I only spent an hour here but the park seems well maintained with plenty of trails to walk

Had a wonderful time walking around beautiful John Bryan state park today with the family! They have a cute story trail to do with the younger kids and a ton of other walking/hiking trails throughout with the little Miami river as well. Plus you can always stop in the awesome and cool downtown yellow springs on your way home!

The best park to hike in yellow springs. They don't have rangers that harass you like Glen Helen and they don't charge a fee to park. It has cliffs, waterfalls, easy trails, challenging trails, bridges, campgrounds, historical sites, everything you could think of

Pretty place, and most of the sites are large and quiet. I would avoid the inside the circle sites, the outside ones have more privacy with woods behind most of them. We've stayed here a couple times this year. The last (last weekend) the restrooms were much worse than they were a couple months ago. Some of the sites are posted in my pic with numbers.

One of Ohios crown jewel State Parks in my personal opinion. Absolutely beautiful! Can't describe this place and do it any sort of justice! You must visit and see for yourself. You will see what I mean!

One of the best state parks in Ohio. There are a bunch of trails. Everything from very easily navigable to a few moderately challenging spots. The views can't be beat and out connects to Clifton Gorge Park. I could spend days wandering through John Bryan and still not see everything it has to offer

We had a great time while visiting John Bryan State Park. The park is located just East of Yellow Springs, Ohio which is a great little town to visit as well. We stayed in the campgrounds and hiked numerous trails. The campgrounds were nice and well kept and offer great accommodations. We enjoyed hiking the Stagecoach Trail, South Gorge Trail, and the Ridge trail which were all beautiful and offered scenic views of the Clifton Gorge, Little Miami River and some awesome Rock Formations. The park also has a storybook trail and playground for the youngsters, picnic shelters and bike trail. A great place to spend a weekend or afternoon exploring nature.

Everything about this park is awesome. The toilets in the campground are about what you'd expect, but everything else is awesome. Great trails and huge campsites! Very clean and beautiful park!

Great camping, mountain biking, star gazing, camp store, nature center, hiking trails connecting Clifton Mill and Glen Helen through the gorge. Great facilities, camping spots with trees - w/ and w/o electric. Visit close by Clifton Mill for an amazing meal....try the pancakes! Yellow Springs is great for a walk, town browsing, or some food and atmosphere at a restaurant, the hotel or brewery. The bike trail passes very close by and Young's Dairy is a must for ice cream and everything else they have to offer!

Very beautiful. Less busy than Glen Helen, especially in the morning. Would be 5 stars, but thereโ€™s lots of bugs and not many animals to see

I had an amazing time here with my family. This is one of my favorite places to go now. It's the closest thing I can get to Asheville NC, ever since I moved. I visit this area whenever I'm missing the mountains. It's a great place for hiking, and having birthday parties/family gatherings. I also sense a lot of our Native American Ancestors' presence here, so it feels extra special to me.

I really enjoyed my time here the other day. It was a fairly moderate loop trail I went on just under a hour. You could also run this trail for sure.

Spend a day out here! Year-round this is a great park. Camp at the campground or come out for a day hike along the river, pack a picnic and go to one of the shelter houses โ€“ they have it all. Mountain bike trails too! In the fall, the colors are lovely. In the summer, the place is teeming with life. Or, come out for a serene walk in the white of winter. Itโ€™s close enough to a few coffee houses and Youngโ€™s...

We visited John Bryan State Park on October 22, just as the fall colors were fading away. If youโ€™re looking for a prime parking spot for your visit, I recommend setting your Google maps destination to โ€œJohn Bryan State Park Lower Shelterโ€. From this parking area, you will have access to the โ€œAAโ€ trailhead, which connects to virtually all trails along the Little Miami River (South Gorge Trail, Pittsburgh-Cincinnati Trail, Ridge Trail, North Rim Trail, and more). The South Gorge Trail is accessible by crossing the South Gorge Bridge and runs along the south-side of the Little Miami. This trail runs along the river and features large boulders along the trail, babbling brooks that feed into the river, small bridges to cross the brooks, and a beautiful rock face along the entire gorge. The Pittsburgh-Cincinnati trail is runs parallel to South Gorge Trail along the north-side of the river and also has large boulders to explore and has a more colorful canopy of trees (better autumn colors). Connecting the two trails are two bridges: South Gorge Bridge (east) and a smaller foot bridge (west). Together, these bridges and trails make a natural loop that is a moderately easy walk. This park is dog friendly (except for the special trail that run through the nature preserve).

Good hiking trails! My children loved the Storybook Trail as well as playing on the playground. Plenty of space to enjoy. Abundant parking spaces.

This is a beautiful state park. It happens to be in between Glen Helen Nature Preserve and Clifton Gorge State Nature Preserve. They are all connected by trails and are all amazing. John Bryan State Park has plenty of parking, clean restrooms and well maintained and clearly marked trails.

Had an amazing hike through the park, thereโ€™s some pretty rough terrain in certain spots. Overall, very satisfied with the entire visit and hike.

