We worked with The Modernist to book some rooms for our wedding and it was lovely. I got ready with my bridesmaids and family in one of the suites and the views were magnificent and the room was beautiful and the service super helpful. I'd wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone, they're doing a great job!

This small boutique hotel is cute as a button; loved the aesthetic. I wish I could pick it up and put it on another street that has any kind of space for a car or taxi to pull over for pickup/dropoff... that was the one major flaw for me. My work required frequent travel by cab, and arriving and departing, the street is super narrow and crowded, and taken over by the business next door with delivery trucks and unloading seemingly all day and evening. You either have to circle around and around, or unload with a bunch of angry cars honking behind you. I'm so grateful to the front-desk people who helped me with my bags; I don't know what I would have done otherwise. Aside from this, it was an excellent place for me to stay for a business trip where I needed the LIC location, the mini-kitchen to save money on eating out, and a table to work on, as well as a quiet, comfortable place to sleep. You may want to bring slippers (floor is cold) and your own dishes and soap. The dishes and silverware were fancy and had price tags on them so I made sure not to touch them. I'll agree with one other reviewer that the heat/cool unit was very loud and seems quite outdated. Maybe that varies by room? Finally, I assume this will resolve eventually, but the construction noise around the hotel was relentless. Starting at 7:00am every morning with banging and sawing. Two different sites on either side. Noise cancelling headphones to the rescue. Hopefully not an issue on the weekends!

We stayed in the Manhattan view suite. It was fantastic. Great view, very clean and came with kitchen facilities. We got a good deal. The gym is small but adequate. It is a 5 minute walk from the nearest subway station - you can be in Manhattan in less than 15 minutes. There is also a 24/7 deli on the corner which was very convenient.

We were received very nicely. The room was spacious and well equipped. The hotel is strategically located for exploring Manhattan. From the balcony you have a great view of Queens Plaza. Small criticism: we had booked the room for 4 people, but there were only 2 chairs in the room. In combination with the very small table, breakfast was a bit impractical despite the kitchenette. We would definitely book a room here again immediately.

Excellent customer service, rooms are tastefully decorated with all amenities you need (plus a robe and slippers), beds are comfortable, rooms are quiet at night, indoor & outdoor lounge areas are perfect for meeting with a group or relaxing after a long day. A convenience store & liquor shop are on the corner of the block, and the subway is a couple blocks over offering easy to access Manhattan. One of my favorite details - the VIEW is incredible from every room! Large windows with automatic blinds, plus little balconies to sip morning coffee. This was my 7th stay in the city, and I have finally found a hotel that fits all my needs. When we discovered the pull out couch was rather flat, the owner surprised us with a fluffy extra mattress topper PLUS a bottle of wine. They really cared about our stay and made it personal. The owners have put so much work into this hotel, and it shows! Much more comfortable than staying in a chain hotel. Did I mention the VIEWS? We will be back for sure!

Really lovely spot. Hotel is so thoughtfully and beautifully composed and it's clear the owners have their heart in it. They're incredibly nice too! Best value we found anywhere. We did have an issue with a dirty pillowcase, and I'd highly recommend using the bath mat under the sink (otherwise the tub is super slippery). The people here are really wonderful and reaponsive though and I'm so happy we ended our trip here. Place is generally really clean, roomy, and has a great feel to it. Very convenient for LGA flights!

A hidden gem in NYC! Extremely convenient location (quick subway ride or Uber/Lyft into Manhattan), clean, spacious, wonderful value, and family-owned. There is a bodega right on the corner, plus cute restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance. I stayed with my parents for a full week while I was recovering from surgery, and the staff was extremely kind to us. Plus, the room was incredibly spacious and accommodated our needs for a long-ish stay: separate bedroom, fold out couch, TV with all of the streaming apps, a kitchenette + dining area, and bathroom with plenty of storage space. Highly recommend, and would definitely stay here again!

Can’t say enough about the Modernist Hotel. Would give it 6 stars if I could. Some of the best parts: - Location: Close to the Subway, very easy to access Manhattan - Service & Staff: extremely kind, thoughtful, and helpful. - Views: We stayed in one of the Manhattan View rooms, and the view was fantastic. - Room + Design: Thoughtfully chosen decor and furniture, kitchenette was helpful, room was cozy. The kind of place you’re okay with getting stuck in if weather isn’t favorable. - Little Flower Coffee: a couple blocks up the street. Get the breakfast burrito with the Halal bacon. You won’t regret it. Some extra notes: - I love to workout, but struggled to find into on the hotel gym. For those wondering - it has a couple cardio machines, an incline bench, and dumbbells up to 50lbs. Decent setup for a boutique, family owned hotel.

From the moment I spoke on the phone with the GM, Yianni, I had a good feeling about this luxury hotel with very reasonable pricing. My wife & I stayed for a week and thoroughly enjoyed this hidden gem in Astoria/Long Island City. It is close enough to the train to take 3 stops to Manhattan but far enough, you can’t hear it. The rooms are more spacious than most expensive apartments in NYC, the bed is very comfortable and you have good restaurants nearby. I highly recommend staying here and it’s a great recommendation for friends or family visiting New Yorkers. Thank you all for a wonderful stay!

Stayed for one-night for a staycation in the city. Great friendly service and excellent clean amenities just as pictured; rooms were very largely proportioned. There is a lovely hangout space with art that was very cool to check out. Love that it is a family-owned hotel! Definitely recommend a stay here.
