Delta Specialty Hospital is a toxic environment for mentally ill patients. Most of the nurses and techs are toxic and rude. Don't bring your loved ones here. They are lazy and don't want to do their jobs. They say "I'm not going to do this, I'm not going to do that, or do it yourself to the patients."They have no patience or respect for the patients, to me, the patients on the third floor have more patience and respect for the workers than they do the patients. They ignored the patients in need, even the doctors ignore your request for any help(this is not my experience, this is what I witnessed, it happened to two patients on more than one occasion at least ten times or more). Even a paramedic guy warned me at the door, how the workers are and that's sad btw that was my first time ever being there!

I give this place zero stars my mother was abused over medicated to the point she couldn't eat or drink was deprived oxygen when she is ordered to be on it 24hrs a day sustained a fall which Delta blamed on the transferring hospital and the nurse practitioner and physician was rude told me they would not send her for medical attention and to come get her my mom has bruises all over her I signed her out ama they literally were killing her!! Do not send your love ones here they are better off with out care than at delta it's sad the staff is rude unprofessional they lack to adequate staff to care for these patients not to mention prisoners are sent to this facility for mental care as well it's not a safe environment period! I have filed reports against them I hope it gets shut down!!!!!!!!!

My spouse was held against his will although he came in voluntarily. I called to ask about him and the nurses acted like they don't know who his doctor was.

This "medical facility" is a sham. They are holding my fiance against her will. She checked in voluntarily to detox from alcohol, and now they wont let her leave. In fact, they have committed her. She is no danger to herself, or anyone else, but this "hospital" wants to milk her insurance for every dollar they can get, and wont let her come home. DO NOT LET YOUR LOVED ONES GO TO THIS FACILITY. THEY WILL NOT LET THEM GO HOME!!!!

Behavior tech treated me like i was ridoculous for crying over my papa being dead when he only passed this august. Behavior techs instigate fights with patients. Barely only smoke breaks for general psych unit, only allowed one 8oz drink with meals and most people like something to drink with thwir smokes. Patients in severe duress are allowed to suffer and fights happen before anything is done. I am honestly traumatized aftermy stay there and i was only in a few days. Absolutely do not come here, they do not help tjeu make it worse.

Dr.Virk is the worst doctor Ive ever been to. They put me on medications that I told them I couldnt be on because I have only one kidney. Not one was my blood tested or taken. I asked for a pregnancy test while I was there and they just said I wasnt without issuing it. Extremely unprofessional Doctors. However, the nicest staff Ive ever met. I wouldnt suggest going there but if you have to the staff will help you a lot.

If I could give a zero I would.. Please do not place or take your love ones to this place by all means!!!!!My father was sent there by a request from a hospital 3 hours away from his home the only bed they say was available. The people are unprofessional, and I could go on well he was only there for one week and had two falls they claim one which left him with a brain bleed and a contusion on his head. My father has never fell in his 82 years of living. Well now he has to have assistance and has went down hill from there can't live on his own. This place needs to be shutdown!!!

