I am completely baffled by the positive reviews for this hotel, which we relied on to make our reservation. I've tried to be as honest as possible about objective facts, such as fees and bed size. It's not just that we had a negative experience here; in the 24 hours we were there, people yelled at the front desk about their poor experience in terms of both room quality, amenities and fees AND the front desk staff member at check in told us openly that people consistently get very upset with him about the "resort" fees when they check out. I can only imagine that the people who left good reviews happened to have one of the few rooms at the hotel that don't look out at an air shaft or (as in our case) the many vents of the nearby buildings with restaurants in the back, which pump out food grease so powerfully that our room either smelled like fried meat (at night) or smoked bacon (in the morning). Or perhaps these people don't realize that, even in NYC, when other hotels say they will give you a queen bed they actually provide a real queen bed, not a double bed with miniature pillows (no joke, and this was in a deluxe queen room, not one of the "petite queen" rooms, which have what the front desk literally called a "modified queen"; that's like saying this is a "modified" good hotel). Maybe the reviewers think that it's unusual for NYC hotels to serve free coffee, tea, water and basic breakfast food (bread, apples and small yogurts), when most hotels in town, including the cheap chains, do this. Maybe people don't read their bill and notice that they're being overcharged for "resort" fees, which the person at check in told us were $25 PER PERSON per night. I was told by someone else later that the fees are "only" $25 per room. I was also told that the person who made the mistake wasn't a new employee, so one wonders how many people were double charged (or more, depending on how many people were in the room). Maybe they also left positive reviews? Speaking of misinformation about fees: the parking lot next door does not charge $30 per car per day, as the hotel told me. That's just for a small car. It charges $45 for regular cars. The hotel, by the way, also charges $100 for "incidentals". Because there is no mini-bar, spa, restaurant, etc, I asked what the incidentals were for. The man at the front desk pointed to a shelf with some mugs on it and said the hotel takes our money upfront just in case we want to buy any hotel-themed products. I later learned the hotel rooms have slippers and robes in them, so I suspect this fee is to charge people if they "accidentally" take these home (and I suspect that the robes and slippers are there to justify calling the additional fee a resort fee). People have noted in their reviews that although the hotel is small, shabby and old, the staff are friendly. While the staff are indeed nice, especially the people who oversee the snacks, the main person we dealt with at check in was completely incompetent (but he was really nice to us when he gave us the wrong information about the fees and our room). It's also refreshing that this hotel doesn't have the usual bland corporate theme - it's more 80's themed. We paid for a queen "deluxe" and instead we got a small, stinky, expensive double that had a terrible view. You may get lucky and get one of the better rooms (they must exist, based on the reviews) and be checked in by a staff member who has accurate information about hotel rooms and fees. Or you could pay less to go to one of the literally dozens of other hotels in the Times Square area that offers the same food, robes and slippers - and also has a gym and other real amenities - for less money and fewer hassles.

5 star service all around. Great location with immediate subway access. We love the lounge area for guests and the snacks! We also really enjoyed the traditional DVD free rental system for nights in. Cleaning service was great. Overall though, we were beyond impressed with the customer service. They certainly go above and beyond to make your stay great! 10/10 will stay again and highly recommend!

I’m not a review writer but this place deserves one. When I arrived in the city there was something going on and I was unable to get down the road to the hotel, cops wouldn’t let us by (after a very long drive) called the hotel and they immediately came down the road, chatted with cops and saved us. Everyone was so welcoming and nice. The room was a really good size (king size room). Everything was nice and clean. The guys at the front desk we’re always helpful, and gave great recommendations (not to mention very nice to look at 😊) The location is perfect, we went for theatre and our longest walk was 8 minutes. Rockefeller center and Central Park are 10-15 minute walk. Their little cafe has water and soda cans always stocked, wonderful coffee, and some awesome (healthier) snacks. Just perfect in every way! You won’t find a better place to stay in the city.

