This isn't a 4-star hotel. I mean it is fine and the rooms are decent but certainly shouldn't be rated as a 4-star class hotel. They market themselves as "different" by making the amenities more "DIY" - which we knew going in and we were fine with - but you'd expect a higher level of service in this price range. The staff was friendly. The shower was amazing (but water gets everywhere because there is no shower door and the divider isn't large enough to prevent water spraying onto the floor of the bathroom. Overall it is a nice hotel in a good location but lacks the luxury of other hotels in this price range.

Highly recommend staying at this hotel!! I had such an amazing experience here and will be staying again in the future. The hotel itself is beautiful and has an amazing location, walking distance to central park, the MOMA, so many amazing restaurants and more. Our room was spacious, clean and had everything we possibly could've needed. The service at this hotel was an 11/10. Super kind, allowed us to check in our bags early before our check in time, I asked for extra towels and received them to my room within minutes, and they were super helpful and accommodating when I requested for late checkout. Overall they want to help and make your experience the best which was really amazing. Will be staying here many times in the future!

Great location, Clean and Nice. Super Value! We loved the fact that it had a mezzanine level where you could go and work and get away from the room. The location was awesome! Friendly staff. Water pressure was fantastic in the showers! We really felt like it was going to be a bargain hotel and then when we got there, it was so much better than we expected. There was plenty of staff and housekeeping at your option. Nice property. We stayed a week. Lots of nearby coffee shops, restaurants and grocery shopping. Very good value!

What an exceptional experience. I felt so well looked after , and after 5 days it felt like a home in another city ! I would certainly stay again if I had the opportunity. The people who work at the Sonder are next level wonderful ! The location was safe , close to everything , and the mezzanine area was a treat . Many blessings

A very clean and spacious room. The price I paid was certainly worth it. Great location in the heart of the city. The service the Front Desk staff provided was phenomenal. Natacha, Edwin and Stephany were all very friendly and attentive. Also worth noting is the very capable Housekeeping staff, particularly Dorina and Romeo. Excellent service all around including the dinner we enjoyed at Felice next door, a fine Italian restaurant. The food and drinks, simply outstanding. My family and I will be returning in August.

Prime location of NYC, luxury hotel style, it is definitely recommended for business trip or short term trip. 5th Ave is right beside, plenty of amazing shops and restaurants, and Central Park! it is definitely the signature of NYC. Downside: expensive, can’t feel the vide of locals. No kitchen, scheduled laundry is available but timing is quite flexible, pick up at night, send back after 24 hours. Overall: not recommended for long-term stay; Good for short-term stay and enjoy the signature of NYC. Definitely recommended for first-time NYC visitor, and also business people.

4 night stay. It's a very nice place with great service. Everything is contactless so if you would like your romm cleaned or something you need to contact them and for me that's no problem. Amenities are good, you go and picked them as you need it, all you can need. Everything was clean and nicely arranged. Close to whatever you came to see in Manhattan, Central Park, museums, shops all. Nice restaurant on premises with good food and fast service. Only kind of complaint was the bed, it was firm, very firm. I liked it but my GF didn't, but we slept well. Also bathroom looks very outdated and no esthetically good, that need some improvement. I will defently stay there again and recommend it to anyone. Thank you.

my go-to for my NYC business travel. If you want to be catered to, this is not for you. Edit review 8:19….night time manager is amazing…. Definitely cares about the hotel guests as I was shown extra attention. Much appreciate. Self-service model, which is my preferred choice at all times. Super comfortable and clean rooms. Has everything you need.

Location was right in the heart of midtown. Great restaurants and bars within walking distance. Room was clean and big enough for us to have a little space to move around. Pillows were great (I'm picky about my pillows). Amenities and water on the Mezzanine were great too. Staff was friendly and helpful. The app was super handy.

I highly recommend Sonders Chambers as a place to stay in NYC. The building is really nice and the rooms are comfortable. I stayed here via an ABB booking and I had 0 issues with checking in. The staff in incredible and can't express how grateful we were. Ed and Kevin are amazing. They took care of us the whole time. We had a warm room due to the seasonal changeover and it happened to happen the day it was almost 70 degrees outside. The AC wouldn't cool lower than 74 so they provided us with a huge fan to keep the room cool and it made the stay even better. Ed and Kevin are on top of their game and were willing to help with anything. I left my luggage for a few hours while we waited for check in and when we got back Ed offered to bring all of our stuff up and introduce us to the room. Amazing customer service. I have saved this location for whenever I visit next. The only "con" we had was the shower. The half wall allowed the water to leak into the main bathroom and get rather wet but that was of no concern. A few towels on the ground and it was solid. I also recommend rolling up a towel and placing it at the entrance of the bathroom as the tiny step up can be a toe cruncher. You learn quick to lift your feet a little higher when entering. None of these issues will deter us from staying there again and we look forward to the next visit. Thank you Ed, Kevin, and Sonders.

