Absolutely abysmal service and no excuse for it! This review is written after experiencing services here before, during and after covid lockdowns. I would like to add that we were recommended this surgery originally by somebody who had used it for years and it has gone downhill since then. Bad points: 1. The online appointment system (although it wasn't very good anyway) has been turned off since the start of covid so you cannot book an appointment this way. 2. You cannot, for love nor money, get through on the phones. It was bad before covid but if you went to the surgery at 8am they would look for an appointment for you. They now wont even do that. Even the hospital cannot contact the surgery as their lines are almost always jammed. expect at least 30 mins wait, normally an hour and most of the time you will not even be connected to wait on hold (all lines busy!) 3. This doctor surgery now do NOT book any appointments apart from on the day appointments - these have to be booked by phoning (see previous point). These appointments are not timed (so be available all morning, or all afternoon). 4. The 'clinician' that calls you on the same day may not let it ring for very long before ending the call and wont leave a message, even if they do, see point 2 - you wont be able to call them back. 5. If you do go physically to the surgery, beware that sometimes tey just wont bother opening at all - I was there at opening time for half an hour and the barriers were still down and there was nobody at reception. 6. A certain receptionist at this surgery are incompetent. I say this from experience of dealing with said receptionist, making mistake after mistake - booking the wrong person in for appointments, not checking details, giving false and inaccurate information and completely neglecting to submit lifesaving prescriptions for order. This hasn't happened once but several times, causing hospital intervention to be needed several times. 7. The Health Care Assistant can be a little scary - I got shouted at for booking my kids flu jabs even though I had a legitimate reason for the appointment (that the incompetent receptionist had not included in the details of the appointment). 8. It is impossible for you to get full access to your medical records as is your legal right as they cannot set it up properly. 9. The doctors are a bit hit and miss - I haven't seen any for a while due to covid but previous to this, I have had inappropriate reactions to requests for medical assistance. 10. (This is just nitpicking) The building is old and in bad condition, it looks grubby (although i am sure they have it cleaned as required) and the seats are uncomfortable) 11. You wont get mobile signal in the building with most of the bog suppliers. Good points: 1. The surgery is close to public transport and has its own car park (coded barrier access) Photos are of the closed surgery when they are supposed to be open

Absolutely appalling service here. Dr Handi is incompetent. Cannot answer urgent emails. Never returns calls. What happened to Duty of Care? Non existent. Shall be complaining to the Ombudsman regarding this practice. They should all be struck off.

Numerous times when I have tried to call the reception the queuing system has not worked. On the occasions that I have been able to join the queue, the wait time has lasted nearly an hour at which point I have given up. I went to the surgery to collect forms in order to register as a new patient, the person at reception told me to download them online, I explained that I do not have a printer so they very begrudgingly handed me the forms that were next to them. I returned the next day a bit before 18:00 on my way home from work, the same person was at reception and was reluctant to take the the forms because the surgery closed in 15 minutes. I didn't really understand why this meant they could not simply take the forms I had completed, and had also thought they closed at 18:30 rather than 18:15. Regardless, she did not take the forms and told me to come another time but earlier. In the end I have decided to register elsewhere.

God bless Dr. Salar soul πŸ™ ❀️ πŸ™ this place used to be one of the best in Birmingham, but ever since he passed away, the place has crashed, Service is terrible, Dr's won't see you , and because of the hurry on the calls they just mess up the prescriptions medications and even patients. Sorry Dr. Salar, but they destroyed your legacy, it is very sad, because you were a good man and a hard working Dr. , I just wish they respected you a bit more πŸ˜”πŸ˜”πŸ˜”

This place has been great over the years, as it is virtually impossible to get an appointment at our family doctor surgery due to the influx of... Well how can I say This? None NI paying NHS tourists. They have been exceptionally friendly & helpful. Arrive early to avoid ling waits.

The absolute worst GP in Birmingham. Never has time to see anybody. I have been waiting to see someone for almost 2 years and I have just had my time wasted over and over again. They always tell you to phone in the morning to get an appointment but if you call in the morning the line is forever busy. No concern or care for the issues that we have.

Very disappointed. I registered for my family three weeks ago (I went to the GP centre in person to provide all information - I was told to download a form and fill it in before I go in, which I did. However when I arrived I need to refill the same forms again and some additional forms which they didn't put in on the website. So I sat there for almost 30 mins to refill everything) then I was told it'll take two weeks for us to be put on the system. As my baby will be 6 weeks old and due for the first vaccination, I called today and asked if we need to book an appointment for that. After making 23 calls and finally get through, then waited on the queue for 29 minutes. I was told by the receptionist that we are not on the system, we will need to go in (in person) and refill all the forms again. Then the phone got cut off. I'm not sure what to say and how do I know if this time we will be put on the system? Now I don't know if my baby will get her first vaccination on time as we couldn't register her.

I registered myself at this health center this week. From outside it just like a regular house, but if you come inside you will find a well organized and clean health center. It's out of my expectations as I thought it will be messy since people are giving them bad rating. The receptionist is kind and willing to help me with my registration. They are respectful to their patients. I cannot find any reason to give selly oak health center any bad rating just like the other users did.

Spoken too horrendously by the manager for requesting my medical notes to be sent to me because the previous manger at the GP should of not sent them via email before. How is that my issue? So rude and dodgy. Mmm makes you wonder why they did not want to provide me with medical notes what is being hidden very dodgy GP and have been reported for this. Looking at these ratings I know I'm not the only one who has had this experience with them they should be shut down!

