A first time visit for my nipper and I to photograph the visiting bohemian waxwing. We were not to be disappointed, either - upwards of a hundred birds here, feeding on an abundance of hawthorn berries. The cafe itself is very popular indeed, due not only to its great service but it's location on the old railway line trail. Site has a very large car park, but fills quickly. Good food and drinks.

Parked here for the Monsal Trail. Excellent place to start the walk. Large car park with plenty spaces. The cafe has seating indoor and outdoor. Good menu selection. We visited on a damp Sunday afternoon and it was still buzzing with people. Woodfire pizza van also on the day we visited. Would definitely visit again.

Lovely little cafe and gift shop. We joined the Monsal trail from here. Main car park was full but parked in the field literally over the road which was free! TIP: Head for the field parking on arrival. Plenty of benches available if you plan on bringing your own picnic. Joining the trail from here takes approx 1.5hrs to Monsal Dale with kids.

Visited this cafe last week during our walk along the Monseal Trail. We did not know about it but was pleasantly surprised when we came across it. They have a good selection of gluten free cakes, other than chocolate brownie 😋. The portions are very generous too. You can sit in a covered area with your fur babies or there is seating inside. We will definitely be going back soon😍

Lovely café and shop on the peak cycle trail. We hired bikes for 2 hours and managed half of the trail which was really easy with some beautiful views. You can hire the bikes for 4 hours to do the whole trail. Suitable for walkers as well. Great fun even if you haven't been on a bike for years. They also hire out e-bikes!

This place has great food, reasonable priced, great service (it's a very well oiled and efficient operation so don't be put off if there's a queue at the counter, it shouldn't take long to be served, our food came to us relatively quickly despite it being a busy day) and equally great and well maintained facilities. Word of advice though, get there early on nice weekend days or school holidays if you want a parking space. Although you shouldn't really worry about that since there is free on street parking at the Bakewell end of the trail. The café is a fair walk from there but is totally worth it (and you will have worked up an appetite). There is a cycle hire place next door with fairly decent looking kit but we took our own. It was a busy sunny Sunday when we last went so there were a lot of people on the trail as you might expect. The rule is keep left to minimise accidents whether on foot or wheel. Be aware though that some people, despite it being a busy family day out destination, feel the need to do some serious cycling on the trail. We wondered why they chose to do their serious cycling there and then considering the circumstances. So be vigilant for small children and pets, they could get run over!

Fantastic place for Bird life. 300 waxwings, bullfinch, red wings on the day we visited. Lots of parking, but get there early if there are unusual wildlife visitors! Good cafe and toilets.

Great café. Lots of indoor & outdoor seating. [Dog + muddy boot friendly] Efficient friendly staff. Really fresh & local producer menu. Beautiful location with walking on doorstep.

Because we are socially distancing we ordered food and drink to take out (it was a cold day so we wanted to sit in our car to eat it) The hot drinks were served a long time ahead of the food meaning my husband took the drinks to the car and by the time I joined him with the food my drink was already starting to go cold. It was a gingerbread latte, served with a tiny biscuit in the cream topping. The biscuit had sunk and was a soggy mess in the bottom when I finally got to drink it. The food was lovely but when ordering to take out food and drink should be served together

Came with a group for a walk on the Monsal trail. Parking is limited and was full. Probably best to get there early. Great selection of food on offer. Hot chocolates were amazing! Great starting point for walks. Indoor and outdoor seating and lots of runners walkers and cyclers around. Plenty of toilets for customers too.

3rd visit here over the course of 2 years. Foods great and coffee is good too! Got absolutely loads of salmon yesterday and for £8.50 it was a bargin. Couldn't have even made it cheaper. Nice little play park for the kids and good spot to ride the bikes too. Highly recommended :)

Great lunch stop whilst cycling along the Monsal trail old railway line. It's a good sized cafe in an old railway station with seating inside and out, mostly under cover, plus a big car park and cycle hire next door. Direct foot and bike access from the trail. Good menu plus a pizza hut and bar. Great prices.

Lovely cafe, with lots of seating both indoor and outdoor. You can order via your phone or in person inside at the till point. Good selection of food , great to see vegan choices too. The date and walnut cake was lush, as was the lemon meringue pie, which was a meal in itself! Staff were friendly and helpful and were following Covid protocols. You can park here or walk to the cafe, we were camping at Dale Farm, so popped in on the way back from walking to Bakewell and back. Would like to visit for breakfast next time we are up that way.

Haven't been here for nearly 10 years. Its changed quite a bit but for the good. The Cafe is excellent and reasonably priced, and from what we saw good portions and lots of choice, we only had drinks. Great starting place for the Monsel trail, and although we didnt hire a bike, it looked as though you had plenty to choose from including a trike. Parking is a bit naughty, you pull into the car park pay for you stay, then walk past a sign that says free parking after this sign for cafe users, or words to that effect, But lovely old station that's found a new lease of life and is successful.

We popped in here on our way back from the old railway walk, the rain was heavy and we needed a quick place to hide! We only had a herbal tea but the service was brilliant, the lady behind the counter was friendly and helpful and the service was quick. The prices seemed okay, a little on the high side but nothing outrageous. The place is huge with many tables both inside and outside under a cover, the place was clean too. The vibe felt quite cold and empty though with not a lot of atmosphere or character. We also popped in the shop where they had some beautiful autumnal displays with a variety of both handmade and shop bought goodies. The prices were very reasonable and staff members friendly. The toilets outside were in good condition and reasonably clean (seeing as it had been very muddy out)

It is a fabulous place, which I highly recommend for refreshments if you're doing the Monsal Trail. Whether it's just coffee and cake (delicious) or a hot lunch, the many choices on offer are amazing. Friendly, efficient staff, and obviously dog friendly, too, as there is lots of seating indoor and out. There's also a beautiful craft/gift shop on site.

Great stop off and obviously very popular but never seemed to be too full so as not to find a table to sit and enjoy a drink and some food.

Superb place to stop for refreshments on the Monsal Trail with a lot of undercover seating on those wet days. Staff using face masks still. Plenty to find in the shop it is also a place for bike rental

Had a really good breakfast there this morning, and a great sandwich yesterday. Well-placed on the Monsal Trail, and right next to our room at Hassop Station Rooms. The only reason I haven't rated a 5 is because of the roof leak right above our table. ☂️

Phoned up the day before to see if we needed to book (3 adult 1 e-bike), but told it wasn't necessary. Paid their car park fee, as you do, then went to the cycle hire centre and told they had no e-bikes. Recommend using the National Park cycle hire in future - 4 locations within the Peak District - rather than these artists.