Superb location in midtown! Close to key tourist spots and right next to 5th avenue. Staffs are extremely kind and willing to help anyway they can. The hot showers are great and room configuration is excellent with smart way of utilizing the space for multi-usages. My husband and I had a great time staying here overall. We are totally willing to comimg back next time as well.

This hotel is in a great location right beneath Central Park. It’s quite close to a few metro stations as well. The staff was very kind and helpful with anything we needed. There is no cleaning service here, which honestly was not a big deal. The rooms are well sized, and very quiet, especially for a manhattan hotel. My only complaint was the lack of shower door caused water to get onto the bathroom floor, but everything else was great.

We stayed here for four nights in September 2013. The location can't be beat, and the hotel itself is a small, peaceful haven. Although it has no frills (e.g., cleaning is optional and costs extra), the entire hotel staff (maintenance and front desk) was invariably friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious and comfortable.

Nice room in a location that is convenient to Central Park, the subway, and many stores. Quiet and good for sleeping. The shower was notable - pours over you like a strong waterfall. I’ve never had so much water. Wish they had ice and a microwave but it was good overall.

What a fantastic experience! It was worth upgrading to the suite! We had 600 square feet of luxury just off 5th Ave at 56th St. Huge living room and separate bedroom and the biggest bathroom and the most powerful shower I’ve ever had. Quality sheets and towels. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. Plus there is brilliant deli next door from which you can buy the most delicious breakfast - plus anything you could want. This was like staying in a private apartment without any of the hassle. We will return.

Excellent location, walking distance to pretty much everything and metro at the end of the street. Had all the essentials, amazing shower, streaming tv, lock code on door, filtered water stations with metal bottles.

Super friendly staff- clean and simple accommodations with everything one needs. Great linens, towels, shower (!), 2 lobby seating areas for relaxing. Location was perfect for us with plenty of bars, restaurants and subways nearby. We also loved the warm service and great cocktails, Capps, dessert next door at Felice. We’ll be back!

Great hotel! There’s a food market that has pretty good food options a few doors down (sushi, pizza, pasta, açaí bowls). Right around the corner from staple Manhattan landmarks. Responsive on the Sonder app, which has a built-in mobile lock to get into the front door and your room. No complaints! Will stay here again if in the area!

This was a wonderful experience. The hotel is close to central park as well as close to time square. It was cute and easily accessible. The service was lovely and they were very kind. The showers were very relaxing. I'd recommend this to my friends and family. It was clean and unique. It certainly had its own charm.

We stayed for six nights and were happy with everything. The location was great - a short walk to both Central Park & Rockefeller Center, and a comfortable walk to the theater district. Our room was quiet and, for New York, spacious. The staff was friendly and helpful. The adjoining restaurant, Felice, was wonderful. Oh - the shower was the awesome!

We came for a last-minute visit to NYC and this Sonder did not disappoint!  Jordan and Jose made our check-in so easy and fun, welcoming us with kindness and excitement!    The view  from our room on floor 15 was fantastic and the room was very clean and comfortable. Pros: Free water in the mezzanine lounge and provided bottles to reduce waste. Large tub and rain shower with plenty of hot water!  Quiet street, not very noisy at all.  The restaurant next door - Felice 56 - is a MUST VISIT! Cons: The bed seems to be past its useful life, with clear dents on either side and a hump in the middle - not super soft, but the tub helped with the soreness each morning.

The hotel was super clean and beautiful! The staff was very friendly. Loved having a great restaurant and bar on site, except the cafe didn’t open until 11am and so I was disappointed I couldn’t get my coffee in lobby. And you can’t check in early without a charge, which I didn’t like. But overall, it was lovely and I’d recommend!

From the moment we arrived, everything was incredible. Jordan at the front desk was so friendly and checked us in early which was really helpful! The rooms were comfortable and close to everything we needed. If you stay here, eat at the Greek restaurant down the street. Best in meal we had the entire weekend!

