J's home cooking was recommended to my group by the Dan Deery Toyota. We pulled into a full parking lot. There was one empty table available to sit at. Every dish ordered was SO GOOD! My omelet and my friends omelet were so good. My pancakes were so thick and fluffy. Thick and fluffy is hard to pull off. The pancakes taste was exceptional! When we left, the parking lot was still full. They were busy because the local customers are loyal for a reason.

We were looking for some place new to try breakfast and stumbled across J's homestyle cooking in Cedar Falls. Super cute quaint little diner with booth and table seating available. Super nice waitress. Food was all very good. Tried the pork lovers omelette, pancake, side salads and coffee and enjoyed it all.. pancake was delicious! We will be back.

Great food, excellent service! Took a friend for her birthday and she said the veggie omelette was the best she'd ever had!

My food was cold and I had to wait a very long time for a coffee refill. The gravy tasted like it came out of a can. My eggs were overcooked. My hash browns were still frozen a little bit in the middle. Even my toast was cold. The country fried steak was rubber and soggy. It's a shame because I had high hopes. There was a line going out the door for this place. So I'm kind of sad.

This is a busy place for good reason. The food is really good, servers are so nice, and even though there's a long wait on the weekends, the service is pretty good. Good comfort food in a hometown diner. This is our second time coming. I suggest you come in on a weekday to avoid the crowd. Good prices on food, too.

The hotbeef sandwich is always hard to beat at J's. I come here for lunch whenever I'm visiting family in Cedar Falls. The desserts are also top notch.

I enjoy going here! The cookies are the best. I enjoy their omelettes and the kids enjoy the smile pancake with M&M's. This place is almost always packed and hard to find a parking spot and table, have to go at off hours. My wife likes the breakfast burrito. They have good service and get the food out pretty quickly.

Truly a hidden gem in Cedar Falls. Great prices, good food, especially breakfast, the staff are excellent, and the general look and atmosphere of the place is cozy. Overall, highly recommend for some good home-cooked style food.

Very popular local eatery, expect to wait. Small dining area, chairs at a counter as well. Food was amazing!! We had omelettes, crispy hash browns, and homemade bread (an inch thick!!) Will definitely be back when visiting family again!!

My Omelette wasn't too bad, lots of mushrooms and cooked well. The hash browns were done nicely, and the toast was okay. As far as diners go, the food here was above average to me. The service was great and the atmosphere was good. I could tell a lot of people were regulars.

This is the PLACE TO EAT. The best diner experience I have had in years! The people working there are fantastic! A must stop! 10/14/23 another great visit! Tried the gravy on my breakfast burrito this time...and now I have a new favorite 😍!

The food flavor was good, the mash wasn't hot through out, was a good serving. Had some peach pie, not the best but ok. Will definitely go again
