Updated Review: Straw Hat Restaurant, a longstanding establishment I have frequented for years. They offers consistently great food. The seafood pasta (I ask for extra cream) is always a a delightful experience. The breakfast menu, while not extensive, provides a decent selection to enjoy alongside the breathtaking beach view. One of the standout features of Straw Hat is its all-day opening hours, making it a highly convenient choice for any mealtime. However, it's worth noting that the service, while generally satisfactory, could benefit from improvement. Most interactions with the staff have been pleasant of the years. Old Review: Date night @ Straw Hat was definitely a great experience. With the exception of one, the members of staff who passed by or came to our table were very welcoming and made sure that everything was going good throughout the night. I'm always skeptical about having dinner as a local because there is often an obvious gap in the service and most don't even try to hide it. For the most part this wasn't the case and I'm quite pleased about that. The food was delicious and the portions - well I love to eat and I'm definitely not complaining... I had to "Kool Mi Down🍹" and it hit the spot! I'd recommend Straw Hat to anyone looking for great food and great service. Where to next? 👀

We stayed at Frangipani for 7 nights and had breakfast at The Straw Hat every morning. We also had several lunches and dinners at the restaurant (2 dinners delivered to our room). I think we tried most things on the menu and really everything was delicious. Standouts were: - Curried Goat - Ceviche (became a go-to meal for me) - Seafood Tacos - Breakfast (2 eggs meal) - Cosmos (perfectly made) After our first meal, the staff always recognized us and welcomed us. We interacted with the owners as well who were very kind. Today (Sunday) was our final breakfast at Straw Hat and the restaurant was PACKED!!! The staff handled it with laughs, smiles and grace and took care of everyone as quickly as possible. The view is also pretty spectacular but it’s nice to take it in in a covered setting (especially when those unexpected rain storms show up). Thanks to the entire staff at Straw Hat for taking care of us on our honeymoon and always welcoming us like longtime friends!

I had few delicious breakfasts and dinners at Straw Hat. A good start and end of the day, enjoying the view and each single bite. Smoothies are also tasty. For dinner, I had pork chop, grilled snapper, and blackened chicken, all yummy, especially the chicken. Pork was very tender and tasty.

Great time here ! We came after sunset so not much of an ocean view, but the restaurant is located right next to the sand. Was dimly lit and good vibes. Staff was courteous and quick, food was the main highlight. We tried the grilled fish and curried goat. Highly recommended and will visit again

Great food, service, and atmosphere. I had lobster cakes, mixed green salad with gorgonzola cheese, and blackened chicken. Wife had blackened Maui Maui fish. Delicious!

We went to Straw Hat for dinner and drinks on our first night in Anguilla. It was walking distance from our hotel on the beach. The food was excellent, the staff were nice, and the view from every table was wonderful looking out at Meads Bay. I had the grilled Mahi Mahi, and it was delicious!

We had a great meal here with awesome service. All of the employees were so friendly and our food was delicious. Drinks and dessert were also great. Must go when in Anguilla.

Stopped in for breakfast. We are staying on Sandy Ground this trip, but it is worth the drive. UPDATE: staying on Sandy Ground aging this trip and have been to Straw Hat twice. So yes... it is still worth the drive.

Great location with excellent views! We loved the beach service and had lunch and cocktails a few days in a row. All menu items we tried were very good. As with most beach front restaurants on the island, the bill can be pricey, but this place delivers on the value overall.

Great food! Dining on the beach! The goat curry is divine! My friend had the lobster and I was sad I didn't. She gave me a taste and it was succulent. Definitely a do when in Anguilla.

Wonderful service and even better food. Highly recommend. I got the cauliflower curry, and my husband the grilled Mahi with curry sauce.

We dined at Straw Hat last night and all I can say is WOW. It is a must if you are coming to Anguilla. The food was amazing and you can’t beat the view. The staff were so attentive to our every need. A special shout out to Stephanie who went out of her way to make sure we were well looked after. Great dining experience

We had a great experience at this restaurant. The food was excellent. My husband and I had fish, very fresh! The owners would walk around and visit with the customers, something you do not see very often anymore! Also, kudos to the merchandiser, they actually had hats and t-shirts!!

Well determined to do something for myself and after arriving at Dames to realize that while they say they are open at 11 am on the Google guide, they don't. I had Straw Hat on my list. So off I went. Excellent at all levels several servers by would pass me by and ask if I was being served. The tuna flat bread is all you need. And the spicy Margarita was awesome.

