You asked us to book the online tickets that mean you should make sure you have a space enough in Coliseum! Feel disappointed.

Came home to visit. Haven't been here in a few years. Still a great place! Had a very organized layout during this COVID phase. Everything was accessible except the touch tank and feeding the sting rays (which saved me money LOL). We had to make a reservation to go so they can comply with numbers, but we were able to do it the day of. We went last Saturday and it was really nice not having it packed.

The aquarium is small, but my kids had a blast. Not many big ticket exhibits, but there were a lot of hands on experiences. We came during Memorial day weekend, I thought they missed out by not having some things own for the first big season holiday; like the outdoor ice cream shop. Some of the hands on exhibits were stingrays, crabs, sea urchins, butterflies, birds and the best one spider crabs. You can walk into a shallow pool if you are tall enough and actually hold the crabs, horseshoe crabs and conch ( I think they were conch). The staff are very friendly, with the exception of one girl in the aviary with a sour face. Loved the butterfly exhibit, there were also some interesting spiders and insects. Now the food court, just don't. It is horrible! If you have no choice you can grab a salad, pack of apples or sugary yogurt. There is a snow cone machine right outside of the food court that's decent. Like I said it's a great place for the kids they will have a blast. But it's good to know before you go.

The butterfly room alone was worth the price of admission. The wealth of interactive exhibits set this aquarium apart from others I have visited. It was a blast even with ugly weather keeping us from seeing the outdoor exhibits for long. Covid safety measures were strictly followed.

We had an amazing time. My sons loved it. So did we. It was well organized given the state of things right now. The line to get in was long. But moved rather quickly. I do appreciate that they have discounts for veterans, like myself. Make sure you reserve your day and time slot before going. It's a great way to get the kids out of the house and enjoy the day. Perfect for day dates as well. I highly recommend anyone to check it out and have a nice time.

I'm a little biased because we have a fairly nice aquarium in my hometown, so lets just get that out of the way. This charge of entry for two people was around 60-65$ which seemed a little steep to me for what was there. The aquarium does have some good exhibits though and is worth checking out - some below. Jellyfish, Sharks, Rays, Penguins, Sea Otters Tropical Exhibit Mississippi Exhibit Underwater tunnel/walkway Swim adventure in the water Touch pools for kids

Pretty decent right now, all things considered. Most concessions are closed and the in house food left much to be desired, wouldn't recommend. Some of the exhibits are closed, including the birds. But they just opened a new escape room (a little pricey) and they're moving the insectarium there soon. I will definitely return, but they need more events.

Good place to bring your family during this pandemic just to have a breather. Social distancing is being practiced here, so be patient. When buying the tickets, they are sold in time slot. The aquarium is a bit on the smaller size, you can probably finish in 2 hours, unless you waited for all the shows and feeding. Some areas are outdoor, bring an umbrella or poncho if rain is expected. No on site parking. We parked on a residential street a block away. A bit pricey, you do get in for free a week prior and after your birthday.

Been coming here since I was a little girl (when it was still called Atlantis). It’s become such a popular spot, with even more exhibits than when I first came. The staff is very friendly and informative. It’s also right on the water so it really adds to the aquatic theme. Had my sister’s first birthday here as well and it was magical! My all-time favorite aquarium/zoo, it’s definitely worth a long trip from Queens because there’s great restaurants & wineries nearby as well.

  • 4/5 Jim A. 3 years ago on Google
I had some time to kill in Riverhead so spent 90 minutes at the aquarium. Well worth it. Its not a large place, but there is a lot to do. I love going to the aquarium. As a matter of fact every time I visit a city that’s the very first thing I do , I visit the aquarium. The last time I’ve been here was 2 years ago and now this year. It is a wonderful place to be, the displays and the information is great. The sea lion show at the aquarium was pleasant. Unfortunately due to the COVID-19 lots of stores are closed to the public. They did take all the precautions to insure safety. I didn’t give it 5 stars because the aquarium needs an upgrade and lots of things were closed off this time to the public.

  • 2/5 Anj M. 3 years ago on Google
It has gotten really pricey, 10.00 for a pretzel and soda? 20.00 to have a digital picture taken with a seal? The bird section is closed. If it wasn't for the fact they allow you in for free for your birthday, it really isn't worth the money.

  • 3/5 Rabindra S. 3 years ago on Google
Felt bad about the small penguin enclosure. They also rehabilitate injured animals which is a big thumbs up. I think, zoos should be more like sanctuaries and less like exhibition centers.

