Sophomore coffee just opened today and let me tell you how excited I am to have affordable but delicious local coffee in the neighborhood! It helps that the owners and workers are fantastic as well. If you're having trouble finding the entrance it's just down the steps out front!

The coffee is delicious, love the atmosphere, and the service has been great. Got to meet the owner this morning randomly and they were so nice! The barista was also nice enough to explain their flash brewed coffee to me. Have been getting the house vanilla flavor in my lattes and would recommend!

I’ve always gotten coffee carry out from here when my coworker picks up for us, so I’ve never actually been and wasn’t aware they ask you to wear a mask. My husband, daughter and I decided to walk here on a nice day. I enter and she tells me there are mask right behind me. Since some places it’s just suggested these days so I said “oh no thank you” for reasons other than my own to know why I chose to decline. Instead of her simply telling me sorry we can’t serve you, she disgustingly back hand shoo’d me to the door, as if I was going to make a big deal about it (which I’m sure you do have people that do) It was incredibly rude/demeaning and I don’t even wanna support this place carry out anymore when my coworker picks up for us. If your looking for friendlier staff and still just as great coffee, just go to good neighbor. This was a really sad experience.

So excited for the opening of our neighbor Sophomore Coffee. My husband is a huge coffee nerd and is obsessed with the perfectly brewed beans, I’m loving the unsweetened chai and gingery lemongrass herbal infusion. It will be a daily ritual!

One of my favorite designed coffee shops, the owner Chris is great and so is their staff, their drip coffee will change your mind about drip coffee and they roast their own beans. They have tasty pastries that can be paired with any coffee. This is one of my favorite coffee shops in Baltimore and will go out of my way to swing in. Easy parking right outside or nearby, and they have seating right outside.

My almost daily stop. The coffee is choice and the baristas are the sweetest. If your looking for a real coffee shop this place is my favorite. If you lucky they may have some bake goods that are fresh but do run out due to demand, so get one if you see it.

Excellent coffee! We had a matcha latte and a tropical espresso tonic drink. The shop smelled delicious as soon as we walked in. It’s a small shop but the vibe was awesome. Will definitely be back.

Very cute little basement shop. Delicious cardamom latte. Has brewing equipment which is great for when you run out of filters.

Best, most consistent coffee in Baltimore. Everything is done by weight. Pick up a bag of their shop blend for espresso at home, and they'll give you a free drink. Cardamom latte is great.

What a friendly and beautiful shop! Ryan and Augustine were delightful and knowledgeable. The espresso was beautifully pulled and I had my choice of water on the side with a tasty lil cookie. Every hallmark of quality was present and the shop is literally gorgeous. My focaccia was out of this world, as well. I couldn’t have been more pleased and very much look forward to my next visit. Good coffee is the minimum for a shop, but they exceed all expectations by employing stellar baristas who serve with intention. Thank y’all so much for being welcoming and effusive. And for keeping that monstera so so happy!

Mask requirement? After latest data showing they are ineffective.. if you want to wear one fine, don't force this on paying customers.

Very nice ambiance, definitely a hidden gem. Try the delicious (albeit oily!) rosemary focaccia bread.

Great little coffee shop. The coffee is smooth and strong. The service is great and unlike many coffee shops in this area, they work pretty fast. Get you in and out. Even in the morning. The owner is usually behind the counter with lots of pleasantries. Never had an issue with parking and even has a few tables outside for seating.

Dropped in for a coffee and circled back for this lapsang souchang tea latte that was fantastic! Lovely place, great vibes, still masks, and the coffee was fantastic. Will be stopping in when I’m next in Baltimore again!

Incredible energy walking into this basement coffee spot, the baristas are super friendly and informative and they also have a good selection of merchandise! (I sprung for a new ceramic pour over cone, they have some unique colors). The courtyard in the back was great, they still don’t do indoor seating. The coffee is nutty and well made, the vanilla syrup is homemade (vanilla beans included) If you’re looking for a cozy cup, this spot will certainly warm you up. (Visited in winter, the iced drinks looked fab but that wasn’t my vibe today.)

One of my absolute favorite coffee shops in Baltimore. Everything in their menu is made to perfection. They even roast their own beans and they make their own syrups!!!!

Great spot to spend a rainy afternoon. Love how they support sustainability - if you bring your own cup, they’ll give you a discount!

The best coffee in Baltimore, or anywhere else. Run like a Swiss watch, and everyone behind the counter is super friendly. In addition to knowing their coffee, also a very neighborhood-conscious business.

Really friendly crew and owners! Always have top notch flavors for their lattes, which are always really well made. Great teas too! Stop by sometime!

If you love real coffee Sophmore is for you. They generally have a small selection from this outstanding bakery whose name I forgot. If you're a coffee lover it's worth the trip.

Had the best iced mocha of my life here and haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since :) they told me they work with a local chocolatier for all for their chocolate sauce and it SHOWS. Such a cool spot with really nice baristas as well. Will be back ASAP!

Brief but one of the most pleasant interactions I’ve had in a while. Incredibly friendly team behind the counter this morning!

First visit here while on a bike ride (the shop is right off the Maryland Ave. cycling track). The iced coffee is exceptional and doesn’t need anything more than maybe a splash of creamer, if that’s your thing. Shoutout to the owner for offering an exceptional experience in Old Goucher. Definitely will be back.

Delicious coffee! Great atmosphere! I bought one of the reusable cups, best one I’ve ever gotten. Wish I lived closer, I’d be there all the time.