I have to start by pointing out how poor the service was. The staff was only concerned about one set of guest we sat nearby. They had multiple people catering to them at every turn. While we had to ask multiple times for multiple things. The food was fine, but this service left us with a terrible taste of our lunch stop. We had the wrap which was good, the turkey club was just ok, the ceviche had a different taste that none of us were found of. We certainly won’t be making a return stop to the Straw Hat anytime soon.

Beautiful. Love that the back is open to the beach and it’s a perk that they give you a chair and umbrella if you eat there. The food was good, the atmosphere was great and the servers were nice. What more could you ask for? We were there in the off season so there weren’t many other patrons, but I could see it being slammed in the tourist season.

We came back after 10 years and it was just as good as we remembered it. Awesome and delicious! An amazing seating on the beach and a 10 minute walk from the four seasons along the beach. Great kids menu too! The tuna, crayfish and the salad were exceptional! And big portions so come hungry. And don’t forget to order the tuna tart and the ice cream sandwich!

Super friendly service and their omlets / fritattas are top notch fresh ingredients . Loved the french toast too and the view of ocean is trophy . Thank you Straw hat for some great meals :)

Mixed Experiences. First visit was for lunch. We spent time on the beach and then came up for some drinks and lunch. Service was beyond friendly - super engaging and helpful server. We had the plantain chips (highly recommend), conch fritters (highly recommend) and Big Eye Tuna Flatbread (recommend). Others had the hot dog, burger and Cesar salad. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the service. Went back with a different group, this time for dinner. Service was lackluster - got the impression they didn't really want to serve us and I have a feeling this wasn't a normal attitude. Looked like they had a very very large table of a family that had way too much to drink and we received the brunt of it. Too bad because service was so exceptional on the prior visit. For dinner I had the curry goat this time with coconut rice and I really enjoyed it - definite thumbs up from me! Others in the party had the deconstructed eggplant (was OK) and the snapper (just OK as well). I'd go back again for lunch and drinks anytime and hope that no obnoxious, drunk families are there as well.

We visited Straw Hat on our first trip to Anguilla. The first visit was planned as a beach day at Meads Bay. We chose Straw Hat for our beach day because we also planned to eat lunch there. First off...we got beach chairs and an umbrella. A young man got us settled and brought my wife a cold tropical drink. We lounged for a while then took a dip in some of the most beautiful water we've ever seen. Meads Bay is one of the best beaches in the world. We then walked across the beach to the restaurant. I'm not a bona-fide foodie so I had a delicious chicken club sandwich. The portion was huge and I had to take some back to the villa as well as my wife's delicious grilled chicken wrap. After lunch, we went back to our chairs on the beach for a short while. We were so impressed with the restaurant that we went back the night before we were to fly back home. I had an amazing New York strip steak and my wife had the creole chicken. The rolls were amazing and my chocolate lava cake dessert was delicious as well. We enjoyed the total food and beach experience.

Straw Hat is a mandatory stop on every trip to Anguilla. The spacious patio seating is an excellent place to take in the stunning views of Meads Bay. Service is excellent with the local charm of Anguilla and five star resort elegance. The lobster dinner is a must with generous portions and delicious sides. Also try the delicious red snapper or steak for meat lovers.

Straw Hat was excellent. The tuna flatbread, the banana chips are unreal. We also both had the seafood pasta which was delicious. Lots of food, we actually took some back to our resort afterwards.

This restaurant is as so lovely and unpretentious. The people were so kind as though they were family. The food was delicious and we both devoured our meals. The Asian salad is to die for and could’ve been an entire meal of I added protein.

Mari was our server & he was fantastic!!! So easy to talk to and have us lots of great recommendations for the area. The beach is beautiful, and we haven’t stopped talking about how phenomenal the food was (specifically the seafood tacos). Mari really made our visit special ❤️

Place was very cool. Absolutely could not get service. Maybe it's because we weren't staying there but we were ignored for huge chunks of time.

We had a lovely time at Strawhat. The Anguilla Crayfish was recommended and it was really good. I came back the next day for lunch after a bad experience at Ocean Echo and had the fish tacos which were amazing. I was able to sit down, order, receive my food, and eat in 30 minutes. The pina coladas are service in the beach under an umbrella as you swim. They have red service flags that you raise from your chair when you need to order or pay. Amazing and relaxing experience.

Very friendly place to stay the day, have a a cocktail on the free chairs and enjoy their good cuisine. Very nice waiters. 👌 Just on the most beautiful beach of the carribeans...

Amazing restaurant! We walked down from Four Seasons on the beach. Easy to get to, front-row table and the Mahi Mahi was unbelievably fresh and delicious! Highly recommend everyone go!

Food was not bad, but it's not the best feeling when you realized that at home you would cook much better... coffee was like dirty water (like free coffee in a cheap hotel). The service was very good.