  • 4/5 Heather L. 3 years ago on Google
It’s a cute little aquarium and when the weather is warmer and all the exhibits are open (and the pandemic slows down more), we’ll probably go back. But it’s still pandemic time and they really need to work on the safety measures here. The entrance was very crowded and there were no 6 foot markers or any staff member there to keep so many people from coming inside at once. It’s supposed to be reserved timed tickets and 25% capacity but it seemed like way more than that. There were arrows drawn all over the floors but not in a way that made sense and kept traffic flowing just in one direction, like the website said. At one point there were 3 different paths of arrows and we were so confused! We tried to stay away from other people but we still felt anxious being inside with so many people. I felt a bit duped because of the way the safety measures are described on the website and then seeing the reality of the situation. I really think they could be doing a better job of enforcing Covid safety protocols. Hopefully no one gets sick from going here.

Enrolled my grandsons in a school break program for one day. They loved it. The aquarium had sufficient counselors for the amount of children enrolled. I would send them to the program in the future.

  • 2/5 Antoinette 3 years ago on Google
Love this aquarium but I don’t get the point of reserving spots in advance because of covid when they just let a massive amount of people in anyway. It was just as crowded as it was before “covid restrictions” which was really disappointing because my baby is to small for a mask so we had to avoid a lot of the exhibits because it was packed with people

  • 3/5 Bronwyn P. 3 years ago on Google
With ticket prices at $23 per person, a visit to the aquarium is a financial commitment. We are a family with three adults and one toddler, so this adventure cost us close to $100. Parking is free, which is nice. Aquariums are costly and even a small aquarium is better than no aquarium and that is why I give LIA three stars. The fish seem as happy as fish in tanks can be. There are not a lot of tanks, however. And the outdoor area seems to be grasping - there is a precious gem mining station, for example. My toddler liked it a lot, but what it has to do with fish was not clear to me. And the monkeys. Why are there monkeys? And there is the second shortcoming of the LIA. Besides being small, it is short on educational resources. The signs that introduce each tank and its occupants are short on meaningful information. We are in Washington, DC at least half the year, and so we have the Baltimore Aquarium, which is the same price and roughly four times the size. I really used to resent having to pay for parking, but that was before I had the LIA to compare it to.

Very expensive n at this pandemic time also their price is expensive, with mask on why it’s still $35 not worth. Their aquarium is small not as good what I thought it was. Many stuff u cannot touch n cannot go closer n cannot take picture without mask so why they were charging regular prices. Not worth it.. even when I tried to call their penguin encounter timings n service by phone n it says leave a message we will call u back which no one, no one called me back. Worst experience n didn’t had good customers service. I promise won’t go back again n won’t at all recommend. Very disappointing.. zero star..

Such an awesome and unique experience at this aquarium that provides kids with so much excitement activities to be interactive. There are so many exhibits to stop by view close- up. The shark exhibit was by far the best along with the sea lion show outside. We actually saw a penguin put on an impromptu show for us. There is a lot of outside seating so it is a good idea to walk with lunch and snacks for the kids. I would recommend this aquarium simply because of the educational and fun experience it provides for children and adults alike. Please do visit the gift shop!

This was one of the best aquariums that I’ve been to. It was nice that it wasn’t overly crowded and we were able to see everything that was offered. It was raining when we visited but many of the buildings had coverings to get from one to another. Don’t let the rain stop you. There were many tanks to see the animals and we were also able to see the monkeys and the butterflies. Parking was 12 dollars cash if you park in their lot which was about a block and a half away, we ended up parking on Main Street for free, (2hour parking) Would definitely visit again, (30 year olds date day). They also had my favorite water in the cafeteria, ZenWtr!

The aquarium was a good time, the place of small for the price per person. We paid $40 per person plus they got rid of the bird sanctuary which was a bummer . As far as the animals they're always great to see so my review is based on the Price. It's definitely a great place to bring the kids plus you can set up your wedding venue here.

Had an absolute wonderful time!!! They had an amazing spread of cheeses, fresh breads, crackers, and meats! The variety of wine and beer from local wineries and breweries were delicious! Live music was performed and played throughout the aquarium and best of all you can enjoy your treats while admiring all the beautiful fish around you:) This was my first time going and I have to say I want to go every year!