We check out of the Casablanca tomorrow and I don’t want to leave. The staff is top notch. They are always available for personalized service with a smile. If you’re looking for a hotel with history and charm, you’ll find it here at the Casablanca. The 2nd floor snack/coffee lounge was a lovely place to unwind after hours of exploring. The location is perfect if you want to be near Times Square. With all that the hotel has to offer, I can’t wait to return.

From the moment we walked into the Casablanca Hotel we were charmed. Brian checked us in and could not have been more friendly, welcoming and informative. We chose to end our upstate New York vacation with a night in Times Square, a few feet away from the hotel. We are very glad we did. Lovely CLEAN rooms, comfortable beds. We also received a complimentary bottle of wine for my brother's birthday and a small fridge, which I previously requested. Room is New York City small but not uncomfortably so. 2nd floor has as much free water, coffee, soda and snacks available all day. All the staff were WONDERFUL .They made our stay all the more special. Can't wait to return in the full. Thank you to the staff. We truly appreciate your hospitality. 🙂

This is a small hotel, maybe 6 floors, but their service is TOP NOTCH. I could not have asked for a nicer staff that was always ready to help. The room we had wasn't huge, but it was adequate for NY size rooms. The bathroom was large! The location is steps from 43rd & 7th & Broadway (Times Square) around the corner from Good Morning America. The subway station is about a block away, there are restaurants everywhere; next door, across the street and with a block or two. Would recommend this hotel. If you need anything just ask the staff and they will do their best to accommodate.

Staff was fantastic! Friendly and knowledgeable. Hotel is steps away from Times Square near the ball drop. Only a block to the subway station for a 25 min ride to Yankees stadium. The continental breakfast area is adorable as well as the outdoor patio. We sat out there daily and loved it. I really appreciated the bottled waters, coffee, sodas and snacks throughout the day too! I’d recommend this hotel and would absolutely stay here again. Rooms are exactly as advertised on their site. Ours had a window AC and ceiling fan so we were quite comfortable. Shower had plenty of hot water and water pressure. Even found slippers and robes! Only thing I felt like it is missing is a mini fridge.

Our second stay with Casablanca Hotel. Couldn’t ask for a better location for Broadway musicals. Hospitality is perfect. They staff is friendly, consistent, and just genuinely cool. Also a great location for hopping on the train and visiting other parts of the city. We cannot wait to come back again. Despite being right in Times Square the rooms are very quiet too!

Home away from home … We met our Texas 25 son and his fiancée in New York City for a Thanksgiving 3-day getaway and wanted to stay within easy access of the NYC tourist must see sites. Casablanca was the perfect spot. The hotel was a clean, charming boutique hotel. It was a quiet spot but located just off Times Square. Convenient to all theaters, restaurants, shopping and lovely Bryant Park. Can walk pretty much anywhere. Another great amenity is having a 24-hour spot at Rick’s Café / Library lounge where we could take a break and have a snack or read. However, the best part of the experience may have been the staff. Every single person was friendly and went out of their way to accommodate us. The people at the front desk were always very helpful and the manager went out of his way to make the Macy's parade a once in a lifetime experience for us all. Outstanding place to stay!

I booked this hotel after the reviews and I’m so glad I did. The customer service here is exceptional. The location is perfect and right next to Times Square. The room was small as expected for NYC but the bathroom was a decent size. The rooms have bathrobes and slippers which is a nice touch. Our room 407 was quiet as was the hotel. There’s a 24 hour “cafe” with free drinks, coffee and snacks and a seating area which is nice. They also put drinking water in your room for you which is a nice touch. I can’t say enough about the staff. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. They also have a bellman at the door to help with bags and we always felt safe. It being a smaller hotel we never had to wait for the elevator. The only thing that I would maybe take 1/2 a star for was the heating. Our room was cold at first as our furnace was taking a while to kick in. They sent someone to our room to check it out and not to long after the heat kicked on. We really loved this hotel and will definitely stay again. Thank you to all the staff for a great stay! Highly Recommend.

