The Kankalitala Temple is the 51st 'Swati peeth' and is located in Birbhum district of West Bengal, 10km away from Bolpur-Santiniketan railway station. Beside the temple the famous 'Kopai' river flows. It is a holy place for all Hindu people. The ambience of the place is very good and the temple is well maintained but beside the temple there is a holy pond which is very dirty and priest says that maa swati's body part is in the pond. I have become amazed to see that how a holy pond where God is present (people's opinion) can remain so much dirty. I think the temple authority and government should take care of this matter. It is a matter of belief and this thing has disappointed me. Overall I enjoyed the place but this thing have shocked me. The magnificent view of 'Kopai' river surely will amaze you. So please come and visit the place and worship here to get blessings. This place should be there in your list if you are planning to visit Bolpur-Santiniketan. Thank you so much. Do like and follow my profile so that you can get more information about the places I review.

It is one of the five Sati Peeths of Birbhum District. There is a small pond where Maa Parvati's Pelvic Region (কাঁকাল) fall. The speciality of this temple is that, there is no Idol of Devi, only a picture is there instead. At particular dates, the place remains crowded with people giving offerings to Devi. You can view the burial place which is located on the bank of Kopai river. However, construction work is going on, but this is not much problematic.

One of the 51pith is Kankali tala mandir. People come here to worship the goddess 'Ma Kali' 🙏 Here foods are also served everyday by buying coupons. A beautiful surrounding scenery with rivers and long open fields. Parking Place is also available for cars and bikes. A small mela is also held there at specific occations. Other than that everyday u'll get small shops selling the traditional santiniketan items. In corona time the place is very well sanitized, people are seen wearing masks properly. A must visit place for worship..

Beautiful temple. It is said that the devi is very much 'jagroto'. Here a picture of devi is worshipped not any idol or stone. Its a very open place. In special days you have to wait in lines to offer puja.

This is one of the Shakti Peeths and is located about 5-7 Kms from Bolpur/Prantik. The temple is very well known in that area and hence reaching there is not at all a problem. It's a sprawling campus with ample greenery. Quite a few shops outside offering pooja items. The process of offering puja was smooth. If one reaches early in the morning then there's very little rush. There's also a beautiful Shiva temple adjacent to it. In terms of cleanliness, there's some opportunity of improvement around the steps leading to the holy kund.

Kankalipith is one of the Shaktipeeth and must visit place which is near to Bolpur, Shantiniketan. There is a holy pond/Kund where devi waist portion fall. A temple has made beside that pond as a remark of parbati devi. A photo is placed there instead of idol. This place is very clean & peaceful but that pond needs to be clean and tidy. There is no panda system. If you wish you can buy puja dali outside of temple. This temple is situated bank of Kopai River. A old  lord Shiva temple also situated beside parking area. This place is developing day by day. There is huge car parking area. This place is well connected and anyone can go by toto reservation.

Very nice temple. The mythology of Daksha yaga and Sati's self immolation is the story of origin behind Shakti Peethas.  Shakti Peethasare holy abode of Devi formed due to the falling of body parts of the corpse of Sati Devi, when Shiva carried it and wandered through. There are 51 Shakti Peeth linking to the 51 alphabets in Sanskrit. Each temple has shrines for Shakti and Kalabhairava. The Shakti of the temple is addressed as "Devgarbha" and the Bhairava as "Ruru". It is believed that Sati Devi's bones have fallen here.

This is the last Satipeeth among the 51 Satipeeths of Devi. Here it is believed that Sati's bones have fallen here. This place is moderately crowded. Recommended to plan for a visit early in the morning to avoid the crowd. You can also get to see, dance and enjoy the traditional Birbhum dance. The place is very calm and holds high value for Hinduism. It is a little far from Santiniketan city.. You can book or reserve a local Toto service which will take you to the place and also can be availed for the return journey. Several shops are available outside the temple from where you can buy Devi offerings and Prasad. Also you can keep your footwear in the same shop until you return.

One of the shaktipeeth where bone of Mata Sati fell down. Here Shakti is known as Devgarbha and bhairav is Ruru. It is a small temple where a big picture of Ma Kali is placed in garbhagrih. Outside the temple there is big parking place and many shops selling religious items and handicrafts. Many beggars are lined up outside temple sitting on side of the road. Temple is well connected by motorable road. Bhakts are allowed to go inside the garbhagrih and give offerings but priest will haggle for high dakshina. A small temple pond is also there, but water is dirty.

Kankalitala is one of the "shakti peeth" among 51. It's 10km away from Bolpur, Shantiniketan. The weather over here is very nice surrounded by trees so there always warm and cool breeze weather. One can hire a ToTo or Car from Bolpur to go there. There are many dogs who are very human friendly and sweet. Also one can get Manohara or Monda sweet available there at just Rs.5 each.

