One of the biggest libraries on Long Island with a huge collect and a Veterans display. Visit @sagacityjournals on Instagram for a full tour.

Love this library but it is FREEZING in the winter time! It is already 30 degrees outside! Why do we have the AC inside?! It shouldn't feel the same outside as it does inside. Everyone has to wear their winter coats inside because it is so cold, especially in the quiet room. The only reason I need to come to the library is for peace and quiet to study for my exam but I shouldn't feel frigid while doing that.

Me and my 16 year old went into the teen section so that I could help him study for the SAT and I was told that I cannot be there because I’m an adult. We left and went to the hillside library because all the other tables were full. What good is a library if a father can’t study with his son? I pay thousands of dollars in tax money to the Elmont library each year and I can’t even use it.

First time visiting. Lovely customer service in children’s section by one of the librarians and overall. Arts and crafts for the kids. Great selection of books. They had a blind date with a book In the teens section. The hands on for the kids is closed due to covid pandemic at this time. They have movies for the public on weekends. Currently you don’t have to wear a mask if fully vaccinated but everyone was. Will be coming back again.

This library is by far one of the few diamonds in Nassau county . Very well kept and the service is like royalty . Everyone is treated with upmost respect and very helpful for any information needed or book borrowed. They have a wonderful kid section and safe parking is available. I love the extra activities they provide such a painting and cooking classes.

BS +++ One of the best, organized, upgraded libraries in Nassau County. The location is very calm and usually empty. Lots of quiet areas, books are updated, and there are adult, teens, kids areas. Also there are events held here often as well as movie viewing for free. They also rent games and movies. I love it here and so does my son.

Although this library is spacious and very well organized and the staff is friendly and helpful. However, it is not quiet enough , especially if you are there to study. The front desk staff is loud. There’s no enforcement of the no cellphone use policy. In my opinion, the staff needs training on how to make this library a more peaceful and pleasant environment.

They always have wifi issues and poor manners from some staff. Today, they had wifi issues and the internet was down for almost 2 hours (probably more). I went to the staff desk over by the computers and printers section and asked a young man. If the wifi was down. Two people were at the desk. A woman sitting down and assisting someone else at this time. Anyway the young man gave me such a look. Stared at me, then looked down and started shaking his head in a no motion (left to right) but then he looked back at me and said 'The wifi is not working'. I said 'ok' and walked away. The look he gave me though, made me feel as if I was stupid for asking that question as if it was obviously down and I was bothering him. I had just came in at that point and was setting up my computer when I noticed the issue. I get it. He was probably bombarded with people coming up to him before me, asking the same question. However, I felt like, though his verbal response was not disrespectful, his mannerism/attitude was passive aggressive. He came came off as being annoyed and just rude. As someone who has worked in the customer service industry for years, I can understand being overwhelmed by the job but that's no excuse to be obnoxious and rude. A pleasant demeanor goes a long way.

I love the community aspect of libraries and the staff here are always so great. Adam has been incredibly kind, patient, and helpful whenever I needed anything. Even when it’s busy, he will still do his best to make every patron feel valued and respected.

What an incredible Library and Center for the community! Check out their Calendar 📅 of Events to register for music events, learning lectures and more (especially for children) Double check to see if registration is required! Some events are available for Elmont patrons only. My 1st visit was to learn about Women who lived and voyaged on Whaling Ships 🚢 🐋 It was called "Tales of The Women at Sea" presented by The Whaling Museum and Education Center of Cold Spring Harbor. I plan to visit again for more educational programs. Just check the website!

It was great! It showed the movie 80 for Brady. It was in their theater. Very clean and comfortable. Ample seating. The moderator gave a very nice speech before the movie about upcoming community events.

Elmont Memorial Library is absolutely a wonderful library. It's clean, everything is well organized, and it's just a beautiful place to visit for children and families. Whenever I go there it makes me think about history because of the architectural design of the building. There's a study room, a children library inside of the library, computer center, reference desk, and a great 👍 staff. Lastly, there's plenty of parking.

This library is one of the noisiest libraries. They allow people to talk loudly on cell phones. They have signs up saying you must wear a mask to enter library but then won’t enforce that when a no mask wearing coughing man sits at my table. Why have the signs up? Signs up saying you must register to sit at table - clearly these rules are only fir some people as if they enforced that then maybe coughing man would not have sat at table with me. When you approach staff they say they cannot enforce it.

Elmont memorial Library is a marvelous building. A site to behold. Unfortunately most times it happens to be the loudest Library in New York. The main hall is so noisy you can barely hear yourself think. If it wasn't for the quite study rooms one could never get anything done. I mean what appen to the days of " SHHHHHH this is a Library "