Repeat visitor and the service is always exceptional. I cannot say enough good things about the staff. Convenient location in midtown next to a subway station. They used to have a wine and cheese afternoon which I hope comes back! But in the meantime they have 24/7 chips/fruit and water/coffee. Very clean and beautiful decor.

Very Very nice hotel. Very clean and stylish. The rooms are little small but it's an old hotel. The rooms though are out standing, also very clean and comfy. The hotel also has that old charm and look of the Bogart movie Casablanca itself. The staff is also very friendly, extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They go above and beyond to help you and make you feel at home. We will without a doubt definitely be going back. Had a wonderful stay. Great spot too.

We just got back from 3 day stay at the Casablanca. It was great! Great location, just a quick walk to several theaters if you’re there to see shows. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. We really liked the snacks and drinks available all day, and the breakfast was enough to start the day. Room was quiet and just as in the pictures. 100% Would recommend!

My wife, daughter and I spent two nights here last week because it showed up in a map search as highly rated and right around the corner from the theatre where we were seeing a show. We couldn't have been more pleased with everything about the hotel, from the universally friendly staff to the beautiful rooms to the second-floor lounge with all-day snacks to the quiet despite the noisy neighborhood. To top it off, the price was very reasonable for New York City. We will definitely be back! Highly recommended.

This is an absolutely beautiful hotel and is in a great location for Times Square. The rooms are spacious and air conditioned. We had a suite and a standard room. The suite was spacious and contained everything you would expect - sofa, wardrobe, double beds. There are irons and safes in each room too. The staff are exemplary - from the front desk to the restaurant. All guests can have a continental breakfast which composes of cereals, bagels, fruits, pastries, hot and cold drinks. Maria who runs breakfast is always on hand for every request and is always so cheerful. There is no bar as such but there is a door in the lobby that takes you through into Tony's bar and restaurant and you can bring drinks back to the room. Outside of breakfast times the lounge area is filled with hot and cold drinks, snacks and tasty treats to keep you going. Ice is available on request and the rooms don't have a refrigerator but that is the only thing I could put as a negative. Really enjoyed the whole experience and bags can be left until pick up. Check out time is midday which allows you extra time in the morning to relax. The cleaning staff do so well with rooms and public areas as everything is immaculate.

Amazing hotel— we work in tourism and stay in a lot of hotels! This hotel lives up to its owner’s desire to provide authentic kindness to its guests. The story of the hotel and its sister hotels, and the story of the owner is great. Staff from managers to kitchen/breakfast staff were amazingly nice and truly try to help any way they can. We arrived at 11:30 and my son was hungry- the breakfast people were finishing cleanup after breakfast but offered him a yogurt even if it was not one of the snacks they have out available all day for guests (which is already an amazing thing- free snacks and drinks all day long in the lounge, so so welcome and nice). We were there in a stormy situation and wanted to see the Statue of Liberty but ferries were a bit delayed due to weather. We also had wet shoes and clothes from the previous day, so asked if a late check out was possible. They checked to see if the room was needed and since it was not they gave us a generous late check out. The amenities like slippers and bathrobes and just the access to the lounge are so welcome that we will staying here again but especially checking out the sister hotels for any future travels. And the location is to die for as it is a few steps from Times Square. And therefore close to all major transportation hubs!!!! Thank you!!

We came to NYC for the first time last week and this hotel exceeded all of our expectations. The hospitality the entire staff shows in beyond compare. The free snacks/coffee/tea/water offered 24/7 was very welcome surprise. Do not expect huge rooms with a resort corporate feel, rather what I imagine is an authentic NYC experience. Amazing. The hotel is steps away from time square, but surprisingly quiet and cozy at all hours. Will be the only hotel we choose when we return. THANK YOU!

An absolutely perfect stay in New York City. We have stayed in New York on many occasions and this hotel was just perfect. The location cannot be beaten, the staff were all charming and very helpful and the suite we were in was very good. Rick’s cafe - included in the resort fee - had an excellent continental breakfast and a good choice of drinks and snacks throughout the day.

