The service is quick but this place can be busy so be prepared to wait a bit. However, your waiting is rewarded by authentic flavours! Everything is fresh and made by a lovely lady. The beef was so tender and the fried chicken so crispy! The signature iced coffee was refreshing and so sweet that it makes you wish you had a bottomless cup! Thankfully, you can also buy coffee beans here so you can experience this at home!

It’s all about attention to detail and Ngopi have nailed it on so many fronts. Enter and take a look at the uniquely Indonesian style decor, which uses a consistent theme. Take a look at the menu and you’ll see a unique selection of small Indonesian bites to complement your Coffee that has been sourced from... Indonesia. where In the UK can you find somewhere like Ngopi (probably in London, but let’s put the big smile to one side for the moment)? In Birmingham! Be proud and say it loud “I love Ngopi!”

An open and spacious dine-in cafe with a rather chilled atmosphere. Relaxing place to enjoy a cup of coffee but also taste some fast Indonesian cuisine with a modern twist. A photo of the limited menu attached.

An Indonesian café serve delicate food. 印尼菜 The best: Tahu Lsi(Deep fried stuffed tofu puff) the batter was so light without being too oily, impressive. Indonesian fried rice was also standout,in total we ordered 7 dishes, all have good performance. The only thing I'd complain is the smell... Not much ventilation so the cute café was full of poor cooking oily smell, reminds me of some cheap takeaway. So hope they can improve and makes it really comfortable for eat in guests.

A cozy little cafe serving Indonesian coffee and food. It was busy when I arrived so only the table next to the till was available. Unfortunately that meant that anybody putting in an order was standing over me which made me feel very uncomfortable. I ordered Kopi Susu (coffee with milk) and Batagor (fried fish and prawn dumplings in a peanut sauce.) The coffee came within 10 minutes of waiting. It was smallish in size but came in a lovely glass carafe ready to be poured into a tiny cup. Although I don't usually have sugar in my coffee, I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet, milky coffee. The wait for food was another 50 minutes and I thought I had been forgotten as I sat awkwardly at table feeling like I was in the way of anybody who wanted to put in an order. When the food arrived it looked amazing and tasted delicious. It was soon eaten. I would of happily ordered more food and coffee if it was for the extremely long waiting times putting me off. The prices were very reasonable. Maybe if I hadn't gone at lunch time on a Saturday I might of had a much better experience, but after having a tasty coffee and a very appetising and flavourful meal I felt too uncomfortable to stay there any longer and actually went somewhere else for another coffee that didn't taste half as good but I recieved it instantly and drank it in more comfortable surroundings. I will go back though, maybe during the week in the hope of a better experience because the coffee and food is great.

My first try of Indonesian food and it tasted very good. Feels very authentic. The chairs are comfortable, the staff helpful and interior brightly lit and spacious. Very much recommend this place for a bite, a coffee/tea and just relaxing. Hope this place lasts for a long time.

Deliciously authentic Indonesian food! The spice level is perfect for anyone who enjoys a kick but doesn’t want it too hot. If you’re an Asian spice lover, can definitely ask for extra spice. The beef is scrumptiously flavoured and has a lovely bite to it.

Was so happy finding Nasi goreng (Indonesian fried rice) here. We were craving this for so long. Will try more Indonesian meal in our next visit. The cafe is small but packed and you see more Indonesian natives - which is a good sign.

This place is one the best Indonesian food resto in UK. They served variety of Indonesia food and coffee. The food also has authentic taste especially nasi rendang and nasi ayam geprek. Teh tarik, Ice tea, and coffee served reminds me about Indonesia memories. It is a perfect place if you want to taste Indonesian culinary in the UK.

Loved this little gem in Birmingham! The food and drinks were amazing, and the staff was very kind and helpful. I went to get some work done and then met a friend for lunch and it was the perfect vibe for both. The food has something for everyone—vegan, snacks, halal, and a variety of fun drinks. I’d definitely go back!

I have been meaning to come here for some time. A bit hidden out of the way opposite HMV in Dale end. It was a cold wet day at about 3pm which would explain the steamy windows which obscured the view inside. I ordered the fried chicken, which came with some rice, tempah some fried tofu and some sambal. It was all very delicious the chicken was perfectly cooked and was both crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The sambal was the best I've had both spicy, tangy and sweet. Great value for £9. Coffee was also excellent and worth the trip alone. They roast their own beans on-site which you can buy there as well as some merch. Next time I'm in town I'll make it my first stop!

Its a really cute indonesian cafe with delicious food. It has a very authentic indonesian feel as soon you enter the cafe. It's a great cafe for indonesian or people who have moved from Indonesia. The food was all freshly prepared and tasted amazing. The down points were they were not organised. I reserved I advanced however they mentioned they did not receive any booking despite us getting a notification that our place was reserved. We had to wait for a good one hour before the food arrived. The timing we chose was a very busy period and probably not many people cooking the food. But the food was worth the wait. The guy that served us was really friendly and apologized for making us wait a long time. I definitely will recommend this place for people that love indonesian cuisine as it's one of the few places in Birmingham that offers authentic indonesian cuisine. Update -05/06/2021 Went to the cafe again today. Well worth the visit. The customer service was excellent and food was amazing. I will change my review from 4 to 5

Easily the most authentic Indonesian restaurant/cafe in the UK. Delicious food, amazing coffees, and good value for money. Every Saturday they have a special dish, so do ask for this if you happen to visit on a Saturday. Highly recommend the Ayam Penyet and the Iced Malted Mocha!

