    I brought my dog to the vet hospital and there are long waits there but everyone is friendly. No complaints there. The real issue is the grooming salon. We brought our dog there and it took 7 hours. He came out looking like a rat, he was completely shaved. Then he went on to shake for days and 2 days later started vomiting to the point he was throwing up blood. $1k at the doggy ER and a round of antibiotics, turns out both ears had under his fur, giant infected cuts the grooming salon failed to notify me about beyond "he didn't like getting his ears trimmed". This place is a scam. We spent $70 on grooming for a terrible outcome and then had to spend even more because they infected him and didn't tell us. Disgusting. Worst place ever. We almost lost our 1 year old dog due to the carelessness of petco. First photo is before, second is after, and third is waiting at the doggy er after he threw up blood.

    They need better groomers. Service is horrible. They used to be better. Paid specifically for nails trim, ear and teeth cleaning for my dog and checked his ears to see they were still dirty. His nails were badly cut. About 50$ down the drain. Scheduled an appointment for the weekend to get him a haircut there but honestly as much as he really needs a cut, I am debating bringing him here. They need to hire experienced groomers who actually care about their job and pets.

    Being in the midst of a pandemic with a new puppy has been both great and challenging. Luckily (so we thought), we had a local Petco in our area. Unfortunately, we were sadly mistaken. For a bit of context, our puppy is a large breed (Newfoundland), so when taking him for his first grooming appointment we expected that the professionals there would handle or be able to handle his grooming and care. We booked an appointment three weeks in advance (a Sunday), and we received a call the day before that his appointment needed to be changed. After several phone calls and waits on hold, we finally spoke the grooming sector and they "graciously" allowed us to keep our pet's appointment. Needless to say, it wasn't a great experience. Feeling optimistic, we booked again, imagining a better experience. Sadly, we were mistaken. We booked an appointment on 6/9/21 for 6/30/21. Fast forward to 6/30/21 and we receive a call that not only should we move our appointment forward 2 hours, they demand we do. Being that we had both scheduled according to our work schedules (as people do) we couldn't change the appointment. Within 30 minutes of dropping our pup off we received a call that our dog "does not like the blow dryer but we could reschedule to have him washed and sit in a cage until he was dry enough to come home". While that might suffice in another scenario, he had been there once before and come home perfectly dry! All of this to say, we immediately told this "groomer" that we would pick our pet up and please send him home! I would advise those looking for a groomer, look elsewhere!! Your pet will thank you :)

    So whoever clips the birds wings does it too close to the body. Because the bird had issues already from when brought home, and a manager decided to act terrible & disgusting like towards me, accusing me of hurting the bird, when even the vet concluded it was its clipped wings. I've adopted a cat, some fish, & birds before here, and never cat a problem until now. This manager had blue hair speaking horribly towards me. And lately the employees & managers have not even cared about actually working. There's a lot that needs to be fixed at this store. It used to be so good.

    Worse experience I’ve had!! Angelica who tended to my morkie was rude and had a nasty attitude. I tried explaining to her about what causes his skin to get irritated after grooming and she looked at me as if I was asking for something free. She took Ace in and went inside where I can clearly see her with another female groomer looking at me and talking about me while I was still standing there. I was even scared to ask her appropriately what time Ace would be ready because of the dirty looks she was giving me. I’ve never had such an unprofessional and horrible experience before! It was my first and last time there and I only went there because East Setauket groomers were completely booked

    The lady at the front desk is extremely rude , I made an error on my appointment date and rather than assisting me she became extremely loud and speaking to me as if I was a child, and also stated “these” people are so stupid. I am of African American decent and I have been to petco plenty of times and loved the service but after the situation this morning I will never spend another dime in this company because they hire unprofessional people like this.

    Bay Shore store has wonderful staff and is kept very clean and neat. Always someone to answer a question or guide you to the product you are looking for.

    This is my go-to Petco store! My service dog goes here for grooming and wellness appointments! I've had the Vital Care package for over 2 years now and I couldn't be happier! My doggo is healthy and happy too!

    My "Bella" a shitzu loves to go get groomed here. I always have to buy her a toy before leaving. I love that you get discounts points when you purchase anything. They come in handy, Bella demands top shelf everything.

