Charming old school Irish pub in Queens with a great overall vibe and live music on the evening I went. They’re also known for their burgers. I had an excellent classic style meaty bacon cheeseburger (they have about 12 topping options!) that was very reasonably priced. I went 50-50 on fries and onion rings and I’m so glad I did! The fries were ok, but the onion rings were amazing, some of the best I’ve had - so light airy and crispy.

Stopped here on Sunday evening for two burgers. Both extremely bland and needed seasoning. Homemade sweet potato was the best part of the meal. Being sat in between the out of order toilet and the table right next to us just had a large dish tray collecting water for our meal wasn’t the most appetizing setting.

Best burgers in Queens. And I will die on this hill. We came on game night so it was packed but I’m pretty sure it gets packed any other day because the food, drink, and staff is a triple threat of awesomeness! I had the steak this particular night and it was enormous and so so good!! I had the steak black and blue, which means extra rare, and even my friend who never eats it’s rare was amazed at how good it was! We had a lovely waitress that was apologizing profusely for the wait time which I thought was very considerate! Loved it, will be back to try the rest of their extensive burger menu!

Traditional Irish pub, with the best shepherd's pie in town. Their burgers and a pint are always a winning combo but my favorite pastime is sitting at the bar & chopping it up with the bartender and other patrons. The ambience is reminiscent of the rolling lush hills of Ireland and the taverns that inhabit them.

Nice Irish pub, but unfortunately overrated. Bad service if you try to sit upfront to eat. Burger is OK, but not sure why it has the hype - meat is good and well cooked, but they need to let the patty sit before putting it on the bun so the bottom half isn't soggily non-existent by the time you get it (huge pet peeve of mine, it's literally burger 101 - serve the bun on the side if you can't wait 2 minutes to let the juice settle).

Had one of their burgers. One of the best I've ever had (only Peter Luger's has a better burger IMO). The decor is nice also. Not many places these days have an actual fireplace inside.

Nothing to brag about. The service at the bar was excellent. The onion rings also excellent. It was kinda hot and stuffy inside. A patron at the bar suggested AC and the bartender was kind enough to close the door and put on the AC. I ordered a H Factor whatever that means. It was a blue cheese burger. I requested a medium rare, part of my burger was the the other part was medium. Bleu cheese could have been sharper. I ordered 2 Stella pints, they were not cold close to room temperature. I did not complain. I was tired and extremely hungry and thirsty. It’s a dated bar which is nice thst they keep it that wAy . You can eat at the bar or in the back area. Very clean and service was quick. Oops I did it again And Again , NOTHING TO BRAG ABOUT- the next day . Ordered the medium rare H factor - this time I got a medium to Well done and the blue cheese you need something way sharper. This time two Pina Colada they were good. I had the fries not impressed. But the Barmaid was EXCELLENT.

Went for a quick Sunday brunch. Haven't been to this place since I was in High School. Nothing changed but what a great Irish pub vibe. Will return for their live music one of these evenings. Place was packed, loved the atmosphere and food was good and plentiful.

Fantastic place to eat, drink or have a fun night out with your family. The hamburgers and shepherds pie are best in the city. The staff are Fast with the orders and are extremely friendly and professional. I recommend Donovan's to anyone visiting the city who wants to experience life in an Irish pub without actually going to Ireland.

Great place to dine with friends. Good drink prices and food. Good wait service. We were given a private room for the retirement party. It was great, our waitress was fantastic, stopped in to see if we needed anything, but wasn't annoying or bothering us often. Yes, I recommend Donovan's Pub Roosevelt Ave & 58 st. Astoria NY. Go you won't be disappointed. Joe C.

Went to this gem Thurs for my sister's bday!!! She has been coming here for decades w my dad , our old church is across the street. When we were young , same day, she got her communion and I was baptized. Lovely memories.... Now about Donovan's lol -- outstanding food and service. The busser was on top of his game and very nice 🙂 Our sweet LeAnn or Leanne was spectacular! Thank you Jimmy or the other friend for the round of drinks! The bartender Chris or Cris was so much fun. The food omg , we had baked clams, crab cake, the platter for apps then I had the filet of sole ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 5 stars , thank you! I'll be back again soon

I discovered this place through someone giving a list of recommendations on TikTok, and I was craving burgers that day so I went to check it out. It’s very close to the 7-train station. The place wasn’t packed when I got there so I had a table immediately. They had many options but this I went with a medium-well Sebastian burger with wedgie fries. While I was waiting, I had a draft Harp Lager, very refreshing. I felt so full afterwards but I don’t regret it. It was so good. The fries seemed fresh cut and fried. I will definitely go back to try the other burgers. I arrived around 7pm on a Thursday night and it had a good ratio of persons to empty space. What I mean is that it had a lively ambience of a pub but felt cozy at the same time. The TV was playing a NY Rangers game, the tables had candles and the lights were dim. The dinner guests spectrum was very wide. There were families, group of guys, group of girls and even what seemed to be a date. This time I came alone to try it out but would like to watch some sport in this authentic Irish pub in Queens.

