This is a must see museum and it makes you feel as if you were there. This history is a must for everyone of all races to know the history of this country. These situations haven't changed much from then to now. But, you should go see it for yourselves and then you can form your own opinion. However, the facts are still there. Go visit this exordinary piece of this country's history.

This was an amazing experience. It took about 1 1/2 hours to go through the museum. It was very historical in regards to covering civil rights. Not just all MLK but rather the history and movement. I would suggest taking this in if you get to Memphis. I’ve always wanted to visit and so glad I did.

A very important part of our history. You can view the key locations for free. There's also a complete museum with displays of the events that happened here as well as about the Civil Rights movement.

It was the most emotional tour I've been on. The tribute to Dr. King was absolutely perfect. It was very surreal standing right next to where he was murdered. Losing Dr King was a huge hit to America.

It was great and eerie to visit the Lorraine Motel. The motel where Martin Luther King spent his last hours and minutes. It's a great piece of history that is still standing. There are stands outside the hotel that have videos of black history. It's worth visiting. Parking is free too!

Thank you to those that preserved this place of significance history in a manner that allows present day people to feel as if they are standing there as it were happening. It is a moving tribute of that sad day for all of humanity. I hope that it can continue to be preserved for future generations to reflect on our human race and try to make it a good place for all.

I was surprised at how expansive the museum was. From the outside, it doesn't appear that big, especially when you visit the Emmett Til Memorial, which is near the front. But once you get past that part, doors open up to different parts of the museum. I thought the content in the museum was very educational and interactive. I took my 4yr and 1 yr old, and they didn't want to live.

I, unfortunately, did not go inside.. as it was after hours, but to even stand outside where all of this history took place. Where the untimely death of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. took place. The emotions, the appreciation intensified. 😢 🙏🏽 Thank you, thank you!

Boycott! This is gentrification of our legacy. There are no benefits to the community. Offended in so many ways. The admission prices seem to be based on the security. They charged all the veterans in our party of 14 military family. If there was community outreach & made free to students it could function as a true historical marker.. Right now it’s just a privatized money maker that’s not benefiting the community..

So full of history. Very well done. It was such an experience to stand in the building where Dr. King and his entourage stayed, and unfortunately, where Dr. King lost his life. All the information and timelines leading up to and right after his murder was enlightening, to say the least. We will need to go back again to be able to experience all this museum has. Loved the cleanliness of the place, as well. Very friendly and helpful staff.

What an Incredible experience! Please make this an item on your bucket list ( behind Graceland of course, our reason for being in Memphis). Very interactive and emotional. They did a wonderful job with museum. We did not have tickets in advance, we went on Elvis's birthday, and there were just a few field trips because MLK Jr day was the next Monday.

This is a historical hotel where MLK was assassinated. It is a great place to visit right in the heart of downtown Memphis. There is so much history and information in this museum.

One of the greatest experiences ever! Sooo much history and explanation of the struggle of African Americans. I'm grateful for those who donated to keep this leagacy alive! This was necessary to history. Just seeing the last place where Dr. King was prior to his death is breathtakingly beautiful and absolutely said.

The experience is indescribable! Very reasonably priced with Sr and military discounts! I’m so glad that I had the chance to see all of this history. It was somber and emotional. To walk where MLK and his supporters stayed and worked, until his untimely death, was surreal. I’m also Sharing to encourage others to visit!! Make is part of your bucket list!

WOW! Such a moving museum. So many historical artifacts and a great walk through the civil rights movement. It's very sad to remember the discriminatory atmosphere of the 60's and 70's in the south and America. Learn about the past so we don't repeat it! God bless MLK

To take in the full experience you need to alot a few hours. This was a really well done museum with many exhibits but it is not self guided- it is a tour and takes time to get through. Absolutely worth a stop.