    The grooming crew at Bay Shore Petco are top-notch (and come to think of it so are the store staff). They have been taking care of our two boys for years now. Danielle is our regular groomer but now that she's out on maternity leave, Roxanne has been caring for Brady and Marlowe. Can't say enough about them, so I'l just leave five stars! ;)

    We made an appointment for 4:30 but heavy traffic make us delayed. I call at 4pm no one answer, and I call again at 4:30 said we almost arrive.we already drive half hour. The receptionist said doctor will leave early, make another appointment. Are you guys are decimated medical staffs? They are too lazy

    Excellent customer service! Very helpful, patient staff. Had to get my dogs an upgrade of collars, leash and dog tags. Each of 3 representatives were extremely courteous.

    Well my experience is divided. When I walked in I saw a young female and I spoke to her on what I needed. However I didn't know if there could be more items for our dog and while asking her, the way she spoke, I felt silly. She eventually walked away and sent a guy. He seems to be more knowledgeable in what I needed. Also the cashier also was nice. They seem to be stocked on everything.

    Me and my girlfriend went there yesterday November 4th on a Thursday. We wanted a new pet to go further into our relationship. We looked around a little until we came across the hamsters. I had a few questions but it was almost impossible to find help. As soon as we found someone to help us out the lady was super rude to us and give us a huge attitude as if she didn’t want to help us. She continued to tell us she didn’t want to get bit with a nasty tone in her voice. She then finds another lady to help us out since it was clear she wanted nothing thing to do with helping us. The other lady seemed she didn’t want to help us either. She again gave us a nasty attitude and made our experience horrible. She proceeded to tell us we needed to be 18 years or older with my drivers license in her hand showing that I’m 19 years of age. Clearly the workers here did not want us to buy any animals there. After we decided what animal we were going to get she gave us another attitude and said I’ll meet u upfront. Me and my girlfriend have never ever had a hamster before and had a ton of questions to ask but the workers at pet co were absolutely no help. You guys ruined our mood of the day and ruined our experience in trying to get a new pet for our family.

    Grooming salon did a horrible job with my dog. They Basically shaved some spots of his body. My dogs coat is uneven. My dog came out looking like a rat.

    I went into the store looking for a particular item for my dog's birthday. Although I did not find what I was looking for, when I went up front to the registers to ask for help the man informed me that they didn't have it in store. I explained why I wanted it and he recommended me another item. I took a look and I did in fact by what he recommended. As long as it makes my doggy happy. Very helpful and friendly. Awesome job.

    Excuse me for a moment while I go full Karen mode. Just came back to get a refund on my fish who died after having it for a week and the woman behind the counter (I say woman because her name tag was turned around so I couldn't see her name) gave me an attitude the entire interaction. I was told when I bought the fish that there was a 30 day policy and if your fish dies before to bring in the water from the tank and as long as you used your petco rewards number it would be fine. This women gave me an attitude and accused me of fraud. As if i would commit fraud for a $7 fish. If I was just faking it for the money I would be trying to return the $150 spent on the tank. Maybe make sure your employees are more clear with what they tell people instead of giving your customers an attitude. I was also told that it says in on the receipt that I need to bring the dead fish. It doesn't, and if you're wondering, it doesn't say it on the website either. Never coming back.

    I brung my 15week old pitbull to get her shots, the staff was super knowledgeable, also the trainers were extremely helpful with advice on raising my pup. The store was clean and appeared fully stocked, great experience.

    Love this Petco. Staff is always super nice and helpful. BTW I saw a review quite a few ppl below mine....Chris Liopyras is the user...I understand you having an unsatisfactory experience at the store...and even having an unpleasant encounter with an associate working there...for you to call this woman out about her work ethic is one thing but then to follow it up with "ugly arm tattoos" if this was to help other viewers of your review become "aware" of said associate you could have just mentioned her arm tattoos and not degraded her by calling them ugly. To each their own. Who are you to judge. Its disgraceful the way we have become as a society that we automatically fall victim to name calling and berating when something doesnt go the way we hoped or planned.. Hopefully this doesn't fall on deaf ears. You can get your point across just as well by being a decent human being! 😘
