Walking into Toast reminded me of walking into a restaurant in a small alp town except it's a Classic American brunch spot in Montclair, NJ. The cozy two-story restaurant was packed on Mother's Day brunch. We ordered a French toast latte (a nice drink for a cold day) and turmeric latte. I got the crab Benedict and my boyfriend order waffles with berries. Though the home fries were cooked well-crispy and seasoned-the crab was not as fresh. The waffles and the maple syrup they have selected was excellent!! We were in and out within an hour since it was just two people!

Yummy! Yummy! Yummy! We shared the banana fosters French toast and loaded potato scramble with home fries and toast. The staff was friendly, atmosphere charming and selections all appetizing. We went on Sunday morning around 9am. There was no wait. Quickly sat and was greeted by our waitress who told us the specials and took our drink order. She promptly got our drinks and took our food order. We were so happy with our choices. My husband and I had the biggest food smiles and placed to go orders for later. Don't miss out on this wonderful place.

Another hidden gem. Great breakfast, brunch, lunch place. 😋 The food is tasty and the service is great. The place looks small upon entering but, service is also provided on the 2nd floor. Parking is on the street and though it took us a few minutes to find parking it was ok.

Came for Brunch on a Sunday, wait was not long- about 20 minutes. Although there are two floors, dining space is a little tight but the food is bomb. Breakfast sandwich was huge and the Lemon poppy seed pancakes were better than expected. Service was good too. I will be coming back for sure.

Went for a brunch by myself. There was no wait time. I walked up to the counter while the waitress was doing her work, didn’t bother to ask if I need help. Few others passed by didn’t ask a single thing. There was another couple came right before me was placed on the table right away. Extremely rude customer service. I was finally seated after asking myself and the staff seemed as if they don’t even care if I came, the host who served me was nice. I got avacado toast and orange juice. The toast was like any other toast and there was nothing special about the avacado either. I will highly recommend avoiding this place.

This place is adorable. The entire menu has so many delicious options. I for once had a hard time choosing what I want to eat. Very spacious and was accommodating to large parties. Either go early or expect a wait but come hungry. Can’t wait to come back

Great menu with delicious food. Place is casual, looks small from outside but has a 2nd floor. Dining is good for a small or large group with enough room. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Had the Banana Foster French Toast - so delicious!!! 👍 Place gets busy so get there early. It’s on a first come first serve basis- no reservations!Only problem is street parking…. after all, it’s Montclair but it’s all worth it!

Nice place for brunch. Would recommend to get placed on the wait-list before arriving to save time. The Irish eggs Benedict had a large portion and was very tasty. The California omelet was also good. We tried the grilled cinnamon rolls but those were just ok - they are fairly small and simple. Staff is very friendly. There isn't a parking lot, so it's all street parking.

A delicious brunch! This place packs up quickly and after trying several dishes from the menu I see why. Absolutely delicious! Staff was also very attentive even being busy with so many tables. Would definitely return!

Went to this place on 4th July long weekend for breakfast. The place is really good in Montclair downtown area having a good ambience. There service is okay, ordered breakfast and came very much on time. However, I see some room of improvements in terms of food how it tastes as they season is bit off set. There are paid parking in front of the restaurant on the roads.

Cozy atmosphere and “fancy” food options. Went out on a limb and tried the Challah banana fosters French toast. Seemed like regular bread, the sauce was more like a soup on the side, and whole pecans not chopped on the side. Had a good time with my friends tho.

We enjoyed our meal at Toast. Your welcomed to a very bright and open interior space split between two floors. The staff were very polite and had us seated with a minute or two of our arrival. They gave us enough time to get situated and look at the menu without feeling rushed. It was also nice of them to check in on us periodically. The food was flavorful and didn't take much time to get to our table from the time we ordered to the first bite. I highly recommend this spot if you want to grab breakfast, brunch, or even a late afternoon meal with friends/family.

Got here around 9am & Breakfast was absolutely yummy! Well flavored and came out pretty quickly. Parking is not great in the area but thankfully the Whole Foods lot is across the street. The ambiance is cozy, the staff was friendly & by the time we were leaving the line started to form. Keep in mind, this is Montclair so this spot is on the pricier side. We ordered the smoked salmon omelette with sweet potato fries, a waffle with side of egg whites & cheddar, avocado & Canadian bacon & two large orange juices. Our order came to about $68. When the same order at sayyy Chit chat diner, with the same great taste, would be half the price As of 10/8/23 still super tasty but pricey. Parking is tough so the Whole Foods parking lot is your best bet. The wait can also be long so def expect that.

