I stopped by Cane and Grain with a colleague while in Manchester. We turned up on a Saturday without a reservation and had to queue outside for 5 minutes for a seat inside (would have been 25 for outside seating). Very impressed that we were able to be seated so quickly. The staff were awesome and helpful, suggesting some drinks and eats. Ordering food is done by scanning a QR code on the table where you can choose your drinks, food and pay. Our food arrived promptly and everything was great, I highly recommend the truffle poutine!!

About 3 years ago I came to have Spare ribs in Cane & Grain, It was so amazing that even I left Manchester for a few years I still thinking about come back have this rib. Came here with my friends in a Tuesday evening, there were only us ordered food at that time. It looks not busy from we looking inside tables or outside. We waited nearly an hour for our food (2 burgers, a small rib and some fries). They didn’t come to say there is a waiting on food, and didn’t let us know why it takes so long. The burgers were amazing, fries as well so good. But the rib is the last dish came to the table and how pathetic it is that even it takes so long to cook it still so dry and hardly can come out from the bone. It is very very disappointing for somebody who have been looking forward to this dish, even wait through the covid pandemic to finish to come back to this city particularly this restaurant to have it. What makes it even worse is none of the staff downstairs care, not even one person came to ask if the food is okay when we supposed to be full-mouths and say” y/e&ah it’s go@**+]od” with a thumb like I used to do. I am not very happy with it at all, and i think they know exactly why the food is like this and that’s why they didn’t came to ask if the food is okay, because they know. Although everything else was still perfect as they should be. But this dry-chewy spare and the service make me do this.

Food was delicious, fried chicken and the gravy was top notch. Very quick and efficient service, would definitely go again. Good vibe and beer selection too.

Delicious food. I had the Dr Pepper wings and beef fries - good job I was hungry! They were playing indie rock and had a good selection of drinks.

Book for cain and grain but get forced to sit upstairs and drink at a different business which is more expensive. Avoid at all costs.

Nice environment, good choice of drinks. Cocktails are a little bit more show than go but isn't that part of the cocktail experience these days? Rather than just a solid good drink people expect a show to go with it (burning flames, tin cups etc) and you certainly get that here

I came when it was sunny so outdoor seating was perfect. I didn’t have a booking either and waiting time wasn’t long maybe 10-15 minutes. It was easy to order and food came in about 15/20 minutes which was great. I ordered the vegan burger and wow, one of the best non meat burgers I’ve probably ever had!

Sat out in the new outdoor seating space and started looking on their online order system for what we wanted only to find out the menu on their website doesn't reflect what is actually available as they've not updated the website for ages. We wanted ribs and their trays they used to do but you can now only get a single (or 3) beef ribs or some wings or burgers. Host was helpful in explaining situation and safety measures but food just didn't live up to expectation. My biggest gripe is the fact that people are allowed to smoke in the outdoor seating section where others are eating which is just gross. Also the host was sparking up a cigarette at the host stand! Not sure if he went and washed his hands afterwards either. Personally I'd go to Smokehouse or Red's if you want decent BBQ food.

Good food at a great price. Gourmet style, contemporary pub food. Great burgers! Good selection of local beers. Nice atmosphere. Really good spot when the weather is good enough to sit out so you can also get your spot on sun. Highly recommend coming here. They won't disappoint. Have since gone back and will keep going back. Great food, drink and staff.

Went in for my dinner 26 September 23 walked in and asked the lad can I have the burger and chips and drink deal £11. No problem. Food came had to ask for salt and vinegar and red sauce. The bun was tasted but still frozen. Chips were nice tho. The lad stood at is little desk and watched me all the time eating my food as soon as finished he said can you pay now as if I was going to do a runner won’t be going in there again!!!!!!!!

Good range of drinks and food. Food was a bit messy for me and I wouldn’t order ribs again. Wasn’t a fan of my smokey cocktail. There were better options I just felt like I didn’t make great choices. Nice atmosphere upstairs. Downstairs was crazy busy by the time we left!

Update your website with correct menu. Bouncer is rude and needs education. He spent large parts of the evening on his phone (12th August) and not doing his job. Food wasn’t great. Poutine OK.

Arguably the best and most iconic bar in Manchester. Music fantastic, drinks range great and excellent location in the heart of the Northern Quarter. This is a bar with a brilliant reputation amongst bartenders and one that my friends and I always visit when we make a trip from over the Pennines. Will be back, probably the next time I'm in Manchester

Popped in for a quick half before the tram. £3 for a half of Camden pale. If only they hadn't advertised a totally different price on their board... Or did I just get a discount? Still a rip off.

Great late night bar with two rooms. Recommend the lounge upstairs and the zombie cocktails they serve.

Its been a few months since I was last here, and it's always been good. But this time it absolutely knocked it out of the park. Best fries I've ever had. Best wings I've ever had. And the burger was pretty damn good too, even if you can get better in Manchester. Also really fast and great service despite being rammed, incredibly impressed.

