I have never written a negative review before, but the incident I encountered at this establishment last night was by far the most unpleasant experience I have ever had. Upon entering the billiards area, I was approached by the manager, who was playing pool at the time, and he asked me in a rather curt manner, "What are you doing over here?" I explained that I was simply exploring the premises as it was my first visit. He responded with a cautionary remark, advising me to be careful while walking in that area. I found his comment odd but chose to ignore it. Later, I reserved two pool tables that happened to be adjacent to the manager's playing area. Throughout our game, the manager continuously stared at our group of six in an aggressively intimidating manner, making us all feel extremely uncomfortable. He eventually approached us and bluntly stated, "Have you ever been to a billiards room before? You can't place the pool cues on the ground." At this point, I was quite frustrated, thinking to myself, "Why doesn't he focus on his own game instead of bothering us?" Feeling a bit annoyed, I went to the bar to order some pretzels. The manager handed me a bowl, and I brought it back to our group. However, he abruptly snatched the bowl from my hands, scolding me, "You can't eat pretzels over here." I confronted him, asking what his problem was, to which he erupted in anger, shouting, "YOU ARE THE ISSUE!" He then confiscated the bowl and returned with another one five minutes later, without saying a word. We continued playing our game of pool while the manager continued to stare at us disdainfully. After we finished, I reported the incident to the front desk clerk, who assured me that he was the superior above the manager and that he would address the situation. However, despite this assurance, we were still charged $96 for a mere 15 minutes of the most uncomfortable pool experience I have ever encountered. In conclusion, I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone.

Tables are level and well spaced out. DONT reserve as they charge you $75 an hour instead of $17 when you walk in. The waitress are great and the beer is cold. Some of the crowd comes for something to do and aren’t considerate of the etiquette while passing tables and waiting your turn to shoot, but for the most part that’s probably true anywhere.

Great place to both hang out with friends or to hold a business function. The catering that is available is far from high end, but holds true to the character of the establishment. Aside from well appointed billiards tables, Amsterdam Billiards also features ping pong, beer pong, darts, jenga and more. For our business function we found that the space was suited to connect our AV and presentation kit. The staff at Amsterdam Billiards was extraordinarily professional. No matter what we asked for during our function, the staff did their very best to accommodate. Looking forward to returning either for business or pleasure.

Excellent fun! Excellently social and the atmosphere is cozy. The drinks and the game is smooth, to be shared with friends and those you enjoy. Prices are great, service is great. Situated in the right spot, at the right time, for the right reason... fun! Highly recommended!

Pretty expensive for a place that doesn’t have to do anything - $17 per person per hour if a group of 3-4, $18 for 1-2. PER PERSON! Drinks are also overpriced. Nice concept, but there are better pool halls with better drinks at a lower cost. Chart for pool pricing isn’t explained well and is super confusing so feel like we lowkey got scammed

The staff is great but the owner is really letting the equipment go. Needs new balls, better racks and LED table lights to be current. This is aside from the overall decor which is severely dated.

The worst staff I have encountered in 5 countries that I have lived in. After 1 hour sharp of playing, the manager tried to overcharge me and my friend for our game. He claimed we played 10 minutes more, but he didn't know we were using a timer to make sure we played 1 hour sharp. After we insisted, he pretended he didn't mind. Due to his dishonest behavior, I left no tip for the first time since I've come to New York. He grabbed the bill in an openly unsatisfied manner and immediately threw it in the garbage can. Then, me and my friend went to the bar. We ordered a prosecco and a Sprite. We were talking and having a good time at the bar, so far so good. Then I tried to order a second prosecco. The bartender refused. I was surprised since this was the first time I faced this kind of situation, and tried to ask for more information from her just out of curiosity- if the bar was closing soon (not the case), if I looked underage (not the case) and I offered to show my ID, if there was a policy of the bar applying to everyone (not the case, we were treated differently from everybody else). Since the bartender ignored us and left us wondering about this "special" treatment and kept serving to the rest of the clients, the manager stepped in. He said they would hold liability if something "happened to us" outside. I specified to him that I was curious why, was it because we were women, or foreign (me), and he tried to made fun of my assumptions. Then he reduced to petty conversation discussing if I had had 1 drink only, or 1 drink at the bar and 1 Corona beer 1.30 hours ago during the game - as if I was some teenager and not a 31-year-old woman. He was being rude, sassy and unfriendly. I know private businesses can act as they wish, but if something is legal it doesn't mean it is fine or cool. I give 1 star for the good quality of the gaming equipment, but the staff (the manager especially) is weird, impolite, dishonest, disrespectful, and the place is overpriced.

Excellent staff, Upscale room well maintained. A very fun place to go with a group or alone. Cocktails are amazing and the vibe is always good. I’ve never had any issue or bad experience here. I frequent the location at least twice a month and have been coming to ABC locations for years. Wonderful place!