Imagine calling this GP everyday to get a busy tone... You could never get an appointment and when you do make one it gets lost in the air and disappears... It wasn't even for me but for my toddler. An in person appointment turned into a rebook by telephone in the morning... Let's just cry together because they literally do not care about you there.

The worst service ever, they told me to call at 8 when I call at 8 the auto record says, for normal appointment call us at 11, when I called at 11 they said we do have any appointment at the moment call us at 8 on Monday. Why we pay our tax for this unprofessional, careless service. I took a day off because I am unwell and need an appointment.

The worst service ever, I need to write a formal complaint to the MP due to the bad service, they do not see you face to face no need for that, they only check you over the phone, whatever you have, what about caring providing empathy to your patients. I need to stop paying taxes to unprofessional GP practitioners. No need for your services any more we can consult Google later on instead.

Worst practice ever. If I could I would give them no star at all. I couldn't book any appoitment with them since the pandemic started. If I got lucky and they pick up the phone, they never have any appoitment left. Waiting time at least 20-25 minutes. The doctors are horrible. They try to give treatment or any solution to your problem through the phone. And it never works. Stop google the answer and start to work and start to seeing patients, because what you're doing is a joke. I understand it is more comfortable sitting in your office without seeing any patient, making phone calls, having a break whenever you want but that's not your job. Soon you will loose all of your patiens because of your ignorance.

Absolutely amazing surgery, I was seen in by a lovely lady at reception who was so friendly and welcoming and saw the doctor within minutes! He was so helpful and reassuring and answered all my questions that I had. He even walked me out and showed me where the chemist was! I was given advice on more that what I went in for originally, which I found so kind and made me feel at ease as I’ve only just moved to the area! Amazing amazing amazing service

Terrible. Can only order prescriptions between 10-12, absolutely shocking when carers are only with their clients at certain times during the day and can’t necessarily ring between 10-12. This never used to be a rule. It’s ridiculous

The worst gp practice. Impossible to have an appointment with a doctor no matter if is a child, adult or a baby. Skin rush, allergies, cough, fever, hair loss etc, you get a treatment at the phone....how about blood tests, blood pressure, general checks.....useless and speechless. In this way cannot be prevented but needs treatment in the last stages of illness...

I would say they have made improvements since the new GP contract concentrated on patient access. I was able to make a GP appointment online for 3 days in advance (previously it had been 6 weeks). The GP was very helpful and thorough. The repeat prescription process now takes 2 weeks which is a step backwards.

I was referred here by the 111 telephone service on a Sunday morning 14th May, following issues with an accident I had had a few days before. They were really helpful on the phone and said they could see me straight away. On arrival, a doctor spoke to me immediately and a practice nurse treated me with a tetanus injection, dressed my injury, gave me good advice and prescribed antibiotics. They were so kind, helpful and extremely quick. I did not have to wait at all. I was very impressed and grateful for their help.

I am going mad with the NHS GP appointment for my son who has Autism, they tell me to call from 8am and by the time you go through they tell you there is nothing left you have to call from 8am, excuse me! When? And what I am doing since morning? Calling you.... I called Birmingham City Council for his assignment appointment to be able to go to school, I have been filling out two application form two weeks ago and they told me this take time...., Why the assignment for the child should take months and I said but I feel sorry and terable for my son because he can't go to any school until I know and the school knows what is his need and what level is he in his disability.....

Awful service Husband got a GP appointment today (referred by the hospital), was given the slot from 9am - 1pm. Doctor called at 9:18am and he missed it as he was on a call, the doctor called again within the same minute at 9:18! We called the surgery back straight away but as you know the queue for calling selly oak health center is longggggg. Then by the time I got the speak to the receptionist that's 9:29 and she said the doctor has tried to call twice so need to rebook another appointment! Has been waiting for this appointment for 3 weeks and the doctor make the called twice within the same minute (meaning that doctor must have cut off the line within 30 seconds) and now need to wait for another 3 weeks for the next appointment. I was told that the doctor has no time to call back today (Given doctor could make 2 calls within a minute this morning and "completed" the appointment within a minute) very frustrating and furious about it but what can we do.

I've been with the practice for many years and even though the service has changed bcos of COVID, I'm always able to get an appointment, I've always been able to go in when requested by them and haven't ever felt I've had bad service from anyone, receptionists, doctors etc. The whole GP/NHS service has drastically changed and this isn't reflective in how Sey Oak Heath Centre practices in my opinion. They're doing what they can with the current state of the country, and I'm greatful.

Totally useless, phoned from 7:55 until 8:40, the phone was answered and told me there is no appointment. It looks they never want to see you. This is the fourth time I phoned them I’ve the last two years, I never see the doctor in person. Absolutely rubbish.

My son had an operation on his toes in July and I was told that he needs to regularly see the nurse/gp to make sure they're healing. Unfortunately, due to lack of appointments he did not get to see the nurse very often However, 3 weeks ago I made him an appointment for yesterday (21.8.23 at 4pm). I received a call prior to this yesterday stating Stella the nurse is sick and therefore the next availability is now 2 weeks later. I explained that my sons toes are swollen and that he is autistic and I need to get him school shoes ASAP. I also said that unfortunately it isn't as easy as going to Clarks and purchasing, it's a very lengthy process (due to his sensory needs) and I can't get him the shoes until I've had the ok from the nurse. I was then told to go to a&e! I asked to speak to Jane the manager and was told that there's no one else at the surgery and it was implied that this young girl is running the surgery by herself. Eventually the girl decided to use her new found powers and hung up on me. Whilst I'm still clueless what to do. Surely my son should have now been a priority? But reading the reviews and replies on here, seems as if we're all doomed.