TO ANYONE GOING THROUGH THIS ISSUE PLEASE EMAIL ME AT CSG50777 (GMAIL) SO THAT WE CAN WORK TOGETHER AGAINST THIS PLACE. If that email gets edited out of the review then find me at CSGRAML on twitter. This is a for-profit hospital that will hold people against their will for as long as insurance will keep paying. I know this because of other reviews but also a staff member directly told me that if my girlfriend does not have insurance she will be discharged (then they got her insurance info figured out). But she still has a large bill racking up and the finance department called me to try to get a down payment, and the call raised so many red flags. I was very busy at work when they called, but the finance/billing person repeatedly tried to get me to make a payment at that very moment as if it were some kind of emergency requiring immediate funds. My girlfriend had a mental health emergency and was involuntarily committed there 1 week ago and did not receive any treatment for 3 days. There is no therapy taking place, she rarely ever sees an actual doctor or psychiatrist, and when she does see a doctor, it is for very brief periods of time. There is not enough staff to care for patients and the staff are almost always busy breaking up fights or arguments between patients and cannot administer real treatment. My girlfriend is back to normal and taking medication (and has been for days) and is no longer having a mental health emergency, but they still wont let her leave. They keep pushing the discharge date back without cause. Most recently, they pushed the proposed discharge to 9/1 and it is no coincidence that 9/1 is the date that her insurance coverage ends. I have been researching the laws in Tennessee for 3 days and have identified multiple instances of her rights being violated. UPDATE: I inquired about the reason for refusing to let her leave and eventually got the doctor on the phone and the doc (Judy Allen, NP) basically made up lies by getting information from the intake file and writing that info in her psych eval notes 7 days later as if my gf was in the same mental state she was in when she was admitted. Same thing as the other review that says they used falsified medical records. I had backed them into a corner by citing TN Codes regarding patient rights and procedures for involuntary commitment and discharge, and the hospital staff retaliated by falsifying records medical nurses ER feel environment (to get this review relevant and posted at the top)

I originally came in for help w/ PTSD & depression. I stayed for 15 days, originally I was resistant to everything, but It takes time for the meds to work. They give free cigs for smokers. 4 smoke breaks a day ...most of the staff were great. The food was always yummy. The only complaint is that there are no activities AT ALL. Patients go from their bedroom to the dayroom w/ just the TV to watch but you can't hear it bc of so many ppl on the unit. Even holding group outside sometimes or having time to listen to music. Our group therapists Derrick & Lauren were great as well. Alex definitely runs a tight shift, so coming from experience....don't go back & forth w/ him or you'll lose. But he's fair, even when patients don't deserve it. I definitely want to give a major shout out to Rori, one of the techs. He's the type of person who works hard but will still take the time to help ANY patient. Out of all the techs Rori was A1 consistently. Main tip is don't go in there expecting to just be fixed in a day or two. Be mindful of the rules, they are there for your safety as well as other people.

Speaking on behalf of my fiancé. Do not come here. Please. My fiancé is a vet would was scared he may have tried to hurt himself and the VA transferred him here and it has been traumatizing from the start. They made him sign the consent forms under duress and thinking he could AMA himself once those papers were signed. They were being rude and yelling at him when he was asking questions about the forms. The patient advocate does not seem genuine or that he cares too much. Every time he calls me ( my fiancé ) I can hear him shaking and how terrified he is to be there. Pleading to get him out. The staff is mistreating the patients they don’t have previous experiences with. The doctor will only spend 2 minutes with patients and then leave. My fiancé said this and the patient advocate also said this to me. I am trying to get him out but they’re threatening to involuntary commit him if he attempts to AMA.This place will be the reason he never reaches out for help again and I’m terrified of what will happen next time he needs help… I kept being told it would only be 48hrs then it was 72, now it’s 7-14 days. Staff members keep changing stories about the phone situation. Either there are none, there’s one so they have to share, or the phones aren’t working to begin with. They lied to my fiancé last night saying I could pick him up today at 7:30. I woke up to a call from him at 7:27 saying “ please for the love of god say you’re on your way “. I stood in that parking lot for two hours trying to do anything to get him out. Do not lie to patients that need help. Do not play favorite with patients when there’s others. They also tried telling me that he threatened to hurt others and had a firearm on him when he had his bad thoughts. All lies. Find somewhere else. Do not come here. Please.

Working for Delta has been challenging yet rewarding. The staff are dependable and knowledgeable of the hospital. They are a joy to work with and care about the patients. We are able to communicate our needs to each other as well as have hard conversations. When staffing is a challenge other co workers are willing to pitch in an assist and work other hours. We have lunch, birthday celebration, and just because occasions that we share with each other. The culture has really improved and the over all department is great. #TeamDelta