I travel to NY a good amount for work and always find hotels with tiny rooms where I’m bumping into everything with a view of a wall outside my window. The Chambers hotel was the total opposite. It was very spacious and I actually had a view of the street and buildings. Also, the shower and water pressure was fantastic, it felt like I was under a waterfall. One downside, no microwave.

Super friendly staff, which is hard to come by in NYC. Great central location and Rooms were clean and spacious compared to most boutique hotels in the city. But it was really the hospitality of the staff that made us love our stay here.

Lovely hotel tucked away near 5th Avenue. Centrally located from all major shopping places, tourist attractions as Central Park, Bryant Park, Times Square. Excellent service, very very polite, attentive, helpful, courteous staff. Good rooms, well equipped with all modern amenities. Definitely recommended and would stay again if in NYC.

The Sonder Chambers is very beautiful, comfortable - and never pretentious. We stayed at this hotel for 8 nights and enjoyed everything, right down to the details. The building is elegant, discreet (on a quite unremarkable street though) and close to Central Park. The interior design is very beautiful, with a chic and practical two-storey lobby; and original and delicate artworks. Rooms are large, clean and comfortable. The pillows have no feathers hence are ideal for people with allergies like me. The shower works perfectly, with Davines products (an organic brand I use for my hair… here in NYC!?!). What else? The staff are friendly and seem to enjoy their workplace. And we could order an excellent espresso or a matcha latte with oat milk at breakfast or at 9pm, at the Felice restaurant. And all this at a very reasonable price (we booked the room via the Sonder App), which is… quite extraordinary ✨

I stayed here while visiting family. Everything about this hotel is minimalist, in the most positive way. Check-in is remote (you get a check-in code via the website). There is a small gym and a self-service "essentials" closet in the beautifully decorated mezzanine level. The rooms are simply designed: they include a small fridge, a small desk and a TV. The shower is a real treat. There's an adjacent restaurant that's run as a separate business, so there's no room service. ‐------ THE LOCATION is incredible: it is a short walking distance from so many attractions: Fifth Ave., Rockefeller Center, Central Park, Times Square, plenty of restaurants and so much more. Surprisingly, it is very quiet for such a central location. I my opinion, this is a great value!!!

Would 100% stay here again - everything was fantastic. The check in process is easy and convenient if you are comfortable using smartphone technology (everything can be found through the Sonder app) and we loved the added security with code entry at night. There is still staff at this location and every single person we encountered was friendly and helpful! The rooms are large for NYC. I would say they are about the standard size of hotel rooms in other cities (which is not typical for New York). LOVE the refillable water bottle that they give you, so eco-friendly and the water refill station gives you super cold water. The price is very comparable to other hotels in the city - not outrageous and definitely worth it. The location is amazing - you are 5 mins from central park and about a 10 min walk from times square. You are away from the main streets enough that it is peaceful and quiet in the room at night. We can't wait to come back!!

Spent 4 nights here with our 2.5 year old. Loved the location and the whole hotel set up! It was great having the second floor mezzanine area to relax and eat in-a cozy library vibe. It was effortless going to the room since we didn’t have to navigate a large lobby. Loved the straightforward, easy check in. It was nice to not have to interact with staff unless we needed something. Would stay in a Sonder hotel again!

Very friendly staff and very good location near central park. We stayed in 1 bedroom apartment (2 adults + 2 children 16 & 18 year) – bed very good / sofa bed not very comfortable for adults Very good shower. Limited storage space for clothes. Recommended to explore the NY city

The lobby is quiet and cozy. The reception staff are very helpful from storing luggage, providing additional towels, easy check in and check out. The room was spacious and quiet with minimal outside noise and nothing overhead. The location can’t be beat with delicious restaurants near by, subway close to get anywhere need to be. Definitely will recommend to others and stay again on next trip to NYC.

Great location, the rooms are comfortable, they have all the amenities you would normally need, the hotel has a nice design. Upon arrival you are told that there are some metal water bottles in your room which you can refill in the Mezzanine floor. That was amazing, we always filled the bottles before we left sightseeing and never had to buy plastic bottles, big plus for that idea!!. Would definitely repeat the hotel when returning to NY.

Great hotel and convenient to all the major things we were trying to accomplish in our trip. Staff was super friendly and while the rooms are on the small side the mezzanine level serves as an extra comfortable space to relax or read or have a meal. Would def stay here again. Great for couples or family with one older child.
