SO GOOD we went back two days in a row & I couldn't even wait to get home, I was eating them in the car on the way back lol. I got the whole clams & they were so juicy & perfectly seasoned. The staff is very nice & they're fast!

Excellent quality and fresh seafood. The Shrimp and Scallops Platter was flavorful.

I order for my friend and myself whole clam platter. They give us a decent amount of fried clams with tartar sauce, hot sauce, few lemon slices, and 2 or 3 slices of toasted white bread. The clams usually come out crunchy with some softness. It costs more to make fried clams on your own according to my friend who is addicted to them now.

What is up with these prices! It’s not just this restaurant, but $36 for a three-way combo (shrimp, scallops, fish fillet)? A lot of fish in the box, too much. Lots of fries and onion rings, too. Would have rather had more shrimp and scallops.Had to pay extra for a little container of coleslaw which should have come with the meal. Had to add a lot of salt and pepper because food was very bland. Food was ready on time. Ordering was easy and they do allow for substituting onion rings for other items. employees are cool, but I just don’t think I got my money’s worth. I don’t see myself going back, but if I did, I’d skip the fish, just get a shrimp and scallop Platter, and save myself $13. I basically paid an extra $13 for a whole mess a fish. I was trying to give the restaurant a four because it seems like a community fav, but this isn’t my community (LOL) so I can be more objective. and I just can’t go with four stars.

This was my first visit, but I cannot allow it to be my last. The "D'Amato style" flounder sandwich was one of the best fish sandwiches I've ever had. The fries and cole slaw were excellently done as well. I grabbed takeout, and the food was well packaged and equipped with the necessary utensils and napkins without my asking. The impression I get from this establishment is that they do things well and they do things right.

D'Amato's is the best seafood that I've had on the east coast!! Every time we touch down in New Haven, D'Amato's is one of our first stops. We called in an order, and it was fresh, hot, and seasoned to perfection!! I can't say enough good about this restaurant!!! This is a MUST for any visitor to the Yale/New Haven area!! As an aside! I would love to open one of these restaurants here in ATLANTA. There are NO seafood spots that come even close. I've searched all over, and D'Amato's is the BEST!!!!

This casual seafood restaurant is excellent. They specialize in cooking seafood and take it seriously. For example, when you order fish and chips, there are five fish options. I had a fried shrimp and crab cakes platter with french fries and okra. When they brought it out, I said, Wow. The portion was generous, perfectly fried and sprinkled with flaked salt and fresh pepper. The crab cakes had visible bits of crab and were pleasantly dense. The shrimp were succulent and the breading was neither too thick for too thin. The okra was fresh and it is delicious dipped in the house cocktail sauce. The steak cut fries have the skin on them, which I love. The picture just shows what I took home as LEFTOVERS--there was at least twice that much when it arrived. The prices are competitive with other places in town, but the quality is much higher here. Check it out!

My meal was cooked correctly however the portion was not right for the price. Two pieces of fillet and about six scallops $27.00. I understand Covid raised prices however if your charging at least better portions.

I love their food, even when we asked for no seasoning the food was good! We got the captain's platter so that was enough to fill 4-5 people and have some leftovers. Either way good food and nice people! I've ordered from them before and they were very kind to us. I definitely will get food here again someday when I can. Please buy food here if you like fried seafood!

I am from out of town and I always get seafood when I come to New Haven, Ct. Especially the whole belly clams which are impossible for me to get in my hometown. I always have encouraged others to dine in when eating seafood, it just tastes better. However, I was heading back to Florida so I got carry out. Whole belly clam platter….. Delicious!!! Even while riding in a truck. The platter included clams, fries, and onion rings. Lightly battered it was a fried food delight. My friend had a fried fish sandwich on toasted bread and he agreed that it was a good meal. I must reiterate this food is best serve hot but I won't complain about this one. The platter is big enough for 2 unless you are a big eater. So enjoy!

This is the second time I had an incident first time I only got three shrimps on a shrimp platter and this time I got raw catfish, I placed my order, but I was an hour late picking it up to bring it to a party just to find out it was raw I called Saturday and spoke to Rico He said he would fix it up for me only to find out I had to repay more than what I paid originally $40. Which was not fair especially when we’ve been going there for years. but now I don’t know if I could recommend them anymore.

This is our second time here, first time we ordered combo #1 for 2. This time we ordered mixed combos. Everything is good, the whole clams and scallops are our favorite. We have been to many cities and states, lots of places serve fried seafoods but this is by far hands-down, number one, best fried foods of them all! The food quality is consistent and so well-executed. On top of that, the staff is very friendly too. If you are around town, you have to stop by here!

Horrible, Served our food on a dirty tray, had to call cashier who changed out our tray, never heard of whole belly quahogs disguised as whole belly clams, onion rings were tasteless and dry as all get back, for 35 dollars the food was garbage, I won't be back. Lost out on an eat out customer. Best out of this experience was the cashier, she definitely deserved her tip.

Been a customer since the fair haven location.... usually my favorite place to go! For who takes the order, Paying attention to an order is very important, especially when spending to eat. Buying something but not getting what you asked for can be disappointing and ruin an entire meal! Hopefully this gets better ❤️

Amazing food and service. One of the best lobster rolls in CT, if not the best. The fried seafood platter quality was top-notch and portions were beyond generous. Very friendly staff. Well organized even when busy.

Don't let the small dinning area fool you! This is hands down the best fried seafood we have had. The quantity is ridiculously abundant! We had the combo #3, a lobster roll, side of shrimp and a lobster bisque. We didn't even touch the combo. We had to take it home. Definitely will be coming back.

Took my 2 sister in laws there for the first time. They are from Stamford and said there was nowhere to get a good fried fish sandwich. By the time we reach Fitch and Whalley Ave, I had to turn the car around so they could order again. This time they ordered 4 additional sandwiches and 2 orders of fried shrimp. So now they drive 45 each way to get a sandwich.

Staff gives a warm welcome, and very polite. Very clean with safe precautions due to COVID. Prices very reasonable with a nice variety of seafood, sides, and desserts. Food was delicious and fresh. My boyfriend and myself were very satisfied and looking forward to going back.

The seafood was the best I have had in a long time. I had fried whole belly clams. They were perfectly crisp, fresh, and hot and lightly battered. The portion was very, very large.
