Great vibe & location — modern indian dining is definitely something you can’t find everywhere in Milwaukee. It is definitely overpriced for the quality/quantity of food but would suggest going here at least once. The service was great! They had indoor dining, as well as a small patio facing the river for outdoor dining.

Loved the crispy cauliflower! The saffron butter chicken was great too! I don’t like spicy food too much but it had just the right amount. The naan garlic was great. Tried the carrot cake for dessert (I believe that’s what it was called, I can’t remember). That was the only thing we didn’t enjoy- but everything else was amazing! Would try a different dessert next time!

Very good. Ate dinner on the patio. Service was very good. Food was very flavorful. They have several gluten free options. Including gluten free bread that they fried like traditional naan.

Make reservation to this stunning restaurant in the third ward you won’t be disappointed! Literally did not have a bad bite! The desert (not posted) was not my most favorite thing I ate But shrimp tacos great texture and flavor. Cauliflower bites were amazing! You really can’t go wrong dining here. Decor is elegant, wait staff friendly and the variety of food to choose from.. great options. Samosas were great too along with the crab cake (not posted)

Such an amazing dining experience! The waiter would always check up to see if everything is good. This is not any Indian food at other restaurants. It’s an upgraded version! Presentation is pleasing and the quality is AMZINGLY DELICIOUS! The meat is cooked to perfection, not too overcook and each curry have its own taste. Smooth, thick and cream😋the restaurant have great environmental atmosphere. It’s highly recommended 100%

This place is AMAZING! The staff from the moment we walked in welcomed us. They took time to explain the menu and find drink and food choices that worked for our group. We were a group of 8 so sometimes that’s hard. They we super accommodating and we loved the food and atmosphere. This is the best Indian food and cocktails I have had in awhile. Their attention to detail makes you enjoy your dining experience that much more. I’d recommend this place to anyone traveling through Milwaukee that likes Indian food or is at least interested in trying it: the butter chicken and bao buns are phenomenal!

The food, presentation, atmosphere, and service were AMAZING here! The lamb chop tandoori and butter chicken were our favorites but you really can't go wrong. I think this is the best Indian restaurant we've been to in Wisconsin. Friday evening into the weekend can get very busy so try to reserve in advance on those days if you can!

I was here about 3 weeks ago with my family. This is the first time I had Indian. Although, I have nothing to compare to what authentic Indian should be like, but it was delicious. From the small plate we ordered the spinach chaat, crispy cauliflower, shrimp tacos, and the samosa sampler. The crispy cauliflower was our favorite small plate. From the tandoor we ordered the chicken Tikka and for entrees we ordered chicken butter, shrimp moilee, kubami malai kofte, and the salmon curry. We thought the chicken Tikka was a little dry. Our favorite entrée was the butter chicken. It almost has like a tomato bisque taste to it and secondly, the shrimp moilee was also delicious. Chickpea malasa was good too. As for dessert we ordered the carrot cake and ras malai. Our favorite was the carrot cake, it was really good and loved the mango ice cream. We thought the ras malai had an acquired taste to find tasteful. Overall, great new modern take on Indian food, waitress was professional. Would recommend to try.

The food is delicious and the ambience is classic. Best place to go for Indian food in Milwaukee public market area and lakefront places. The chef is great and understand the needs if you have some allergies. I would really recommend it to everyone.

Thoroughly impressed with my first visit to Saffron and I can’t wait to go back. The food is upscale Indian with a creative modern twist. The ambiance is beautifully done chic but not overly fancy by any means. We came in on a whim at 5:30 on a Saturday and got bar seating without reservations- surprisingly because I think this place is usually pretty booked up. The service was impeccable. The food was delicious, well presented and honestly tasted even better than it looked. They also have a unique cocktail menu. I was looking to see how could anyone possibly give this place a poor rating and the first bad rating I saw was someone complaining about the food being too spicy.. like seriously? It’s Indian food. Don’t go out for authentic ethnic food and then expect them to dilute the taste profile to your lack of palate. My son has worked with Michelin star chefs and even he didn’t have anything bad to say about the food here. Enough said.

