I was traveling on my own through New Haven and wanted to enjoy a nice meal on my last night. I’ll say at first I wasn’t really feeling it because I was seated at the bar (I had choose the spot myself in my reservation on OpenTable, when I arrived asked if I could be seated elsewhere, but they were booked so no worries…but there were empty tables that remained empty the entire time I was there (1.5 hours). I understand having empty tables because of COVID and being shortstaffed but they were not allowing walk ins so I wasn’t really adding to the overall count of people). I saw that the menu offered a glass and a half of wine which I was thrilled about - it was just me so I wasn’t into ordering a bottle but they do have incredible selection. It’s not the amount of wine it’s the type of wine they offer which I appreciate. Clearly shortstaffed, the manager was behind the bar, they were so friendly and personable. It’s a tough time for restaurants and they are doing incredible! I ordered the risotto for dinner and it was creamy and filling (but not overdone). It was a bit salty for my preference (and I usually like salt!). I probably wouldn’t order it again there because of the salt and the price. Also, it comes with brussles sprouts but I would have loved more next time, just felt like it was some flakes and I expected full sprouts. This would be nice for a pre or post dinner drink with a date or a friend. Staff 5/5 Food 3/5

I specifically asked for "uncut toast" and "bacon not well". The bacon was so tough I could not even chew it. You can tell it was pre-cooked yesterday. Now I understand why there is only 3 people in the restaurant. Just because you have the means to open a restaurant doesn't mean you should.

The food taste is average, the burger is much better than other food here! The price is a bit over average.

Good location, decent ambience - however unimpressed with the menu and service. Had the Lamb Ragu and the dish was majority pasta noodles which obviously isn't worth the cost. The lamb was poorly pulled - thus hard to navigate and not particularly soft. Flavor was dull, served luke warm 😔 and overall not the best dish I've had. The bartender working the bar, however was 👍! All our drinks were on point; perfect mix proportions.

Giving two stars because the service was really nice and attentive. The food was awful and the price made the taste even worse. Salt doesn't appear to be present in the kitchen. Tomato soup was in dire need of a good immersion blender. The pickles were still cucumbers. The grilled cheese appeared to be made by someone who hates grilled cheese. Cocktail filled to half a glass. I had been looking forward to trying this place for a while and was really disappointed. Can't stress enough how disappointing the pricing is considering the food quality.

Disappointing Our reservations were at 7:15. We got our appetizer at 8:15. One hour later! It was so salty, that we asked for bread. Multiple times. It never came. Main course was bland. All in all a very disappointing dining experience.

We were given dirty utensils. Sat for more than fifteen minutes without any service before getting up and walking across the street to Atelier Florian. I can’t say anything about the food or drinks because we never had the opportunity to sample any of them. Atelier Florian was nice, though.

This place is slick and modern. Comfortable sitting. Noise level a bit high. Menu was fantastic and affordable. The burger was cooked to perfection. Pot de creme, a delish! The waitress was not very knowledgeable and difficult to understand. The wait for food was extremely long which we didn't mind that day but be aware.

Second time here and hasn’t disappointed yet! We got the ricotta and bread as a starter along with tomato soup. I got the avacado toast with an egg and everything but the bagel seasoning. The mimosas were great, but pricey-spent 14 on just one. I would definitely recommend to anyone for a hearty brunch in downtown Nee Haven. People are very friendly!

First time trying this spot out. It is inside a hotel. No ramp from what I saw to enter. Had to carry stroller up the stairs and no handicap button to push open doors. Restaurant is very clean and upscale. The service took too long and the staff look miserable. Ordered the French toast and it was DROWNING in butterscotch. Had I known, I would of said just drizzle it because it was too sweet. Scrapped it off just to eat. The potatoes were very good! Also ordered a bacon egg and cheese with fries. The egg on the bacon egg and cheese was over easy and the bun was soaked in yolk. On the menu it states "fried egg." I would not return nor feel it was worth the price.

Great service, great atmosphere… Had oysters on the half shell and fries with a vinegar aioli… fantastic appetizers. For the main course I had the lamb ragu. While the pasta was cooked properly and there was a good balance in flavor, the lamb was extremely tough. Bit in to a dime size shard of broken bone, I don’t hold this against the restaurant… that can happen. Good but not memorable. Great place for cocktails, snacks & starters… but the main dishes need to be improved.