  • 4/5 Jennifer F. 2 years ago on Google
Even though the aquarium is full of children running around and strollers everywhere, it was still a very cool place to hang. The Butterfly exhibit put me at such a calm state, watching the Sea Lion show was 10mins of entertainment and Jaba the sea Lion was Hilarious and last the Lost shark exhibit was amazing with the music in the Background really put you on edge. All in all it was a great 2 hour exploration of marine life.

I really like the exhibition with butterflies. Every time I am charged here with positive and good mood, it's like returning to childhood, I want to smile more often! Also, I want to thank you for the wonderful and informative boat trip on the Tour boat on September 3rd. In conclusion, I want to say that this is a really interesting place to have fun with both children and grandparents, for the whole family. If you plan to visit the Aquarium several times a year, buy a membership - it will save you time and money.

Great aquarium. We were so engaged in the experience that I barely took any pictures or videos. Definitely need to go back soon.

Kids (3,5,8) had a great time. Especially with the butterflies! We went on a week day. Not very crowded . A lot to explore. Spent about 4 hours.

Went during the spring break and were lucky to see octopus walking around (in the tank), cute iguana, got a kiss from a sea lion (need to purchase additional sea lion selfie tickets) and shark eggs. Kids got so excited about the sharks, stingrays, sea horses, unicorn fishes, penguins. Don’t miss the sea turtles and tree frogs. There’s also an outdoor treehouse for kids 45 inches or taller. Tickets a little pricey considering about the size, will recommend compare the membership package to the regular price before you purchase.

Nice aquarium but definitely not worth $90 for 2 people and on top of that the interactive exhibits were another $30 or so a person. Toured the whole place in less than an hr

Title: A Stellar Visit to the Long Island Aquarium Review: Our recent visit to the Long Island Aquarium in Riverhead, NY, turned out to be an unforgettable experience, far exceeding our expectations for a typical summer outing. Despite the scorching July heat, the well-planned exhibits, informative talks, and engaging live sea lion shows captivated us throughout our journey. The staff was friendly, courteous, and unmistakably professional when we entered. Kudos to their well-maintained uniforms and their evident enthusiasm for the roles they play. Each staff member we encountered was well-versed with the specific marine life area they were assigned and was more than willing to engage with our curiosities. The aquarium design and decor are immersive, plunging you into the underwater realm with its intelligent, aquatic-themed set-up. We were particularly impressed with the myriad species of marine life on display, a testament to the aquarium's biodiversity, which houses over 10,000 creatures ranging from the fascinating sharks to the adorable penguins. Educational talks and informative sessions dotted our day, making it more than a visual treat. The live sea lion show was a standout experience, a perfect blend of entertainment and education, with trainers showcasing the skills of these intelligent mammals and emphasizing their conservation needs. We took a whimsical detour to the butterfly exhibit, where observing the butterflies feeding on fruits was a colorful spectacle that added a delightful dimension to our marine exploration. One must note the carefully crafted exhibits that the aquarium houses. The coral reef and touch tank were favorites, bringing us closer to the vibrant underwater life. With its close-to-natural arctic environment set-up, the penguin exhibit was another star attraction, allowing us to observe these playful birds in an environment designed to mimic their natural habitat. The Long Island Aquarium has done a commendable job of marrying education with entertainment. Their commitment to creating awareness about marine life conservation and providing a safe, engaging, and family-friendly environment shines through in every corner. While the pricing could be on the higher end and lines can be longer on busy weekends, the overall experience provided by the Long Island Aquarium more than compensates for these minor inconveniences. This 12-acre haven is a must-visit for anyone with a love for marine life, a curious mind, or simply looking for a memorable family day out. The aquarium is a testament to what can be achieved when entertainment combines education and a keen sense of responsibility toward our marine ecosystems. Our experience at the Long Island Aquarium was not just another summer day outing; it was a journey into the aquatic world that left us inspired and eager to return. The Long Island Aquarium is a treasure trove of marine life, and we highly recommend it to anyone seeking an immersive, enlightening, and enjoyable experience. Don't miss the live shows and participate in the educational programs. Our day was an unforgettable blend of learning, exploration, and fun, and we can't wait for our next visit!

The butterfly exhibit was really nice but the fish tanks were pretty dirty looking. I've been to 3 other aquariums and their water doesn't look like that. I was impressed with how clean the penguin enclosure seemed though. Lastly, the parking is no good. The parking lot you get directed to 2 blocks away is all sand and huge potholes. It makes it tough for strollers and the elderly