The bouncer’s arrogance and lack of humanity made us to leave the place and honestly that was the best thing that could happen! This place is overrated and there are other pool bar in the area that are much nicer! I and some of my friends arrived sooner and a bunch of my girlfriends arrived later. Initially, the bouncer started questioning my girlfriends driver license authenticity, after 10 mins conversation he gave the green light to my girlfriends to enter and when I came to collect my friends he insisted to come with me to ensure I’ll add new folks to the tab even though I told him numerous times that I’ll do that. At the end, the bouncer asked the reception to cancel our reservation while I and my other friends that arrived sooner have been there playing pools for more than 30 mins. To compensate, the receptionist told me that we’ll not charge you ( ~50$)to “compensate for the inconvenience”. I wonder why they decided to compensate for the inconvenience if they knew the bouncer statement was correct. Have you seen anyone in nyc to not go after their money if they’ve been rightfully entitled to it? There are so many things to decompose what happened there but all I can say is If you are non English speaker be aware! They claim to be impartial but In practice they are rude and they are blinded to see their arrogance and biases toward other people which is so sad bc people that I’ve interacted with are minorities as well. Anyway bartenders are nice but other staffs can potentially put hurdles on your fun night out depending on who you are and if they feel good about you or not. In that case, do not waste your time! Leave and search for other places!

Bar service was great, staff very nice and drink were great. Can't imagine a better pool hall, but with an above average vibe. Check it out for sure.

A corporate dream This place would be best described as a corporate wet dream. Alcohol, food and a team-building activity all rolled into one. Bliss. I attended, unsurprisingly, with work - only to find myself surrounded by lots of other people who were also attending… WITH WORK Everyone was, of course, looking rather like they may want to be elsewhere… as they trudged in wearing the sweaty and faded remnants of that day's suit. Groups were separated by a velvet rope, the type you see in cinemas, with each group keeping to itself. Staff were nice and the drinks were pleasant but, for a social occasion, it may be best to avoid corporate Thursdays. The place itself also gives the impression of being really quite old… but remove the rose-tinted beer glasses and a quick look at the furnishings will reveal their surprisingly modern appearance.

Dishonest place, signed up at the entrance and was told it was a 30 minute wait. After an hour in, noticed they keep letting larger groups in to make more money per person on the table. It’s expensive enough as is, no need to be dishonest

My favorite place to be. It definitely feels like family to me. And I get to shoot pool with not only my good friends but I get to shoot pool with pro’s that have become friends. This is the place to be to become a better pool player or just have a lot of good fun. And the bartenders and servers are the best in the city. 👍🏽

Could be a nice place but the bartender was so miserable and just not welcoming at all. Also what's up with the waitresses wearing tight black mini dresses, like it's a strip club? I really didn't find that attractive. Very unprofessional. Expecting more class from a pool club.

Came through with the team and balled out. Plenty of space to chill and beers kept flowing.

Pros: Good tables Per person pricing makes it relatively cheap to play solo. Fair pricing for 2 players Cons: Per person pricing means with 3+ players is very expensive. One of the guys that runs paying for tables is dishonest about wait times, and was super rude to me when he accidentally selected the wrong table to close out, and I was telling him it couldn’t be correct as we hadn’t even arrived at the time he said we’d started playing.

Friendly place with pool tables, ping pong, darts, and foosball in the East Village. Fair pricing per person, per hour. Wonderful staff. Great for a rainy day or a night of fun. Highly recommend!

The bathroom is creepy and super dark. Everything was outdated and dusty, felt like I was in a horror movie. It served its purpose, I learned how to play pool but that was because of good company. I wouldn’t go back.

This place was awful and gross. The sign is not explicit about how much the rates are for pool. We were there for an hour and they said we owed them $180. After pointing to their sign and doing the math for them, we convinced them to charge less. They were cruel and sketchy. THEYRE TRYING TO SCAM YOU

Classic pool hall, no frills no fuss. It has a decent bar, but you don't go for the drinks. There are a lot of pool tables available. Well maintained and clean spot..

It’s really big so you don’t have to wait long for a table. Paid $60 for my date and I to play for about two hours. Going to go back again soon, super friendly staff

I love coming here for date night or just out with friends. The bar service is top notch, the tables are in great shape & they have respectable pricing. I do not hesitate when I say you should come here, they have 2 dart boards as well. If you’re friends would rather play ping pong they have that too! Overall I can’t wait to come back.

nice place, pleasant table staff, BUT, very pricey! We failed to read that the hourly rate was per person so we were taken aback with the $159 charge for a couple of hours of pool. We are more used to coin operated tables at £1-2 per game, so to be charged 10 times that price felt like being scammed. We also had a spurious charge of $37 on our card in addition to our bar tab.