The ambience of this place is calm. If you want to enjoy its real vibe, visit in normal days rather than any festival day. You can eat Bhog Prasad at noon at a very reasonable price, and I really liked the taste. There is no disturbance of any Panda here, you can worship the Goddess peacefully. There are some local shops who sells handmade jewelleries.

This is a very nice calm and quiet place near Shantiniketan. It takes only 15 to 20 minutes by car or an EPV (Toto) to reach the temple which is situated on the bank of Kopai River. It's the last one of 51 Shakti Peeths where the waist of Sati was dropped in a pond as per the story goes. The main temple as well as Kanchishwar temple inside the compound have been renovated nicely. Plenty of seating arrangements under the trees. There is a burning ghat nearby. One big rath is also there inside the temple compound. A serene place to stay for an hour or so.

This temple has so much importance in Hindu Sastra. In the story of Daksha Yajna, the waist part of Sati is fell in this place. It is one the 51 Sati pith. It's a very devotional place. In Saturday, there is a crowd to worship. There are baul singers and folk dancers to entertain you.

Kankalitala is one of 51 Sati shakti peeth places. Most beautifully built temple in natural surroundings near kopai River bank ( the river described in tagore poems). This is the last peeth of 51 shakti peeth. You can purchase the offerings sweets etc from near by shops. Excellent ambiance, enjoy traditional santhal dance in backyard of the temple.

This place holds the vibe of spirituality. I went on a Sunday and yet there wasn’t too much rush. They takes the name, Gotro and will give 3mins time for the puja. You have to enchant the mantra after hearing it from him. People has to know the puja timings before planning. Morning puja time: 6am to 12pm and then there’s a break time. Puja resume after 3pm and continues until 9pm. Dali costs from ₹51(where you’ll not get the mala) up until ₹251(as per the garland prices it varies). There’s too many options of having Mayer Vog, but after looking out and speaking with a few locals came to know that, the one which is alongside the mandir is only genuine. You have to buy ticket before 12pm. Price: ₹50. Car parking charges: ₹20. Location: it is 8kms away from bolpur Station. Lots of local handmade items are also available for sale within the mandir ground. But I felt the price on the higher side compared to Sonajhuri Hat.

Kankalitala Shaktipeeth Temple is near to the Sonajhuri or Biswabharati. It's considered as a Satipeeth actually as it's believed that one body part of sati or Maa Durga fell at the place mainly in a small pond beside the temple. Very fascinating stories revolve around the place, for example, the pond is always full of water no matter the weather condition, also people getting strange objects out of the pond indicating mysterious power working there. Overall I really enjoyed the place as no person was bothering us to spend money on the puja process and also it's surrounded by trees giving the place a peaceful and cool environment. No entry ticket is required, it's free for all devotees. There's a dedicated zone for parking of four wheelers and two wheelers and in that place itself, one can buy souvenirs made by locals and also get food and snacks.

This temple is very divine in Shantinekatan Bolpur .Dedicated to Goddess Sati, the temple is considered among the 51 Shakti Peeth, which are spread across the whole Indian Subcontinent. According to religious texts, King Daksha, father-in-law of Lord Shiva, had organized a yajna. In which, King Daksha did not send invitations to Lord Shiva and Mother Sati (daughter of King Daksha) because King did not consider Lord Shiva as his equal. When Goddess Sati got to know about it, She felt very bad and decided to reach there in yajna without invitation. Then, King Daksha insulted Lord Shiva at the yajna site, which Mata Sati could not bear, and she jumped into the Havan Kund. Lord Shiva came to know about this, after which he reached there and took out the body of Goddess Sati from Havan Kund and started doing Tandava (the dance of destruction), which caused upheaval in the entire universe. Lord Vishnu divided the corpse of Goddess Sati into 51 parts from his Sudarshan Chakra to save the earth from the anger of Lord Shiva. The places where the parts of Sati’s body fell, became the Shakti Peeth.

One of the attractions of Bolpur Santiniketan is the Kankalital temple. The distance of this temple is 9 km from Bolpur so it will take only 20-30 minutes to go by auto, toto or any car. You will love this temple on the banks of the river Kopai. Those who come to visit Santiniketan must come here once and pay homage. In ancient times this place was known as Kanchi. This place is also mentioned in Tantrachuramani. According to the pedestal diagnosis, Sati's bones were worn here, hence the name Kankalitala. There are various miracles involved with Kankalitala. So this place is attractive to tourists. Note that Kankalitala is very famous for Gupta Tantrasadhana. Along with the devotees, there is a large crowd of tourists here throughout the year. Adjacent to the temple is a Shiv temple where you can worship. Panda is not a problem here, one has to worship through the temple priest along the line. The idol is not worshiped here. The image of Shiva Kali is worshiped here.We arrived on Sunday morning so the crowd was a little less. So the pujo was given in a very good way. Next to the temple there is a place of sacrifice and a small paved pond. There are several wide pieces in the tank, which the devotees have identified as part of the body of the goddess. These pieces of stone are taken out of the tank every twenty years, then after the puja they are re-immersed in the water of the tank.
