Lucky Bamboo is the best Asian restaurant I have ever eaten at in my life! It's amazing! The food is easily 5 stars. I personally ate the Mongolian beef special (pictured below), and it was great. Along with the complimentary soup provided (pictured below) and side dishes of crab rangoon and egg roll, the food was delicious. This restaurant wasn't very service intensive as when you walk in you order at a counter and then your food gets sent to your table, but the lady at the counter was kind and our food was delivered very quickly. The atmosphere was good, and there were plenty of decorations to spruce up the place. The whole store was clean and I have no complaints. Overall, Lucky Bamboo is an amazing restaurant, and if you're looking for some great Asian cuisine, the best in central Iowa, go here!

Their stir fry dishes like Kong Pao Chicken and Mongolian Beef (attached) have always been consistently good. Food was hot and stir fried well instead of some other places that tasted more like steamed foods. Place was clean and lady at front was polite.

1st time visit to Lucky Bamboo Asian Cuisine in Ankeny this past Saturday, and I'm telling you right now that they earned 5-stars from both of us. You order at the counter, so like many restaurants such as these, I'd suggest looking at the menu online before you get there. SO MANY dishes to choose from, but we opted with one of the "special" dishes, as they all come with soup of day, egg roll, rangoon, and your choice of white or fried rice. I got Cashew Chicken (pic), and my wife got orange Chicken. You seat yourself, and here's a bit of a warning. If it's crowded, which it was on this noon hour, it can be rather noisy due to the low ceilings (not Lucky Bamboo's fault if you ask me.) So, if you go, and if it's crowded, be aware ... the excellent food will make up for it! So, how about the restrooms? If you follow me, you know I checkout the restrooms for my reviews, but in this case I saw that a man had just taken his 2 kids into the men's room, so I thought I'd wait 'til I got home. Next time. You gotta check out the Lucky Bamboo in Ankeny!

I love this little gem in Ankeny! We've had carryout most times, but today dined in and so happy we did. The fried potstickers are delicious and the House Pho was everything I hoped it to be. Fragrant and healthy broth, tender slices of beef, and hearty noodles🍜 I found it a little odd to place the food order in a line, rather have menus tableside...but the food more than made up for that! I also suggest you get some hot tea with the meal....just feels right! I definitely recommend this place!

We ate here a few weeks ago after reading other reviews on how great this place is. I have to strongly disagree. The reason I gave it 2 stars was because my husband did like their Mongolian beef. Aside from that their fried rice had no flavor, crab Rangoons had almost no filling and the absolute WORST PART of all was the cashew chicken, it had an indescribable flavor, the closest I can come up with is it smelled like a DIRTY NURSING HOME. After spending $14/15 for it, I tossed the whole thing in the trash it was completely inedible. I would never eat here again.

I have enjoyed this place for several years but have been disappointed my last 3 trips. The soup is NOT hot. I have given feedback on this twice! This time they had no hot tea. We arrived at 8pm and by 8:15pm they were putting chairs upside down on tables. I asked if they were closing early.....I was told no....not til 9pm. It made us uncomfortable and felt rushed to eat our food and leave. I won't be back anytime soon.

I have no idea why it took us so long to try this place. Service is fast and friendly. The chili oil is super spicy but delicious! My kids love it! I love it!

Came because I was told the pho is the best. The love I have for pho is very large, and it's not the best. It was not even warm! The rest of the food the family got there was good.

A Very Pleasant Surprise! My son and I stopped in for the first visit ever, such a nice surprise!!! Good food, quantity, and prices! We did dine in, then ordered some soup to go. Our take out soup order was still hot, when we got home an hour later! The staff was friendly and efficient. We will be back, and I highly recommend it!!! 🥣🥡🥠

When you go in, you order at the counter and then take your seat. Someone brings you your food when it's ready. I was surprised our party of 4 found a table because it was very busy. A lot of people were getting take-out. The price was very reasonable. My wife and I had the Cashew Chicken Special and the Bell Pepper Beef Special. Each Special dish also includes soup, a crab Rangoon, an egg roll, and a soft drink. The bill for the 2 of us was $23 something not including tip. Everyone in our group thought the food was good. I thought mine was a little bland. I'll probably try it again and order something spicier.

The food was good. But the plates that came with the food were all chipped.

The pot stickers were frozen like we get from the grocery store freezer section; that really disappointed me. My party ordered two beef and one chicken dish; those were good. The crab Rangoon was OK, but too chewy. The egg roll was tasty. Service was fast.

Hy-Vee Chinese is much better. Staff was unfriendly, bringing out the food was a hassle, and front end staff had zero personality. Didn't take leftovers, was bad the first time around. Wow one of my lowest reviews.

Thought I'd try a new place. Not the right choice... Hour and 45 minutes and still waiting for the food. *Update - added two stars. After getting the food home, family was very pleased. Everything tasted great and was hot. The Pho was definitely one of the better I've had in the Des Moines metro. Redeemed. Will try again, just not such a busy day

Awesome pho. The only downside is that there are only two sizes (med and large) and no kid sizes. We just asked for an extra bowl for our 4 year old and my husband shared some of his. The broth is very delicious! There is a reason why they won at the 2022 pho festival

I ordered this meal to go for two appetizers. My potstickers were so burned. ** update ** I just spoke with the owner of the company and I can’t believe the level of personal leverage that he provided to ensure that I was not an upset customer to ensure that the business continues. My daughter loves eating at this place and the conversation and a personal phone call. Everything else included proves that this is a definitely family owned restaurant and mistakes happen and that’s OK, let’s just make sure we make a right going forward. He did an excellent job, and I love speaking with him :-) my family also owns a restaurant and things happen, so it’s best to ensure that there is forgiveness and acceptance, and this personal outreach really made me love this restaurant more than any other place in Ankney.

This restaurant I've heard is a local legend, however It didn't live up to the hype promised. The menu combinations are confusing the staff are doing the bare minimum of service and the food is just the same as any other low price asian restaurant. Also the venue this place is in is very peculiar. It's a strip mall with no other interesting businesses and construction equipment all around it

I used to love this place but it’s gone down hill. Mongolian beef with a drink was almost $17. Inflation is 9%, not 90%. And the food was mediocre. Never again.

Shrimp was hard. Chicken was dry. Sauces lacked taste. Appetizers had been sitting around for a while. Disappointing experience. They offered to remake our meals but we had take out and didn’t feel like driving another 15 minutes for inedible food. Tossed it in the garbage.

We ordered the two special meals. Everything was hot and fresh. They both included a scoop of rice, soup of day, egg roll and a crab ragoon. I added an extra scoop of rice for $1. One meal was a triple meat w shrimp, beef, chicken and veggies in a brown sauce. The other was Mongolian beef.. I did not care the soup, egg roll or fried rice(steamed rice w egg). On a positive note, the Mongolian beef was delicious. A large order is all I would need.
