UPDATED REVIEW: Been coming here for years for late night eats. INSANE KILLER RIBS ‼️ fries are great and customer service is terrific especially considering I'm usually there very late at night. Keep up the good work!

Rocky runs the oldest family run dive bar in Memphis. Alex was his Dad and since he passed away, Rocky has made this place famous. The winner of multiple national "Best Southern Bar" or "Best Dive Bars in America", you can't go wrong at Alex's. Most know they are famous for their "Greek Burger," but in recent years Alex's started winning awards for "Best Ribs," "Best Gumbo" and "Best Wings." Memphis Trivia: Alex's is the best spot to see an out of town celebrity who wants to be local for the night. Simply put, Alex's has amazing food in a dive bar setting, run by the best Tavern keeper around. He doesn't take no sh!t from anyone, while treating everyone who comes in like family. Cold, affordable beer and surprisingly comfortable chairs that are hard to leave when the game is on. Use your manners and tip well. Rocky will take good care of you.

My always go to place on a Saturday night after 9pm. The food and service are always stellar. We came in for a burger. Our lovely bartender brought us a sample of the gumbo Rocky had made and told us Rocky was just about to take a couple of racks of ribs off the grill. Ordered all of it, burgers, ribs, wings. I forget to order the gumbo so got a bowl to take home with me. Go there,

Don’t miss this dive bar that’s been owned and operated by the same family since 1953. Great place to watch sports and eat some of the best wings, burgers and spicy tenders ever. No Nashville, you didn’t invent spicy chicken, but these guys may have. Beer and cash-only bar never closes.

Nice dive bar. Cash only, but they have an ATM. Burgers and wings were reasonably sized and priced. Limited draft list, but there's probably something there you'll like. Good conversations and friendly service.

Fantastic bar, it’s a bit out of the way but came highly recommended. Pablo the bartender is as friendly as it gets. He was happy to chat to us for ages and share his knowledge of the city. Definitely go to Alex’s Tavern if you’re in Memphis. We had a great night there.

First and foremost, this place takes cash only. They do have an ATM inside, which is nice. This place is a gem and definitely worth a visit - Rocky runs a great establishment with cold, decently-priced beer and some INSANELY good food. Living literally walking distance from here, I can attest that Alex's is almost always busy most nights of the week and for good reason.

Arrived on Sunday July 9th at 245pm and waited till 3.30pm. Called several times but no answer. Guess they aren't really open on Sundays like the website says. But I love the Greek, the atmosphere and the staff. Just wish I didn't have to wait till Monday.

Such a fun late night place. Burgers and wings were amazing. Has old jukeboxes and tvs for a fun hangout esp winding down for the night

Placed a pick up order via phone. The person taking the order was nice. I had never been to this place before. It’s your typical dive bar but it was packed on a Saturday late afternoon. FYI this is a CASH ONLY establishment. Maybe there is a sign in the building that I missed that said this but I definitely wasn’t told when I placed my order via phone. Paid $31 for cheeseburger and fries and about 7 small drummies. Seems a little expensive but maybe this is the typical price for dive bar food. I was never shown a receipt so I can’t tell you the price for each item. Food was fine.

Owner and chef Rocky and bartender Marc treated us incredibly well on our visit. We were only visiting Memphis but they made us feel right at home. The wings and greek burger were great too visit if you love a dive bar

Food was very good but very pricey for burger and wings meal. We paid roughly $20 per person. Great burger though and the blue cheese wing sauce was amazing!

Great low key local dive bar with a cool owner. They have cold beer, a juicy Greek burger, and TVs to watch sports or regular TV. I've gotta come back for the Ribs & Gumbo

The food is AMAZING! Low key chill restaurant where you might run into a local celebrity or two …ran into Priscilla Presley here! Definitely NOT a late night bar or club bar if that’s what you are looking for this isn’t the place. The ribs and chili have won awards for best in Memphis!

I've heard of this place for 40 years...only step foot in there 2 months ago...woman playing video game at bar finally took my order after me sitting at bar for about 4 minutes..2 weeks later some guy takes my order after sitting at bar for atleast 7 minutes...last time just a week ago,about same amount of time to purchase a beer...low behold don't ask if I wanted a burger.nothing...worthless vagabons working there...I guess I must have intruded on their watching TV or sleeping time....this place gets the big 0 in customer service...stay away from this place....

It's always pleasant at Alex's. Always has been. Burgers are great!!! Beer is nice and chilled... Atmosphere is laid back and chill. Nice place to watch the game, chill, and listen to the jukebox... ✌🏽

I give it four stars because it's CASH ONLY. With no cash in hand or not enough cash. You'll have to get it from the ATM. Which is a $5 fee along with the fee your bank charge. Other than that it's known for it's ribs and burgers.

I waited entirely too long for my first visit! Folks have raved about the burgers - they were right. Hand formed patty, well seasoned. Greek seasoned wings - tasty!! Evette was great server/entertainer. Owner came in brought each in our party a rib and garlic lemon butter shrimp to sample. Don't wait to visit.

Great beer selection including local craft types. Phenomenal juke box. I love the Quik Poke game! We took some gumbo to go and it was fantastic! I will visit everytime I come to Memphis. Stay awesome, Alex's!

The neighborhood bar typified. Great home made food. Soups, gumbo, chili, burgers, etc.... Sketchy parking. Cash only.

Alex's was recommended by a local. Well outside of the tourist area, the owner was extremely nice. Excellent gumbo and wings. Would highly recommend for someone looking for an out of the way dive bar with excellent food and service

Rockmo is my hero. Best burger and best wings in the city and has been for years. If you don't know...now you know.