The overall environment is nice and the concept of farm to table of course is lovely, especially in the city of New Haven and the diversity it brings! The food was OK. Not a picky person by any means but overall my party and I thought it was OK. The appetizer was fingerling style potatos and all of them when cut in half were very hard (middle was normal but if you were to peel the skin off, that part right underneath was very brown and hard at least 3 mm all around). Seemed like it was maybe reheated one too many times? The tuna sandwich taste wise was fine but the bread was overly toasted so once again very hard to bite into. The fries that came with the tuna, almost half were over cooked because the ends were very brown and soggy. As for the noodle dish the sauce was very very salty, over saturated. These seem like simple fixes that can easily be done to bring better quality, presentation and taste of the foods especially for the amount we spent.

Good food, although nothing special - but lots of fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The service was slow and impersonal, despite a half full restaraunt. If you'd like to get out under 2 hours, be sure to ask for your check when you order.

I came here with my mother before a theater show at the Rep and was really pleasantly surprised. The entrees are very reasonably priced (most under 30) and a really excellent wine list if you’re in the mood for a bottle. The bone marrow we ordered was a little cold but otherwise delicious. The entrees were just fantastic though - not too salty, very tender, excellently cooked.

The staff at The Study at Yale and in - house restaurant Heirloom were extraordinary during our recent stay to celebrate my Mom's 91st birthday and reunion with her grandson. We were treated like family and given everything we needed with a smile. Breakfast and dinner at Heirloom were both delicious and met our expectations in every way. Served hot, tasty, cooked as liked especially the New York steak, roasted chicken and Caesar salad. Breakfast was a10 each day. If we need to go back to New Haven it's where we will stay!

Went for brunch on a Saturday with reservations. Arrived well on time and was seated promptly. Everything looked great, and we ordered after getting some coffee. And we waited, and waited, and waited. We had plenty to talk about, but even with that, we had 3 more offers of coffee, but I couldn't have much more than 2 cups. When the food arrived it was hot and delicious. Bathrooms are clean and spacious. The only negative was the long wait time for the food.

My go-to when I visit New Haven. The food is consistently delicious. And the oysters. Oh my goodness - the best.

We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and dining atmosphere of this property. The food was quite good but two of four meals both the pork cutlets were served barely warm. The other two meals were halibut and it was excellent. Perhaps the cutlets were finished too early and waited on the halibut. The server was friendly and efficient but obviously was handicapped by the kitchen meal preparation timing. Overall a nice spot worth trying. We will be back again.

Go here if someone else is paying for it and you’re looking for a spot that’s ambiance > cuisine. The staff are lovely and solicitous. The eggs benedict were decent but not anything special; I was a little hungry after the $20 two eggs on biscuits with a smattering of dressed greens on the side (no home fries :( which I’ve gotten elsewhere). You can get much more generous brunch portions for less money at other restaurants in New Haven (nearby - Maison Mathis; East Rock - Poppy’s or Pantry come to mind). That being said, the dining room is lovely, with the giant glass windows that make its home in downtown hotel (The Study) an iconic fixture on Chapel Street providing an expansive view of passerby.

Nice atmosphere and always a pleasant visit. I love that they always have a nice variety of vegetarian options on the menu as well. The staff here is very accommodating and friendly. Last but not least the food is always delicious and there's always something new in the menu for me to try whenever I visit. This is a great place to meet work/ business clients of you are looking to impress.

Went to Heirloom for birthday celebration brunch. Super easy access with valet parking. Restaurant is clean, modern design without being pretentious and the food is unique twists on traditional brunch food. Absolutely fresh, beautifully prepared benedicts, pancakes and creative avocado toast. Great coffee and cocktails as well. Will definitely go back and try dinner next!

We wanted to try out the saturday brunch menu at Heirloom and it was quite good. Very good quality and perfect quantity for the price point. Nice ambience. Service… can be improved, however

Pretty decent brunch fare with a variety of healthy options and indulgences. The egg bake dish (forget the name) was flavorful and filling, and the quinoa bowl and burgers were satisfactory as well. The homemade potato chips were a bit greasy and soft, but overall pleasant brunch. But for what the food is, the place is overpriced, but it also has to do with the fact that there aren’t great restaurant options in New Haven. Finally, service is super slow, so prepare to be patient if you go.

Came for Saturday brunch. Ricotta blueberry pancakes were super dry, they don’t use maple syrup but artificial syrup, tomato soup was great, egg sandwich with tomato was good but bun very greasy, home fries just ok, and grilled cheese good with plenty of fluffy bread. Highlight was Maria Bloody Mary. So meh…nothing really special here.