Great park for climbing and hiking

  • 5/5 Michael 1 year ago on Google
Great hiking trails with lots of interesting geology and history to see. The trails are clean and well maintained, but some are fairly steep and very rocky, so know your abilities and wear proper shoes/boots. The trails here connect with Clifton Gorge State Nature Preserve, and (if you can find your way on the web of little connector trails) Glen Helen Preserve. Bring plenty of water and a camera!

What a lovely park! We needed to stretch somewhere beautiful and this park fit the bill! The trails are clearly marked, parking is plentiful, the scenery is breathtaking. I had such fun watching the families with small children using the Storybook Trail. Education and exercise. Good job! โค๏ธ

Beautiful but can get crowded on the weekends. About a medium difficulty. Bathrooms only at beginning of trails. Trails run along a river and large rock cliff. Dog friendly

Not a lot of trails in this park, but the hiking is wonderful. We hiked along the top of the rim overlooking the river and the hiked back along the riverside. Very peaceful and beautiful.

This is a favorite overnight Bushcraft campground for me. The flora is so diverse and any forager will stay entertained for weeks and still barely explore the edible variety of plants. The terrain is fun to explore with cliffs, gorges, water falls, bubbling streams, massive trees, and rock formations that make for excellent photos.

Great park. Lots of parking, clear signage. We parked at the Orton parking lot and walked down into the gorge. Being out of state folks, we had been there before, but it is always a sight to see the gorge - Kind of a surprise, but kind of familiar. We saw several Canada geese, which we did not expect. One goose was roosting on the adjacent wall of the cliff. On the way back out, we saw a heron doing a little fishing too.

Our family absolutely loves coming here on family hikes! The kids have so much fun and there are many places with beautiful views! There are plenty of places for walks and picnics before going to the hiking trails, too.

  • 5/5 Deitra R. 9 months ago on Google
Lovely park, quiet corners, well maintained trails, scenic overhangs, and a few breathtaking views. Must visit location for a nice hike, photography, or simply communing with nature! Update: It's even better with everything in bloom. The greens and lush canopies. Wonderful place to explore and get lost for the afternoon.

  • 5/5 Mary Z. 11 months ago on Google
The river was flowing, the birds were singing; it was a beautiful lush green summer day. Wonderful to be outside! Easy free parking. Will be back to explore the trails. If you are short recommend at least one walking stick. And watch those tree roots. Enjoy!

  • 4/5 Arthur C. 11 months ago on Google
Beautiful, scenic place. Trail markers are lacking/confusing. It's easy to lose track of where you are and where you are going. Still, totally worth it...even with extra steps from backtracking.

We biked 65 miles to camp at this park and almost didnโ€™t have a spot to pitch our tent but Mallory who was working at the camp office came through for us!! Our hero! She was working at the camp office and she was more than helpful - she was kind and compassionate too! We are so grateful to her for getting us a place to set up for the night at campsite 13. To our wonderful surprise they had a VERY clean and nice shower house. I think it must have been recently built because of how good of condition it was in! No problem getting hot water for the shower either ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿพ. The camp office is such a convenient place to get things you may need or might have forgotten. We got a crew neck sweatshirt that is very soft, warm, and comfortable, some drinks/snacks/ice cream (because 65miles bikepacking will have you craving just about everything you see), and a bundle of firewood - this was unfortunately pretty damp and we ended up not being able to have a fire but it had stormed that day so we understood. Still a bummer though. Great site for camping! **PSA - there is a place that delivers pizza here! Our delivery driver dropped it off right at our camp site**

This park has got to be the best to visit. It is well maintained not only for the safety of those who walk through it, but the constant maintenance to make sure each visitor is enjoying every offered aspect is amazing. The paths are properly constructed to ensure a safe and relaxing walk as you see nature at its finest. The central welcoming building is constructed to fit into the overall setting and is very informative on the park and what it offers to visitors. This is a family friendly park.

Not sure if this is the exact place I went to but I did a day hike on some back trails. Great for training but too many rocks in the ground for a pleasure hike. Overall it had some really beautiful views. I definitely recommend going

Lovely State Park ๐Ÿž๏ธ, with picnic table, shelter, many trails, great views, bike trails, dog on leash only, camping with some hook ups and fire rings. No fishing, hunting, swimming, horseback or lodge available. Closed at dark. No alcohol. Wildflowers excellent in spring. Connects to Clifton Gorge and Glen Helen Preserve on either end for extended hiking trails, but restrictions my change.

  • 5/5 MARK R. 3 years ago on Google
John Bryan is a great place to hike and feel like you're able to breathe, it has a way of helping you to "ground yourself". There are neighboring trails that connect to Clifton Gorge and Glen Helen as well. A nice area to take your family or a special someone.

A great hike for all levels. Itโ€™s really neat seeing rock climbers out there!

  • 4/5 Talbott H. 3 years ago on Google
Good overall experience. The camping was not very secluded and the raccoons have become accustomed to campers and their food. We had one sneak up and snatch a bag of food from the picnic table while we were sitting there.
