They close at 5pm. I stood there while a female rep spoke to someone on the phone for a couple of minutes. No name tag otherwise I would provide the name. With five minutes to go I was told “we are closed” while refusing to accept a payment from me. I had to laugh out loud. I was so shocked to hear this statement then denied service. The rep saw me standing there waiting for her call to end. It was not 5pm yet. Customer care/member service is unimportant to the staff At this location. Last month I came in to make a payment as well and when another member walked in after I had been waiting in line they proceeded to the counter receiving service right away. Two employees at the desk and none corrected her for not observing the line. No courtesy! A few weeks ago I asked a young man at the front desk for details on the “Lights Out” Zumba class and his response was “it’s just what it sounds like, Lights out!” If he could not elaborate in response to my question the correct thing to do would have been to direct me to the appropriate person. Also, child watch is inadequate. One room for all ages. Two people on duty. Over the summer infants had to be held because there was not a mat space for them to play. Older children sat in rows of seats. Very odd arrangement. The best part of this location is the gym. New and well maintained.! The personal trainer/coach Yanni is very kind and patient. I was not in a training session but I needed some guidance with some of the machines. Yanni explained the correct way to position yourself, lift and asked about goals. He took his time, very polite.

I went to this place one time. They didnt have the equipment i needed so i never went back. That was seven months ago. They have been charging my account ever since! Ive called and reached out to them, and they say i can only cancel my membership in person. I live an hour away from this place, and work 7 days a week, so i cant just swing by casually. At this point i paid hundreds of dollars for a gym i went to one time. Ive been a member at many YMCAs never had an experience this bad. Robbery!

Eliz YMCA 135 Madison Ave is prejudice. 1 must be in the director's click or brown noise her and her chosen few. Those, Director nor chosen, listen to opposing statements. Tv isn't shared. Some people pay to live there for life don't mess with them. Most people are seeking shelter trying to do the right thing. Some work to buy drugs lie and create problems for honest hearted ones. They will not hesitate to put pregnant females with children out with no place to go when their monies run out. It's not absolutely NOT NON- PROFIT!!

The crowd their is not the most “nice” per se, but the employee normally act as a balancing act with their kind, positive, and respectful manner. In the days before COVID, whoever allowed these soccer players to rent the large open gym area, need to tell them that people will walk out onto the court to leave the YMCA. I did so, walking outside of their soccer area, and they harassed me and my younger siblings. This is not community friendly, would you say?

This facility is beautiful and renovated with abundant space and equipment, as well as child watch and programs for the entire family. I enjoy visiting knowing that I am supporting an organization that strengthens our community.

Not even 24 hours later, a housing director and senior director talks to me today and now I have to leave for when they tell me to open up about my problem. Instead of addressing, the harassment even about how I can't be on my room and have peace cause everything I say or do in my own privacy is being talked about. They wanted to put the worker in the room with me and try to twisted it around and say if they can't say in the neighboring room as if they don't have no more space, then I need to get out. Meanwhile the other person who also in on it have an extra room open and they wouldn't put them together. Once again young women be mindful. Only been here for three months and for two months everyday been taking it and now being an example.

I honestly don’t recommend anyone to go to YMCA. I was going to Rahway facility to use the pool and I found the water a little cold in many occasions. I was waiting to see if this was fixed, but it wasn’t. They mention a temperature pool in their website, but they don’t keep it at that temperature. I also notified the staff members about this, but I didn’t see a change. That’s why I decided to cancel my membership at that moment. So one day i called and I was directed to the YMCA director Leonardo from Elizabeth facility to cancel my membership, and it was not easy to speak with him. He was unprofessional. He told me that I would need to come to the facility to sign a paper and that I would be charged an extra month. I asked him, “how can you charge me an extra month if I am not happy with the service at YMCA??? I don’t want to come back.” His answer was “ I am sorry that’s the rule.” I was hoping he would understand my situation and let me cancel my membership. I felt I was forced to pay an extra month for a service I didn’t like. Can you guys believe it?? Unprofessional customer service.

Last year I went here for a afterschool program called BFL an it was very fun. The staff are friendly but they get annoyed if you don't have an ID.

YMCA -Elizabeth - Excellent daycare and teachers. Lisa, the director is great to work with. The entire staff is very friendly and helpful. My niece arrives every morning with a smile on her face and happy to see her teachers. We have seen an amazing growth with her learning and general behavior. I highly recommend the Elizabeth location.

The building is always clean and orderly, workers have been efficient to correct rooms details and check on your well being. However, fare warning to young women even with children who comes here if you have a problem within the building, they would use connections for welfare, job centers and housing against you and slow down your process. If you are not close to certain staff and they are close to certain clients especially those who don't like people with immigrant decent, you will be treated indifferent when trivial things arise. It's your word against theirs even if you keep to yourself. They have old staff members coming and going and they can talk to you in any manners because they feel entitled. It's disappointing and unjust coming from a person who believes everyone should be treated with equal value. In addition, they would use dhs to follow you if they feel like you are not a fit parent when they talk to you.

I like the gym but I can't get in until 9 o'clock and there isn't enough day to go. It would be great if at least I could get in at 8. The place is quiet but the hours are not ideal.