This place was dreamy and my seafood pasta hit the spot!! So so good it was just delicious. Open air to the beach so our kids could run around in the sand after a long flight and transfer. Very welcoming atmosphere, fast cheery service and broad menu. Not a ton of kids there for dinner but we felt very at ease dining there with our young kids, their kids menu is great.

The beach is lovely, it is perfect to watch while eating. The food was delicious. My dad and I had was the turkey club and was great! The service was wonderful and it did not take long for the food to get to our table. It is kid friendly and I do recommend it.

First of all, the view - perfection. Gorgeous turquoise and deep blues tantalize the senses as you sink into pure relaxation, listening to reggae-infused tunes. The friendly, attentive staff only added to the welcoming atmosphere. Banana Dacquiri - I've had better. Seafood spring rolls - unfortunately, they were bland. The only flavor came from the accompanying sauce. Turkey Club - Delicious. Filling and flavorful. What better way to finish lunch, then walking down to the beach and lounging on a cot, staring out into the blue....

The food was so good here. I’m sure everything on the menu was just as good as the tuna. And don’t get me started on the desserts. They were so sweet and delicious. Do yourself a favor and come here

If you want a delicious relaxing dinner, a special night, don't bother going here. Beautiful setting, nice table service... at first. Lots of attention for 15 minutes. Food slow to come, and yet not all at same time ... thinking no big deal. Waiting politely to eat together for two courses. Some food good, some mediocre. Literally one hour in , finally eating mains that were all on the table together, they started hustling us for take home boxes. My 6'5 son was literally halfway through his steak. Seriously? They kept pestering us, saying they needed the table ....now about 1 hour and 10 minutes in. Worse and worse from there. Seriously they need to think about what 'fine dining' means. It's not this.

I truly wished I’d taken a picture of our food. This definitely was a 5 star visit. From the time of arrival thru conclusion of our meal was perfect. We had snapper and it was a very nice portion and prepared excellently. Don’t miss the opportunity to dine here.

Straw Hat was where I had my first Anguilla rum punch with my husband 4 years ago, so it was only fitting that we celebrated our wedding here as well. I cannot recommend anything more vehemently than a Straw Hat wedding. From the beginning phases of planning, it was clear that they would be able to run our event like a well-oiled machine. No detail was left unplanned by Sammi, all while making it feel relaxed and low lift for us. When the weather decided not to cooperate, they quickly implemented a rain plan that allowed our ceremony to go on as originally planned. Throughout the evening, the whole staff was hands-on in making sure guests were fed and having a wonderful time. When a rented chair broke, a new one was placed before the guest even had a chance to get up. The bar line was never long, and the food came out hot and perfectly cooked. I am truly impressed by the team and we owe Sammi, Peter, and all of the staff an especially huge thank you for all of their hands-on support.

We shared 3 small plates (Ahi tuna, spring roles and big eye tuna capacious on flatbread. They were all incredibly tasteful!! Very friendly and pleasant staff. We would love to go back when we're on Anguilla again. ❤️

We loved the straw hat unfortunately we had a little accident but the manager Peter was outstanding in helping us especially as we didn't know what to do I can't recommend him and the restaurant enough beautiful establishment wonderful staff and the most wonderful owner manager Peter. Thank you for you help in our time of need and lastly the food was amazing views the best will 100 % come back

I was on the island for 10 days, and this was the best meal I had by a mile. I was here for work and got stuck eating at one of the resorts, which was supposedly 5 stars, but this meal blew all 3 resort restaurants out of the water. The pork chop was cooked perfectly, and the braised greens and onions rings added nice saltiness. The aisan salad dressing was well balanced and very refreshing. We also had a slew of appetizers, and each one seemed to be better than the last. All this was topped off with a spectacular view and attentive service. If you come to Anguilla, I highly recommend you stop by here and if I ever find myself back here I will certainly be coming back.

Had a great beach front breakfast at Straw Hat this morning and the staff could not have been nicer or more attentive. We were staying at a 5 star resort down the beach and the staff at Straw Hat were far and away better trained, friendlier, and more attentive. Would come back in heartbeat for the staff alone; easily the nicest people we met on the island.

I had breakfast here and I loved it. The beach is flawless so the view from the restaurant is breathtaking, nice relaxed ambiance with a fitting background music, and staff is very nice. I hope I can come back one day!

Amazing ambiance, they really know how to mix a great cocktail, and the pumpkin soup and seafood pasta were very fresh and filling! Not the cheapest place, but quality of the food and the ambiance more than make up for it. Definitely give this place a visit (if they're not closed for the season lol)