I've already posted a review on Facebook, but I wanted to support Donovan's here as well. A friend living in Woodside recommended that I stop by for a burger. So I went in, had the Jack's burger (with jalapeno, cheese- fantastic), time begin to stretch, and I found myself in love with the place by last call. Very warm clientele and bartenders, and the cozy interior does wonders on a cold day. Thanks for letting me celebrate my birthday at your pub and allowing me to get to know you. I hope to return to NYC soon, and, when I do so, I'll swing by again. Until then! :) All the best, Chris from Virginia

As a born and raised female from Sunnyside/Woodside, I used to come here all the time years ago. The burgers are not the same. Way more greasy. Not happy with my last few visits at all.

Love this neighborhood pub. Donovan's is so much a part of the neighborhood, that when it was in danger of closing, two local guys saved it. The food is good and so are the drinks. The vibe is friendly and laid back. Fridays and Saturdays they have life music. The prices are reasonable. The space is big and the back includes a fireplace. The windows are stained glass. It is truly a beautiful pub. The service is fast and good and the bartenders are friendly. It is also a place where you can hang with friends, alone and/or with family and feel equally comfortable in each situation. This is sure to be a neighborhood staple for years to come.

One of the best pubs I have ever been to. Visited a couple of times one weekend in June 2023. Fantastic food, drinks and atmosphere. Lovely locals and brilliant music on Saturday 10 June. A special mention though must go to Chris the bartender - what a perfect human being. We loved him and only wish we didn't live over 3000 miles away! Chris take care of yourself until we meet again - you're a legend. All our love Penny, Martin and Jim from England.

Depending on the server you get, the service can be great to terrible. The burgers are pretty good, but the fries, yuck. I know the servers I like and request them, otherwise I know they'll stick me with someone who'll forget we exist. Ever tried to get a server's attention, and they make eye contact with you and completely ignore you? Yup, that will happen here if seated with the wrong server. I gave it 4 stars simply for the burger, and the sweet old host with the Irish accent. He reminds me of my grandpa :) otherwise it would be closer to three stars than four.

This pub was an excellent gastronomic adventure. The music was bumping and the burger was just plain awesome. Very family-friendly. And they got their rock on. The hostess and the servers were very gracious and excellent and were very prompt. All in all recommend fully if you're in Woodside stop by Donovan's 🍻

I’m an Irish kid born and raised in NYC my father would take me here every other weekend to eat. And I couldn’t be happier on those days just like I’m happy when I go there now for a wonderful Wyoming burger with steak cut fries. This place has and old school Irish vibe that stands the test of time. The best part is now I can go to the bar and wash my burger down with a nice cold one haha. But seriously this place is Legendary with live music on the weekends and wonderful service you can’t go wrong. I believe this pub also had an award winning burger at one time. Trust me you’ll have a great time

I had a great time at Donovan's Pub, a cozy and authentic Irish pub in Queens. The chicken pot pie was delicious, with a flaky crust and a creamy filling. The portion was generous and satisfying. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The staff was attentive and courteous, and they made me feel welcome. I highly recommend Donovan's Pub for anyone who appreciates a traditional Irish pub with great food and service.

Cute hidden gem in Queens where you can get good pub fare, a pint , and also hear some live music on Saturday night. We had the fish and chips which I recommend. Dee lish. Golden Crisp exterior and flakey light fish inside. Also had the filet of sole.

We chose the perfect time. Fire was crackling in the fire place, two other people in the dining room. No sound from the TV. Food came fast enough that we did not feel rushed. Excellent. Donovan's is always good.

Timeless Irish Pub with great Irish music, tasty drinks and food! We were treated to an impromptu pipes and drum performance after the local St. Patrick's day parade!

  • 3/5 Devindra S. 6 months ago on Google
Decided to try the burger here after seeing all the glowing reviews about it being the best burger in Queens - unfortunately, this was not my experience. While the burger was cooked perfectly to my liking (asked for medium and it came out juicy and a bit pink), the roughly .5 pound patty badly needs seasoning - salt, pepper, and garlic powder would go a long way. All in all, it was a fairly standard fare burger cooked properly, which I understand is exactly what some people look for in their burgers. For me personally, a patty this size needs a bit more "oomph" in the form of seasoning. We also got the jalapeño bites, which have American cheese (weird). Onion rings were way over-battered as well and the sweet potato fries were very plain.

I've been here twice now and have had a great experience both times. Food is well prepared; service is excellent and I love the atmosphere. One night I was there when they featured live music. It was just one guy with an acoustic guitar, but he was excellent!

We ordered their soup of the day: lentil soup and the Jacks burger which came with potato wedges. We asked for a medium cook on the burger and it came on point. The burger was juicy, with a touch of spice and was absolutely delicious 😋🤤 the soup and the wedges were great too. We started wishing if this place was near where we live... 😅 The bathroom was clean and fresh smelling. The environment inside the restaurant was truly family friendly just like they claimed 🙂 A definite come back ☺️

I have passed this pub many times and always assumed it was a small place. But when you go inside, beyond just the bar at the front, they have so many rooms for groups with more people. We were actually able to get a whole room to ourselves and it was so huge! When ordering, I got the 58 special burger which tasted incredible with the mushrooms. On the side, I was able to get French fries.
