Algonquin Mexican Restaurant

Restaurant Mexican restaurant

😠 Was so excited to have authentic Mexican food. Huge disappointment. Very bland no cilantro on anything which is un heard of. Microwaved beef stew is not skirt steak. Horrible just horrible. I'd give no star but then wouldn't be able to write all this. People often mention good, Mexican, delicious, burrito, great, service, tacos, Great,

The food was delicious. I had the burrito al pastor and my wife has the veggie Huarache. The guac was really good but we needed to add salt. The rice and beans are vegetarian. The burrito was large and very full, delicious and slightly toasted on the tortilla. The Huarache was great - my wife is vegan and really enjoyed it. The service was very friendly and very fast. There was only one other couple in the restaurant when we went. We will definitely go back.

My family decided to try this place out tonight hoping for authentic Mexican food. We were sadly disappointed. This has to be possibly one of the worst Mexican restaurants I’ve been to. The food was flavorless! Nothing, no spices, bland. I had a steak burrito dinner and they gave you the tiniest serving of beans and they were luke warm at best. My husband had corn tortilla tacos and they were super soggy. We dined in and weren’t offered chips and salsa like the other guests were offered either. It was so bad. The waiter wore a mask too which was strange in itself. But the food is awful, Taco Bell has better flavor than what we were served. Go somewhere else and save yourself the money. I wish I could get my money back.

One of my favorite places to eat. Food is awesome and horchata is one of the best I’ve had. Highly recommend Algonquin Mexican Restaurant. Eat here at least 3-4 times a month.

It's my wife and I's first visit. I've heard good things about this place but never really had time to stop by and give it a try. Today, my wife and I decided to stop by for a little snack in between lunch and dinner. We tried the large steak quesadilla and a couple of Al Pastor tacos. We're also served chips and salsa. The chips were good. The salsa was a little liquidy compared to other salsas from other restaurants. Plus, it needed a little spice. My wife liked the Al Pastor tacos. I liked the Steak Quesadilla. The red and the green sauce tasted delicious. It goes very well with the food. The place is small, simple, and it's clean. It's a plus. Place is a bit in an awkward location but the food's worth giving a try if you want real Mexican food. Give them a try if you want to order some takeout food or just stop by to eat in. If you haven't tried them, do give them a try. It's better to help out this neighborhood spot vs a chain restaurant. We'll take our kids there next time and tell our friends about the place.

Amazing food. Very nice clean simple ambience. This is a very nice family owned business, good people. The food is cooked right there where you can see it and it's clean and fresh. Our kids love the rice and beans too. They have a veggie menu that's great. I definitely recommend this place. Great to support local family owned businesses working hard.

Great place. Very friendly staff and very good food. One of the best Mexican restaurants you'll find in the surrounding areas. Their alambre tacos are delicious. Guac is always on point. Highly recommend 🙌👏 I made an order for a vegan burrito. They also have vegetarian options.

My Wife and I were in the downtown area of Algonquin, IL. Found this spot. We dined in. Ordered Guacamole, very good. She had the Steak Dinner with no rice Double Beans an I had a Burrito extra meat only easy cream and easy cheese. Her steak was terrible had skin all over it and though. My Burrito didn't even have extra meat smallest Burrito I've ever had. Was not worth the price or experience. This place is a pass, won't be going back there again.

Placed an order for a chicken quesadilla, and four different burritos. Unfortunately one of the burritos wasn’t correct, but everything else was. The food itself was pretty fresh, but it was very basic. They all kinda tasted the same quite frankly, most likely won’t be returning.

Good, authentic Mexican food. Not everyone's first choice in the area, but my family loves it. On top of that, the proprietor projects such a positive attitude to everyone who walks in the door, I always leave feeling great.

I last went to them in January and forgot to review! The food there is wonderful, the sauces are rich (and spicy!), and the salsa is a great pair with any entree. I definitely plan on going back!

I’ve come for a few years now. In the last year the food has become to skimpy. The steak burrito I usually order has become less meat and more fluff fillers. When I asked for an extra burrito sauce, the boy comments “seems excessive “ which I’d gladly pay for, extra. The food here is minimal Mexican. Growing up in Pilsen, Chicago, I know real Mexican and this place is a waste of money for what you receive. There are much better locally, El Fuego on Randall for starts. Save your money and eat better and fresher somewhere else, Mexican dining.