I expected great things from this place. It is very popular. There was nothing special about it. Just regular breakfast. I had the crab hash. It was ok. They do not take reservations. So you have to check in and then find out your wait time. They won’t give wait time over the phone either.

Craveable menu features a wide variety of healthy and indulgent dishes to choose from. The staff always have a great vibe and make you feel welcome no matter how busy the restaurant gets.

Food: 10/10 (most important) Atmosphere: 9/10 Server: 5/10 Went around 12 PM with a party of 4, seated immediately. Had a great experience overall. Only drawback was that the server (Gwynn, stated on the check) did not ask if we wanted anything additional, randomly dropped the check without asking if we wanted it, and was just overall unfriendly. Suspect this was an isolated experience so would not stop me from returning. Definitely recommend going back.

A mixed experience. You can tell the managers and cooks are trying to do a good job (food came out fast once ordered) but most others working here don't care (had to ask twice for water, table was sticky and chairs had old food on them, had to ask twice for the bill). Heard it was good food, but it gave me a stomach ache (and that's not usual for me). Had to circle the area a bit to find parking. We won't be back with this price/experience.

Worth the visit. Fast service, fast delivery of food. Delicious plates. Will be back. Awesome vibe and french press to table is a great touch. Great place for vegetarians.

Food here was good… their drinks/quality/service not so much. My significant other and I are hardcore coffee lovers. He usually orders a ice French toast LATTE when he comes to Toast (he comes here often). He mistakenly ordered a hot French toast LATTE. We brought it to our server’s attention and we asked if he could get it Iced. We apologize to the server for the confusion. The ginger red haired young lady who was behind the espresso machine decides to take the hot LATTE and water is down with ice cubes and instead of making a new ice LATTE. I emphasize on “LATTE” because what we received back was a AMERICANO. Water down espresso and a nasty nasty French toast americano. Won’t be coming back.

We loved the Asbury Park location and decided to try this location in Montclair. I’m a bit disappointed in the food. The service was great. Seating was easy at peak time on Friday for breakfast. I had the special drink which was iced strawberry matcha. Lacking flavor. Bland. Barely tasted any strawberry. I ordered scrambled eggs, potatoes and whole grain toast. My potatoes were dark and almost burned. As I looked around, anyone who ordered potatoes had the same. Which indicated to me they were not fresh. I did not complain. Because honestly I don’t think there was a fix for that. Eggs were blah. Nothing special. The large cinnamon bun was just “eeeh”. Felt like fast food. I feel something is missing in this location. They need to find it. It’s not the Toast I remember. Probably won’t come back.

We went here with high expectations because the reviews were so good. We ordered Challah French Toast, Ham & Onion Omelette and Crab Hash. The French toast was so delicious and the omelet was unusual. It was also yummy. But Crab Hash was too fishy and sour...It was a disappointment. It's a crowded place, so it's hard to get a seat. And you have to be patient and wait a lot. Lol... Some of the staff were kind and understandable.

Food was chefs kiss! Had the waffle and fries, friend had red velvet waffle and scrambled eggs, another friend had some kind of bowl dish- everything was done. Not a bite left. Highly recommend. Ambiance was great, cute spot in Montclair. food was freshly made, even the fruit on it was fresh! Staff was attentive- saving this spot to come again. Should note that the earlier you come the better, because there is a line and they don’t take RSVP’s from what I gather- at least no RSVPs on the weekend.

We had huevos ranchero , corned beef hash eggs Benedict and french toast . We ordered through doordash. Food was tasty and worth it.

I thought I was going to wait a long time for a seat but luckily I didn't have to wait at all! The food was delicious, the pancakes were super fluffy and my cuban sandwich was so tasty! Our food did not take a long time to arrive at our table either. Great service, vibe and overall excellent experience.

I had a gluten-free pancake and California omelette. It was so good. The staff hey Siri primary, attentive but not bugging you. And the music was on point. Best gluten free pancake.