Awesome, friendly staff. Ridiculous choice of beers on tap (see photos) plus spirits, burgers, flaming cocktails and anything else you could want. Chilled, mixed crowd. Skateboard mural. Neon signs. Secret door. 10/10 would drink there again :)

Lovely cocktails at cane and grain, we stayed for a couple each! Zombie, parrot fashion, coco club and Rye-bina were all great. The Zombie being the pick of the bunch!

This is a very lively bar on a Friday evening with a great atmosphere. Outdoor seating is good for the summer and a slightly more relaxing vibe than being inside. It’s a friendly crowd though, including the staff, and with a brilliant range of drinks and food it’s a good spot to spend a few hours. The decor is unique and interesting making it a memorable spot for a night out.

Would have given a 1 star however the food was nice what we had delivered. We ordered 4 burgers, 3 sides, a large wine, beer and 2 soft drinks. We got presented with 4 burgers, 1 side, a small wine, a bottle of beer and 2 soft drinks. Disappointing as Instagram made me excited to eat there reality was something different.

Always have some amazing food at Cane & Grain and some amazing cocktails! The service is always wonderful and the whole team are stunners and a treasure to the company! Always willing to help offer suggestions and really make you feel comfortable and welcome into the business

Wonderful ambience and great experience on a Friday night. Amazing, fast and efficient service. Tried some good cocktails. Recommendations: Shaun of the Dead : 10/10( if you need something boozy and strong) Coco club : 8/10 ( if you are a person who loves something light then it’s 10/10, a tropical cocktail i would say) Zombie : 10/10 ( My favourite wherever i go)

The beef rib is amazing - 9/10, Dr Pepper glaze is absolutely delicious. If you're big into tender meat, don't mess with the spare - just get 3 x beef, you won't regret it. Service is always great and vibe is on point

Appalling service and staff do not know the basics. Ordered the beef rib and a burger. The waiter came back 10 minutes later to say the rib would be 30 minutes, and they didn't have the burger. Reordered the beef fries, and they said they didn't have them. Know your stuff. Immediately say when people order what food you haven't so people don't waste time ordering twice. Clearly, there is no communication from the kitchen to the staff Sat waiting 35 minutes still no food. No updates, no apologies, no nothing. And never once asked if we wanted another drink. If you provide table service, wait the tables, and serve customers. When the food arrived (burger, padron peppers, and chill fries), the burger bun was burnt and zero chilli on the fries. I feel that if I had not asked for an update on the order, I'd be waiting until Tuesday. Paid, not offered a receipt and they never asked how the food was. Maybe they know the food matches the service. Appalling.

The environment is great, but the food was quite disappointing, especially given the fact it's not a particularly cheap place. First of all, the variety was the worst I've seen in a multi-vendor location. E.g. the "chickens burgers, wings and snacks" vendor didn't have any wings or anything else to share (sharing snacks were very limited in any vendor). To top that they managed to have run out of colas of any kind - never seen that happen before! Anyway, I went for the king prawn pad Thai. It would have been ok I guess but it came with a mix of prawns, some shell off and some with the head and tail off but the legs still there. I'd never seen that before, only some were like that on my plate, on my colleagues they were pretty much all like that so he wasn't a fan.

Great place! We tried the £10 lunch deal and 100% worth the money because food portions are large and a soft drink is included. Gabriel who was looking after us was fantastic and went above and beyond. Food was superb!

Decent food and beer. Good place to stop in for lunch with a wide selection. Burger was a bit dry and small in the bun for the price paid.

Really rude door staff wouldn't explain the covid process, too busy eating dominos pizza. Signage completely unclear as well

Really cute and trendy spot with good southern food choices and cocktails. As a Southerner myself, the food was pretty good, despite not being necessarily “authentic” American Southern cuisine. I ordered several small/starter plates together because I wanted to try several things. Definitely recommend the Mac n cheese and collard greens.

Shaun of the dead was a really nice cocktail. Great procedures in place for CV19 and social distancing but still had a great atmosphere. Liked being able to order on the app but was sad I couldn't get a baby guiness shot lol

Laid back amercan style joint with great food. Very nice hipster style place in northern quarter. There are tons of these places now in that area but this one is definitely recommended.

Looked at the menu online, looked good, so booked a table. The ordering service (different from most restaurants) is strange. Scanned the code to order food and they had literally about 4 things on the menu, absolutely pointless. Walked straight back out. At least make an effort and up date your website or put a note on. Poor.

Place was really full but despite that our drinks and food arrived almost instantly, staff was also very friendly. Plus the food was AMAZING.

OMG!!! The best ribs I ate in a long time.

cool place but limited. No low alcohol beer. The ribs were as dry as a camels back, was like eating desert road kill. The staff were very nice and welcoming.
