Please find a different hospital to go to for anything spinal relates. The whole department are just there to clock in and clock out. They do not care. The team lacks empathy and professionalism. They have rescheduled my appointments 4 times. I hadn’t seen someone for over 8 months. I’ve been a going for 4 years and all the good doctors have left. I use to have one who was professional. He was great but they put me randomly with someone who doesn't want to give me the time of day. Every time I try to tell my doctor what’s been going on she shushes me and say how cute and adorable I am until I give up trying to explain my symptoms. I’m almost 30! Stop trying to belittle my experiences and pain! I feel like I’m not heard or that they don’t want to fix the problem fully. I am trying look into a solutions not just ways to “get by”. They aren’t looking to the future but what will be easy for them right now. Please find a better hospital that actually cares about the patients. It will save you so much time, money, and happiness.

The patient wait times are intolerable. Patient centered care is non-existent. Pain management side of the house presumes everyone is 'drug seeking' as evidenced by their intake questionnaire, which interestingly I cannot get a copy of, even though I've requested several times and which they refused to give me at final appointment. Here's the kicker-after degrading you and treating you with what can only be described as hostility, you have to return for any pain management, which could be a wait of several weeks. Everyone here would benefit from cultural competency and active listening skills training. Do not expect person centered care here-it is beyond their skillset. This review would be zero stars but alas, Google needs at least one.

Terrible first experience here. I saw Dr. Arya Varthi, MD for major back pain. I had 3 different nurses come into the exam room to ask the same 10 questions all over again. After going through this nonsense, Dr. Varthi finally comes in to exam my back and was very unfriendly and seemingly cared less about my concerns. He literally spent 10 min with me and assumed I have a bulging disk in my back and suggested 6-8 week physical therapy WITHOUT having any x rays or mri results to confirm this. After requesting a referral for an mri, as I would rather be sure what was wrong with my back BEFORE treatment, Dr. Varthi gave me a dirty look and told me it wasn’t necessary, even though I was actively in pain. This was 2 weeks ago. Today I got a second opinion from a completely different doctor at The Neurological Surgery at Saint Francis Hospital. And after having x rays and an mri done per the drs recommendation, we find out that I not only had a herniated disk in my back BUT I also have a serious compression fracture as well! So glad I trusted my gut and got a second opinion. Unlike Dr. Varthis recommendation of physical therapy. I am now on the right tract to getting better. Pain free. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU ARE SERIOUSLY HURT. What a joke. Completely lost trust in this doctor for his negligence.

I was a former spinal surgery patient with this practice, after 4 years the operation that was performed on me failed. I called after severe pain and not being able to stand or walk, I was treated as though I never existed and was told I could have an appointment on October 25th six week wait. After making the appointment, a week later received a call that I would have to reschedule for November. I do not know what has happened to Yale but the staff who works at this spinal center is absolutely horrendous. I have never been treated by anyone on the phone as I have by this staff. It is no wonder my surgeon left this practice. I would give them not one star if I could.

I agree with the majority! It’s really sad that a healthcare facility makes you feel uncomfortable when you’re already dealing with a lot. My first visit there after a failed surgery with one of their providers was horrendous. Let’s start with the unfriendly office staff. I worked in healthcare and know that the front office is the first line of communication for the patient. This also sets the tone. I Waited one hour to be seen in a room full of patients. No television to take your mind off being at the office. When I finally seen the provider, yeah questions were answered but not really. Provider mentioned he wanted to book a follow up appointment (this actually happened twice) but never made it or relayed it to his nurse to make each time. Left me in the office for about 15 minutes. I just wanted to leave and didn’t even ask to book the appointment. Now let’s get to calling the office. It’s especially horrible since the pandemic. They’re working from home, so when you call to leave a message, they’re leaving a message to a nurse who has to get back to the staff who then may or may not get back to you! YALE DO BETTER! Oh and please spare me with the prewritten we apologize blah, blah, blah! I’m currently seeking another healthcare system that works for the patient and not the dollar! Where’s the no star option?

This place is THE WORST! The lack of communication and empathy from the front desk, to managers, even to Drs!. I was appalled at how I was treated. Do NOT go here! Hartford Healthcare has spine center(s) Their facilities are AMAZING and the staff is so understanding and welcoming.

I had a great experience with Dr. Raju and his team. Everyone from the front desk to the operating table is extremely pleasant. Although the wait to be seen after my lumbar MRI was longer than hoped for, they can’t be faulted for being extremely busy during a pandemic, when people like me who put off elective procedures are resurfacing in droves. Scheduling and communication with the office has been great - after my intake I was able to schedule an epidural injection within several days, which was a huge relief! The procedure went very well and it was definitely one of the more interesting experiences I’ve had. Previous shots that I received elsewhere seemed rushed in comparison to this, and I swear I don’t recall other providers using live imaging to guide them. Dr. Raju was great at explaining everything simply as we went along, and it was fascinating to hear all the medical jargon about x-ray angles, spinal anatomy, etc. I really appreciated all the headsups he gave that I might feel tingling or pressure, and updates on progress towards completion. I highly recommend Dr. Raju and the practice!

Dr Kolb was really exceptional. He explained everything that was done to my back which was extremely extensive. I had to wait on bed rest for one week! Only Dr Kolb would perform the surgery. I am the day after surgery and am up, walking to a hard chair and sitting entirely up for 3 hours. Suffice to say I am really amazed that Dr Kolb took on my case and did such an awesome job. He not only spoke at length with me, he called my companion and spoke at length with him.

My mother was given a new life by Dr Eric K Holder. Having very severe arthritis in her bones, the pain in her sacroiliac joint had limited her mobility which could impose various risks especially for an elderly in her 80s. Her pain has been managed by steroid injections in that area handled by Dr Holder. He is kind, smart and very compassionate about his patients.

I saw Dr. Debra Petrucci and I was told there was nothing she could do for me. No explanation at all. I wouldn't recommend anyone go to her. Very dismissive and rude.