Satisfying coffee and great Indonesian food. The chicken is tender and crispy but the standout is the dory. It’s so crispy and flavoursome, just a delight. As an Aussie, the coffee was almost good enough to be satisfying.

We ordered Bebek penyet, Salt and Pepper chicken rice and bakwan to dine-in. They tasted absolutely amazing! The Bebek Penyet was so authentic, it reminds me of home 🥹 We bought more food to take away and they were delicious. Highly recommended this place and will definitely return if we are in the area.

Really enjoyed the indonesian food here. Just the space a bit small. I wish you have a bigger table inside. I love the sambal though

Great experience. Authentic menu that wasn’t too convoluted but yet diverse enough. Price points were reasonable compared to UK standards . Coffee menu was amazing I had a weird choice of Pink Banana latte but it tasted really good . Ayam Penyet was battered correctly even by Asian standards and the chilli was again authentically Indonesian. The tempeh however was over fried and does not seem like fried tempeh we are used to back in Asia. Sio Mai were delicious, as good as back home & the pick of the dish. Tried my friend’s traditional Tubruk coffee and it was also done well. Will return to try the other things on the menu . Definitely worth coming

Here is a hidden gem cafe restaurant that serves amazing authentic Indonesian food. The cozy ambiance created a warm atmosphere, making it a perfect spot for a delightful meal. The staff were exceptionally kind and helpful, Their knowledge of the menu and willingness to assist with recommendations added to the overall enjoyment of the visit. The coffee served here was also excellent, complementing the flavors of the Indonesian dishes perfectly. I highly recommend trying the Bebek Penyet and Nasi Padang. The Bebek Penyet was tender and flavorful, while the Nasi Padang offered a diverse selection of delicious dishes that satisfied my craving for authentic Indonesian flavors. In conclusion, this hidden gem cafe restaurant not only offers exceptional Indonesian cuisine but also provides a cozy ambiance and friendly staff that make it a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy an authentic Indonesian dining experience.

This place has the best iced coffee I've had in Birmingham hands down. Being from the states, iced coffee is much more popular there but this place might even have better iced coffee than any place I've been to in the states. However, the hours here are somewhat limited.

Ordered the Fried indomie toastie, Martabak and Bebek Penyet. Martabak was delicious with a sweet sauce while the Bebek Penyet was full of flavour with a fair bit of spice. The Indomie Toastie could have had a bit more flavour but was interesting to eat. The overall atmosphere was cozy and had nice decorations adding to the Indonesian theme. Would recommend this place for a quick bite at a reasonable price

I’ll take others at their word about the authenticity of the food - maybe, it turns out, I’m just not that into Indonesian food. The space is pleasant, the service kind, but the carrot cake was way past its best and left uneaten. Overall, you’d have to really want Indonesian food to make it worth coming here, located as it is at the arse end of the city centre, surrounded by absolute dreck.

As always, the food was well presented and tasted yummy. The staff is so friendly and helpful. One of our favourite places to go to for lunch in Birmingham City Centre ♥️

Great specialty coffee in the corner of hype areas. Walking from Bull ring to eat on some locals restaurant but end in this nice cafe. Offering Indonesian delicacy and amazing specialty coffee from west java, they roasted by them self and in small batch makes we understand that they really took care of quality of the cup. So we try the coffee and the batagor! Is quiet surprising actually enjoying this two in busy street of Birmingham.

Great food in an unexpected location. Brilliant dishes, especially the duck leg, which isn't in the standard menu and is only served on Saturdays. Great selection of drinks too!

Coffee was absolutely fantastic but the service wasn't very good waiting to long for food, more than 45 minutes and is not so busy place to have an excuse. The floor was very slippy especially when is wet outside. Don't go there if you are more than two peoples. Very disappointed after reading in a paper couples days ago saying is one of the best place in Birmingham to have a coffee... hmmm not really 👎😏

We ate here the last time we came to Birmingham for watching All England badminton tournament. The place was quite nice. I really liked the sambal that comes with their ‘ayam penyet’, it was spicy and exactly like what it should be, unlike sambal sold in many places in the UK that are usually tasted way too mild. The gado-gado was also good but the sauce to veggie ratio was not good. I definitely needed more sauce. But the taste was good though.

Walking through Birmingham City centre and came accross this wonderful Gem of a coffee shop, the sign outside said try our Flat white if you don't enjoy it you get your money back.... Never one to back down from an honest challenge I order the flat white , hands down the best flat white I have had to date, ngopi (silent g ) source all there coffee from 🇮🇩 Indonesia. I went with the Flores Bajawa roast it tastes spectacular with notes of caramel nuts and dark chocolate. I was served today by Liam the expert barrista who was happy to explain the types of roast and the brand Ngopi. Thank you i will be back very soon.

Lovely little independent with a varied, unique menu. Both food and drink tasted great, and you can't beat the prices. Staff behind the counter were also very nice and friendly. Definitely a good place to take someone to see a different side of Birmingham!
