Newark Air Museum is a great Cold War museum with two hangars packed with aircraft and many external exhibits. On the day we visited the Vulcan Bomber was open for tours, our guide was a Vulcan crewman and gave an insight into their operations. On my previous visit the Shackleton was open, but it appears that it is presently undergoing renovation. They've also upgraded their cafe since my last visit, the facilities are excellent. Did I mention that they also have a great model and book shop, well worthy of a peruse.

First visit and I was amazed that this remote museum had so much to offer. Great selection of aircraft, outside and inside 2 hangars, really good flow the the site, outside displays were clean and interesting. Cafe was great and really nice food as reasonable prices. Model shop had a good selection of items. Picnic benches on site to allow food to be eaten. Good day out for and well priced.

Great air museum with a wide variety of aircraft to look at both outside and in two hangars. Its best to have some pound coins on you when you visit as if you're lucky the volunteers will occasionally give tours of craft and allow you inside cockpits for a small donation. Nice little cafe too serving a good cup of tea and a little gift shop.

Great museum. Incredible in the sunshine. My husband had a great time. We both enjoyed a drink and sausage roll in the sunshine amongst the planes. The gardens there are incredible too, well looked after. We even left with some purchases from the shop.

You can spend a nice couple of hours here with younger children, but probably not the best place to take a teenager unless they happen to be plane enthusiasts! The Vulcan was definitely the highlight, and there were some interesting exhibits for grown ups. The café was definitely worth visiting, serving delicious cakes and tasty coffee.

Great visit was quiet so plenty of time to get the photos. All the exhibits were well explained with lots of details. Nice gift shop and lots of books which you could buy for a donation.

What a great place to visit. The volunteers do an immaculate job on keeping this place neat and tidy and are always willing to stop and talk with people. The cafe had lovely people running it and the food was great especially the cakes.... Even if you don't like planes it is still interesting to look around and I would say give yourself a couple of hours to go around. Had a lovely visit today so thanks to all the volunteers.

A really good place to visit if you are interested in military aviation. I only had 1.5 hours due to a tight schedule and I could have done with an extra hour or so to take everything in. A great variety of aircraft and various other items. Didn't use the cafe so I can't comment. The gift shop had some great products and the staff were pleasant.

Absolutely excellent air museum, lots of well preserved aircraft. Plenty of space so photography is good, lovely cafe for food and drink at reasonable prices. Access easy from the A46 / A17 services for fuel nearby.

What an absolutely superb museum of aircraft and memorabilia from all ages set in wonderful grounds. This was our first visit from South Wales and it won’t be our last. From our greeting on reception to the superb volunteers and their knowledge this is a fabulous day out for all ages. (And the tea and cakes in the cafe were wonderful as well)

Nice lad on the Reception. It was a quick visit on a wet and windy day, 27/12/22, £10 adult entry which is well worth it to try and keep museums going! Cafe on the grounds but didn't get time to use it, nice gift shop around Reception, with 'pocket money' gifts. Definitely visit again when the weather is better!

A very enjoyable day out. A lot to see, nice food at the cafe. We even got to go in the Vulcan cockpit which was the highlight of my daughters day. Everyone we spoke with was so friendly.

Great place if you're into aviation. Plenty to see and do. I think it's mainly about research and development aircraft and there's some real beauty's. Everything is on one level, so ok for wheelchairs and pushchairs. There's a souvenir shop, which has lots of choice with the exception of diecast. There was a few Corgi, but that was all. Great place for all the family. Well worth a visit. Entrance for adults is currently £10.

What a fantastic day, not only was it cheap to visit the museum, it was a £1 to go and sit in the Vulcan and be educated by a former captain who was a very interesting man to listen to. Even the cafe was a reasonable price to eat at. Highly recommend.

A great visit, staff are friendly and helpful. One great guy who is a volunteer, he told us about the different types of aircraft guns and the ammunition that's used. Plenty to read and look at, not much for interaction for the younger kiddies, but the shop have plenty of toys for them 😉 The volcun is a welcome site as you arrive, awesome site to see.

Went to the Newark air museum as a stop gap measure , after Bomber command museum cancelled all activities , Brilliant afternoon. Sadly didn't have time to get around properly , . Unfortunately wouldn't accept Blue light card or Defence card , we were a group of 12 Veterans from Wigan May go again in a couple of years

Lots of planes on display. Friendly staff. Our 3 year old enjoyed this trip and got to sit in a helicopter. Nice little cafe on site with drinks, cakes.

Amazing little known gem. Great independent air museum. Displays are informative and laid out well. Nice cafe tops it off. Not forgetting it has a Vulcan just as you go in plus a Shackleton that you can walk through. A well presented 2-3 hour visit.

Amazing place to visit and learn about our aircraft heritage. The people who work there were extremely knowledgeable and pleasant. Lots to see for both children and adults.

I used to drive past this place every day and kept meaning to visit, but then covid happened and I never got the chance. Then I was in the area and had a couple of hours spare, so dropped in with no expectations. So glad I did! It’s a huge place with so much love and attention put into it by the volunteers. So much to see and learn here, whether it’s walking under the wings of the awe-inspiring Vulcan, viewing a modern jet fighter like the Sea Harrier up close, studying an H-bomb or Sidewinder missile, or learning about the rich history of the RAF or air navigation technology. It’s all here! Great little cafe too. Give yourself at least 2 hours to do it justice.

Fantastic collection of aircraft and other items, some of which pleasantly surprised me. My only gripe was the prices of some of the items in the cafe and the shop, which could be a little too high for what you get, but the experience and the friendly staff more than make up for it

An excellent museum with an amazing collection of aircraft, particularly post war British jets. I've never seen so many Canberras in one place, and the Vulcan is fabulous. Has some unusual types including a Javelin and night fighter Meteors.

Fantastic museum with a great selection on aircrafts, many of which you can go inside. Vulcan talk was great and well worth the £1 donation. Onsite cafe also fantastic with a great selection of food and cakes which are very reasonably priced. Would deffinately visit again

One of the best collections of cold war aircraft in the country. My personal favourite is the Saab Viggen, a childhood fav. Some of the displays are open to allow you to climb in and explore. All of the museum staff are friendly and approachable. The museum is very easy to get to with a decent amount of parking. I would recommend a sturdy pair of shoes and a warm jacket as most of the planes are outside where it gets very windy. As the displays are outside with flat paths I would say this is wheelchair and child friendly.

Lovely place to visit. Improved a lot. Lovely cafe and delicious cake. Informative staff. Surprised no military /blue light discount. We have blue light cards as these are also recognised for military discount nowadays.

Had a great time with my 2 year old son today. Huge selection of aircraft to look at and loads of info around the site which was very informative. Highly rate it here for a great trip out with kids that love aviation. Service was very good, my son says thank you again for his toy aeroplane 😊