This is such a huge part of history. It deeply saddened me to see how everything was when Dr. Martin Luther King was killed. Everyone should respectfully come and visit, pay respects to the man Dr. King was and walk though the rooms silently and respectfully. I left crying and with a deeply saddened heart.

To visit the National Civil Rights Museum located in old Lorraine Motel in Memphis is a powerful educational experience. After all, it was here, right outside room 306, that perhaps the most iconic figure of the civil rights movement was assassinated in 1968. Today the motel houses an excellent museum dedicated to different exhibits featuring different civil rights issues. Highlighting ever important topics in the continual struggle for dignity and equality, a stop at the old Lorraine Motel should be a must for every vistor to Memphis

Wow... This was such a soul searching experience. To visit the Civil Rights museum was a learning experience. It was also a serious period of humbling experience. The price others paid to make sure we as a people could experience the rights and freedoms we have today. Don't abuse your freedoms .. they came at a cost.

Very nice museum. Site recommended 1.5 to 2 hours, we took nearly 3 to read everything and catch every video. Museum does much more than focus on Dr. King. Expect a more full overview civil rights broadly. Clean and well taken care off place. Some renovations ongoing.

I really enjoyed learning more about Black History - American History. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the museum definitely exceeded my expectations. It was well worth it. I'm from Chicago, so it felt good to visit a piece of history where so much took place as it was a very big deal to my grandparents who were from the south and lived during the Jim Crow era. There's so much here on display to see and learn! 10 out of 10 - I recommend!

Located a couple of blocks from Beale Street and adjacent to downtown the Lorraine Motel National Civil Rights Museum is a great place to visit. It provides the focus on the Civil Rights struggle starting with an explanation of the slave trade and sadly how millions came to be relocated from Africa. It then follows key moments in the civil rights movement over the next almost 200 years culminating in an explanation of Jim Crow and ultimately the assassination of Martin Luther King jr. The Museum's displays are rich in photographs and textual descriptions explaining pivotal stories throughout the struggle. There is an admission charge and there is free parking on site.

The trip to the Civil Rights museum was pretty amazing. I visited here during my birthday trip and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The children were excited to tell me things that they knew about some of the exhibits there and I quizzed them for prizes during the visit.

I did not know how I would be affected by visiting this historic location. I actually had to take a seat on the bench right out front and I swear I was transported back to if not the day at least the time. It's a very emotional and thought provoking location. It was moving to see people from literally all over the world, from different backgrounds visiting with children and conversing about what occurred at this location. A must visit if you are in Memphis.

I wasnt' sure what to expect when we sought out the place where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated so we could pay our respects and share the history with our youngest. What the National Civil Rights Museum has done to preserve the history and memory of Dr. King is nothing short of spectacular. A sign hangs on the building that says, "The power of place. More than a Museum." They nailed that one! To see the motel preserved as if a single minute hasn't passed since that awful day will take your breath away.

Very meaningful experience. I cried at the end. I'm so grateful I was able to see the exhibits. What my people went through and go through for freedom is very near and dear to me. Also, great information about poverty which connects all races. Every person able, should see this museum.

It is a historical moment captured perfectly. Be sure to call and ask when you can get the guided tour if that is what you're seeking. Otherwise it is self paced. Be prepared to learn about many unsung heros and events of the moment. Also ready yourself to be inspired.

I've always wanted to see this place. I'm a big history buff, and this place was on my bucklist. MLK was a great man and had so much more to teach before he was taken from us. I stopped by after dinner and walked around the outside. I didn't get a chance to visit the museum. That will be my next stop.

I don't usually enjoy museums, but I think this is one I want to take time and go through. We stopped by on a Sunday so couldn't go in, but there is some information outside that gives you information. I think everyone needs to visit and reflect on America's history.

A landmark. It was closed but just being there- a place you have seen all your life, attached to even the present struggles of this country- to just be there paying homage and respect meant a lot for me and my children. With all that has come and go through all the years that have passed since it touches my heart it is still here and being kept up. Loved it!!!