Vibes are awesome. Just the kind of place you want to be on a nice summer Sunday to enjoy the fresh air mingled with Indian spices. There is a live DJ playing fun Indian music on Sundays, and music was on loud but fun on their patio outside. Atmosphere inside was an interesting mix of rustic walls with chandeliers and metal furniture. Outside overlooks the Milwaukee river and you can enjoy the water view as boats and trains pass by and a light breeze refreshes. Brunch food was great, but stick to Indian, as those seem to be the best. Chicken & Waffle - chicken was dry, waffle was mushy. The chicken breading had hints of Indian spices, which was interesting, but execution was poor. Hubby had this, and I was glad I had the keema instead of the omelet, cuz I have a feeling the omelet would have been just as unspecial (hence I haven’t found a single review/photo of it lol!) Lamb Keema - This seemed to be the most keto friendly dish of the menu (minus the butter bread, which hubby was happy to devour). I requested over easy eggs rather than sunny side, and they were happy to oblige. Lamb and spices were absolutely delicious! Masala Dosa - looks like one huge, long enchilada, with curry potatoes and lentils inside. The coconut and spicy tomato chutneys were delicious, and friend enjoyed the dish, though I think he kinda regretted getting a vegetarian fare. Delhi Chole Bhature (chickpea masala) - Spices were similar to the lamb keema, and it was bursting with flavor. It was vegetarian, but was quite delicious and filling. The Fried bread that comes with was absolutely amazing. It looked like a fried naan of sorts, but soft and chewy and delish. The onion pickle was quite different from anything I’ve had before, but complimented the dish very well. Masala fries - Not too amazing, but good fries. Lotus root chips - crunchy had kicking flavors Mimosa Flight - not overly sweet, but also not very strong. Kinda felt like hard seltzers more than mimosas. Our server was attentive and helpful and pretty amazing! Despite being outdoors, we didn’t feel neglected, as sometimes you do when you’re out of sight. Overall, a very pleasant experience. Thank you Saffron!

While I have had my fair share of Indian cuisine, I am far from an expert on the matter. That being said, it's a bold move to charge $30 for a single serving of chicken and rice. Even the cocktails are $15 a piece for a gin and tonic with a kick to it. The samosa sampler was very good with the a perfect puff pastry shell and tasty fillings. Also, the butter chicken was great. The goat on the other hand was not the greatest of all time. The menu does say bone-in, but it was more bones than meat and enough seasoning to choke a cabrito. And the garlic naan bread was perfectly cooked but rang up at $6 for a single circular piece. If you want good Indian food, I recommend going somewhere not so overpriced. If you want to impress your date with your checkbook while trying out some authentic dishes, this is the place for you. The saffron rice goes for the price of saffron I reckon. 68/100 Also, the waitress Hannah was very professional and incredibly nice.

One of the best Indian Restaurants I have been to. Indian Cuisine with a Modern Twist. 10/10 points for taste and 10/10 points for food presentation also. The Chicken Tikka appetizer was so tender, juicy and flavorful. Their Butter Chicken is just out of the world! We also had the Malabar Curry which was amazing. Also not to forget the desserts- simply awesome!

I had a delightful experience at Saffron, the modern twist on traditional Indian cuisine was a pleasant surprise, and the flavors were outstanding. The ambience added to the overall enjoyment with its welcoming atmosphere. Overall, Saffron is a great choice for those looking to savor delicious Indian cuisine in a modern and comfortable setting.

I’ve been to every Indian restaurant this side of the Mississippi. As a chef, Indian food was always a fail safe as comfort food, could never be let down but was never anything special. This. This is special. The ambiance, the service, the execution, the balance in flavors… all on point. Got one of everything on the menu, and I’d get it all again. Great job

This place is hands down the best Indian restaurant in the state of Wisconsin. I love their attention to detail from creating perfectly balanced delicious dishes, glassware and drinks, to the decor. Everything we ordered was on point and the service was very attentive. We ordered the butter chicken, duck kebabs, and goat stew with a side of roti. The naan and roti were prepared perfectly (my fiancé and I also have a catering business so we notice all of the little things) I would highly recommend visiting this restaurant if you are looking for Indian cuisine. We will be looking forward to our next visit and will definitely recommend and return!

Saffron have done a fantastic job of serving not only delicious food, but creating the right atmosphere and cocktail list to compliment it. I’ve been saying for years that Indian food needs to be enjoyed in such an environment and this is officially one of my fave spots in MKE. Definitely get the Butter chicken, fig naan, garlic naan. The Tandoori Salmon also great and I imagine all the tandoori dishes are too.
