My partner and I stayed here over Labour Day weekend. We had the best time, especially as we were upgraded to a suite upon arrival which was a real treat. The room was beautiful, with high quality furnishings and a very comfy bed. The staff were really helpful and friendly, offering excellent recommendations for nearby restaurants and things to do. We also had drinks in the lobby bar which were fabulous - a beautiful surrounding and inventive twists on classic cocktails. It was a wonderful stay in a hotel where you can feel the history in its walls. We will definitely be back next time we are in NYC!

We had a very nice stay here. The hotel is full of history and a cast of characters that keep the conversations interesting in the lobby. Amy at the front desk was very helpful and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was a pleasant one. The only 2 issues were our door did not lock properly and even at checkout after 3 days it still had not been rectified. Each time we left the property we just hoped for the best. Our room was also adjacent to a long time tenant who apparently lives with a joint in their mouth. Our room smelled like we started smoking weed and that smell never left for 3 days. We laughed about it EVERY time we opened the door. This hotel has soo many things going for it that even with the door you could just push open, and half baked next door it still garners 4 stars from me.

Very much enjoyed the stay at the hotel! Great service and very much appreciated the amenities available such as yoga mats and foam rollers. I loved the art in the space, and the history of the building.

Stayed for a few nights this fall. Our room wasn't quite ready when we arrived but the staff upgraded us to an absolutely lovely room (I'm sure our original was lovely as well). Everything from the lobby, cafe, bar, and rooms were clean and styled with care. We had a few requests (steamer, room service, utensils, etc) and each time the staff was friendly and prompt. Such a great stay.

We've spent one one night the hotel Chelsea and it was wonderful. First we've been upgraded, but overall, the hotel has this thing about timeless experience. Everyone is nice, welcoming and very careful, there are at least 4 bars/restaurants in the hotel which each has a unique style, and wonderful timeless atmosphere. The room looked old and classy, but were super modern at the same time. I'll definitely go back because it was one of my favorite memories in New York! I couldn't recommend it more!

It’s a truly iconic place and has been wonderfully restored - we had a room in a higher floor with a balcony overlooking 23rd st. The room was really lovely, stylishly decorated with great amenities and bathroom - very comfortable bed and very quiet. The service in the hotel is great also, staff very friendly and helpful - reception is a little small but there is a lovely bar and lounge. Breakfast is not included, but the cafe Chelsea is really excellent with a great vibe and a good but limited all day menu - recommend the salad nicoise and the croque monsieur - but it is quite expensive - especially wine.

I wanted to share my experience at the Hotel Chelsea, where my wife and I recently stayed. The place came with a 4.8 out of 5 rating, so our expectations were quite high. But, to be honest, it didn't quite hit that mark. It was so disappointing that we actually-for the first time in our travel lives-checked out after one night and found a different hotel. To be clear, I like older hotels that feel new while allowing you to enjoy the nostalgia. This wasn't the case. The small room's lighting was the first thing that struck us. It was really dark, even with all the lights on and turned up to their max, which made the room feel more gloomy than cozy. The bathroom had its own set of issues - the overhead shower would flood the floor with water every time we used it, and we had to wait a few minutes each time for the water temperature to adjust. Noise was another problem. Sounds from the balcony (which isn't advertised as a shared balcony with several other rooms) and adjacent rooms were noticeable, disrupting our sleep. Considering the price we paid, which wasn't on the low side, this was disappointing. There are definitely more value-for-money options, especially if you're visiting as a tourist and looking for convenient access to popular attractions. On the bright side, some staff members, like Michael the porter and Tom from the upcoming spa, were exceptional - they really embody the warmth and hospitality you'd expect from a top-notch hotel. However, the service at the bar didn't match up. Our server there seemed uninterested, didn't seem to know how to smile, not once making us feel welcome. In summary, while the Hotel Chelsea has its charms, especially if you're drawn to historical hotels, it's not quite the 4.8-star experience it's touted to be. It's more like a three-star experience, in my opinion. If you're looking for better value and a more central location for sightseeing, you might want to consider other options.

This review goes to 11. Was fortunate to stay in a balcony room after patiently waiting for the renovations to be completed. The room was spectacular. The renovations, attention to detail, respect for the original structure and history were evident. Can't wait to return in December with my daughter and share the experience with her.

From the “Welcome to the Hotel Chelsea” to the “ Thank you so much for staying with us and come stay with us again soon”, our journey at the Hotel Chelsea was incredible. This hotel deserves the highest ratings given to a property. Tracy who checked us in gave us a complementary upgrade to an even more fabulous room than we had booked. We opened the door to our very spacious, meticulously clean , totally fashionable, and over the top luxurious room. From there, our stay continued to be 5 star. The lobby bar is a throwback to an era when cocktails were king and they have fully revived the experience. A Glamorous, exclusive feeling yet still totally welcoming. Climbing into bed we snuggled in our Italian linen sheets and woke up refreshed and ready to enjoy the grand marble bathroom . 4 nights of absolute bliss. I can’t recommend this hotel enough and look forward to our upcoming stay in November.

Best luxury-lifestyle hotel in NYC today and best bang for your buck - only luxury suite in NYC for <$1k. Stayed in the deluxe atelier suite with wife and 2 babies and thought the room was incredible. Staff and service are above and beyond. Iconic lobby bar, Chelsea Cafe and cocktail bar. Enjoyed the spa experience too - love they let me bring my toddler to the sauna. Overall A+ staycation! My only constructive criticism is I wish the hotel were more prominent on Google/Uber/Lyft and not hidden behind a 2-star Chelsea Savoy hotel which awkwardly features more prominently.

What a fantastic old hotel! Rich in character with an atmosphere that resonates with the essence of the many artists, musicians, and creatives who have graced her halls. The decor is a tasteful blend of historic and modern that shouldn't work, but it does. Beautifully. Our bartender was welcoming, knowledgeable, and on point with his recommendations. Definitely pop in for a drink if not to stay.

Stayed here October 2022 and absolutely loved the place. Such wonderful staff and obviously the history of the Hotel is incredible. Great position in Manhattan far enough away from times square etc but close enough. Right in the middle of uptown and downtown. Can't wait to go back. Visitors from Australia 🇦🇺
