This station is huge and very busy . I don't think that having pub just next to it is good idea because it did not feel safe even if the transport police is also here . Too many drunk people ( Saturday ) and I mean crowds and crowds of people and noise to the point you can't gather your thoughts . It feels at times like anarchy came into town and noone is able to control it . On the other side , the station is nice with few cafes and restaurants . Toilets could be better maintained and more clean . I have been on many big train stations with thousands of people passing through but here it was just chaos .

This is a very historic town that has become our favorite place to visit in the UK. There is a tremendous amount of restaurants and pubs to visit during your stay. The city itself is has beautiful water views and very historic properties. There are many attractions and there is also some shopping if desired. The people are extremely friendly and the city is not too busy. You can easily walk most of the city on foot. The city walls offer a great historical story and also are an easy way to view a great deal of York. The rail access is excellent and there are many options to explore the beautiful countryside as well. There are many must sees, including York Minster, The Shambles, the Train Museum, the York Castle Museum, the York Chocolate Store and the Viking center.

Very beautiful historic town. Lots to see. York Minster is a gen not to be missed. Lots of interesting, old streets to wander about. Don't miss the walks along the river. We spent 2 weeks here and still there was much more to see and do. The food/restaurants were fantastic. Lots of vegan/vegetarian restaurants.

I was highly satisfied with my experiences of departing and arriving at this station, where there are large platforms that make for ease of access to and from trains. The station is massive and has a glorious glass roof that spans most of the area, which is navigable due to bridges connecting platforms and directional signs. It has a very pleasant entrance/exit facility, featuring shops and a temporary Christmas tree alongside a classic York logo! Departing on my connection train to Leeds was a link efficiently made since the departure board lists the routes clearly and when waiting for the service, I was comfortable sitting in the waiting room for platforms 10 and 11.

This is a sizeable train station. It's one of the biggest I have visited so far, and contains all the usual facilities and fixtures one would reasonably expect in a train station. A plaque in the station states that it was (maybe most recently) renovated in 1982, and while it is quite clean generally, many surfaces around the station are beginning to show their age. There are taxis and buses outside which ease transport into York, and there is an abundance of shops around wherein snacks can be purchased while you wait for your train.

I always look forward to a day in York. From York Station, climb up onto the City Walls and head towards York Minster. Climb down to the River Ouse at Lendal Bridge. Here you will Barker Tower and located within The Perky Peacock. Cross the River Ouse on Lendal Bridge, either turn right into Lendal or head to York Minster and turn right. Either way will find oneself in a maze of old streets, easy to get lost. Look out for The Minster Gate Bookshop, an absolute must visit when in York. The Shambles is probably the most famous street. Off The Shambles a market. The street food stalls give a miss. Head to Fossgate, long overdue pedestrianised, and visit Kiosk and The Hairy Fig. Kiosk the best coffee shop in York, The Hairy Fig a deli. York City Council needs to get their act together, pedestrianise Fossgate. It was pedestrianised during lockdown, a great improvement. York City Council need to get their act together, improved signage for York Station. I was shocked by the number of empty shops in York, others closing down. There were fewer people on the streets than previous visits to York. York BID, no benefit to anyone, the BID Levy an additional burden on struggling local businesses.

I love this train station and have many fond childhood memories of passing through here on my adventures. It is a huge train station with many platforms. I liken it to King's Cross in design, and I love that it hasn't changed much in 30 years. It is clean and well maintained with friendly and helpful staff. There are plenty of amenties that are a little pricey, and the town centre is a five minute walk away, as is the Railway Museum.

A historic city worth visiting many times. The highlight was visiting York Minster, a building so spectacular and of a fantastic design. The detail in the architecture is awe inspiring. There are many places to see, like the wall experience, The Jorvik Viking Centre which is full of stuff dug up during the excavation and at the as you enter, there is a glass floor covering a dig, revealing viking ways of living. York Museum is a must. I'm not detailing here because you have to see it for yourself.

A large station that is open and airy unlike some of the "underground" stations. Facilities near the main entrance on the platform and there is a short cut through to the Principal Hotel.

Loved it here! Would deffo recommend. Be mindful if you have mobility issues because it's hilly, uneven and narrow pathways, cobbled streets but please don't let that put you off. We stayed out of the city centre and opted for closer to the station. We noticed a Travel lodge in the city centre though. York is just a city lathered in History, round ever corner without even having to look for it. The city centre is quite small and by day 2 we'd got our bearings near enough helped along by the difference of the multiple bridges into and out of the city centre. Most of the shops near the priory were closed which was a bit dissapointing because there were plenty in use just not open and we walked that stretch at least twice a day. Plenty of cafes and places to eat and drink. Overall a lovely city I am sure we will.visit again because we have more to see and doπŸ‘Œ Thanks York for being a beautiful cityπŸ‘Œ

Very easy to navigate with great pubs near by and food options inside. Not too far to the centre of york (walking distance) to both the shops, cathedral and racecourse (at a push). Busy on race days

Not the best weather unfortunately (June) but everything else was fine. Pleasant place to stay, came up for a play, saw a very private garden and a really good meal on my last night.

Well, it's one of the most outstanding stations in the U.K. for its beauty! Old victorian features blend in seamlessley with swish modern service. It's easy to find where you are and where you're going, with coffee shops, pubs and a first class lounge if you're on a fancy streak. If you're coming to York, take the train! Good for the environment, and the architecture in this station is good for the soul. :)

A large number of destinations available to travel to. A large number of toilets on the concourse. A reasonable amount of shops and small cafes are available, including a Sainsburys local. A good amount of trains to each destination. A good number of buses connecting the station. Amazing architecture as well.