The attention to detail and amenities are great here. The rooms are smaller than a “normal” 5 star hotel however the impeccable service and location far outweighs the slightly dated facade. If you’re looking for a large brand name, room service and spa options experience this hotel will not be for you. If you’re looking for a front desk staff that gives amazing meal recommendations, a breakfast and snack crew that anticipate needs and know your order by the fourth day, and a cleaning staff that leave the rooms brilliantly clean, you will be very happy here. We were never more than 5 minute walk from any of the theaters where we went to see musicals. We didn’t have any issues with city noise or lights when trying to rest. Casablanca is aptly named. The decor is outdated, the elevators tiny and it all feels appropriate!

My boyfriend and I stayed here on our first vacation together and neither of us were disappointed. While the hotel is quite old, I was still surprised it wasn't busier. It was quiet and relaxing - as quiet as New York can be. This cute little hotel is tucked away and only a 2 minute walk from Times Square. There's a conveniently located parking lot right next door for those driving in from out of state. The room was clean and tidy. The fridge was stocked with complimentary water and there were snacks and breakfast available everyday. Wonderful experience. I'd definitely stay here again. Thank you for making our first vacation enjoyable and memorable! 😊

The hotel was very nice great location. The staff was terrific. James and Jeff were the best anything we ask for and a lot we didn't even ask for was in our room asap. Our family had a great experience here and would only stay while in NYC.

“Please consider this your home,” is not a slogan, but a sincerely held mindset of all the employees and management of the Casablanca Hotel. We had the pleasure to have discovered this beautifully designed and meticulously decorated boutique hotel in the heart of Times Square this January 2023. Within walking distance to numerous theaters, restaurants, and attractions, Casablanca Hotel is expertly managed and staffed. Here hospitality, genuine cordiality, and a sincere interest in making their guests’ stay unique, comfortable, and memorable is the prime directive. Every employee made us feel welcomed and they exceeded our expectations. Casablanca offers an oasis that provides comfortable rooms, a second floor cafe, an outdoor patio, and a lounge where guests can meet one another and share life stories and travel experiences or find a comfortable couch to read and reflect by their fireplace. Finally, we found a hotel where a friendly staff makes you feel at home.

Had a great time during our stay. Location unbeatable for an NY tourist. The cafe on level 2 is fantastic - help yourself to drinks and snacks 24/7 (all included). Plenty of places to sit and relax and play a game or read one of the many books. Staff were always smiling and happy to help or have a chat.

Wonderful service. The location was fantastic. The front of the house staff were ALL AMAZING!! They had coffee, tea, espresso every time I went to the second floor lounge. Breakfast was good—had enough options to accommodate a gluten I tolerance. The rooms were clean and comfortable. This was my first time staying at this hotel. I would gladly stay there again.

This was my first time in NYC. What a perfect hotel location wise to everything! The staff is friendly, welcoming, and very accommodating, we were always greeted with a smile and was always offered assistance if needed! We had dry cleaning done and it was ready same day, we enjoyed the breakfast on the second floor, and we had a great time next door at Tony's Restaurant- great recommendation! Would definitely recommend a stay here, you are very close to everything! Thank you for a great stay, we appreciate the wonderful hospitality!

We loved this place from the moment we entered their doors until our holiday finished. All the staff are exceptional, so friendly welcoming and professional. They made our first time coming to New York such an amazing experience and we thank you with all our heart for that. Casablanca hotel has everything you want and need to be a stones throw away from Times Square yet quiet peaceful & relaxed once in the hotel. It’s not like a big modern hotel it’s quaint full of character clean and very comfortable. Thank you to everyone that made my 60th birthday so very special, memories that will be with me forever. You all work extremely hard & are so committed to of made it special Love Michele & Barry of the Uk

Stellar customer service. Probably best I've ever had at a hotel. The door was opened for us by a sweet and courteous doorman. Snacks of cliff bars, cucumber water, coffee, tea available in super cute snack/rest area on second floor. Some tapping noises in the morning from ceiling, however wasn't too bad. Would definitely visit again!!
