I came here with great expectations based on the reviews and the pictures. However my experience was it was a big disappointment and it all comes down to the service. Since the moment I arrived I felt that the service was not very welcoming but maybe it was just me, not everyone has to be nice I get that. However during my dinner I was asked if I was going to be there for a while, if I needed a cup to take my beer to go and a couple of more questions that really made me feel like I wasn't welcomed. Worth mentioning that there were around 10 people in the place including me. So no, they didn't need the table. And after seeing how the waitress/bartender/owner treated other people I realized it wasn't me. Also, there was a lady who was yelling to another lady from one extreme to the other and the bartender didn't ask her to calm down or anything, it really was weird to see how she kinda took sides here. Again, the service was just awful. Just to be fair, I have to recognize the food was good, I had the Philly Cheese Steak and a slice of pizza.

Review Date: September 22nd, 2015 3 points for delicious pizza. Out of bounds for late night zaniness. Hoops. Hoops is quite the odd place. It’s on Main Street in Peoria, so it’s easily accessible. They are open until 5:30am. They serve many types of liquor, beer and varieties of pizza. They have available space upstairs. The pizza itself is super delicious. Lots of positives and now, the negatives. Do not come here after the sun goes down. Stuff gets weird. I’ve been here many times since turning 21 (back in 2008). There are cops always parked next to the building since there is always something going wrong in the general area at night. The clientele goes from business/normal people during the day to the odd ones at night. This one time, a bunch of my friends and I were there and this lady stops by our table and is convinced my friend is her nephew. So she offers to buy us food and drinks and just continues to increase her creep level. Getting really close and touchy-feely. Creeped us all out to no end. We booked it to Richard’s as soon as she went to the bathroom. She makes an appearance in the slideshow below, if you are curious about her. I just don’t know what it is about that location that does a 180 after the sun goes down. It’s a great ‘by the slice’ pizza place though. So if you go, make sure it’s for lunch or an early dinner. Unless you want a free show of something always getting weird.

Went there a couple times on a work trip. The pizza was so good the first time that I brought my colleagues over for pizza the next day! Not only was it good, but one slice of my two pizza slices got a bit cut off in the oven, so they remade both of them, and I ended up with 4! Great local food with a lot of heart!

Love the food!!!! Get a good amount for the price. Downfall they need more than 1 server/bartender on schedule at all times. Places is usually pretty busy especially with pick up orders.

Very Nice late night food option. They have slice pizza options and I loved the pizza. Ambiance is nice but the food service is bit slow

They have really good pizza and we were waited on quickly. It didn't take long for our food to be prepared either. If I'm ever in the area again, I would definitely go back.

Best Italian beef deluxe around. Great price. Pizza by the slice is amazing also. Basic downtown bar but that is what I love about it. Always go here when I am in town.

We live about 45 min from Hoops and have been going here for many, many years. Their menu looks wonderful, but we typically don't get past the Calzones, good stuff. It gets busy when there are shows at the civic center, so plan accordingly. Always happy when we go!

The calzone was unreal! Paired with the super friendly staff made for a great experience! Come hungry because the calzone can feed an army! I was traveling in late and was happy to see they were open late to grab a beer and some awesome food and laughs with the staff. Would 1000% come back again while traveling through the area!

Stopped in with my wife for dinner before the symphony. It had been a long time since I'd been there, but it hasn't changed. It was a busy night. Our server was a bit overworked and the music was a little loud (I'm old). The pizza was excellent. We'll be back.

Lunch and drinks. A great day and great food. A historical place that has survived past so many places that don't survive in downtown Peoria. Come in for a calzone or the stromboli.

Foods great applause the cooks. Waitress didn't come back after she served food and asked if we were okay or needed any drinks. So when I went up to the bar to ask her something she said there were others before me so I went back to table and she never came back. oh and she got my order wrong added mushrooms to my Pizza but wasn't no biggie.

One of the best pizza places I've been to! We had the "works". Great crust and no shortage of toppings! Will definitely be going there again!

Visiting my favorite past time place. I moved away years ago. I was hoping it was still open. Worth stopping in and having a drink and food. Everything on the menu is great and great portion sizes!

This place was packed and I don't know what's stopping them from getting a bigger place. That being said, they managed the crowd excellently and we didn't wait anywhere near as long as I thought we would. Will definitely be back.

We stopped here before an event at the civic center, the tater kegs are amazing! Great location, Pizza is also very good, they offer slice options also which is great for wanting to try the specialty options they have. Waitress was attentive, friendly, cocktails were mixed great! Would recommend for a bite to eat!

It's tough to beat Hoop's consistency. From their reliably great pizza, reasonable menu prices and the most glorious mullet in central Illinois, I've never had a bad experience here. So many places have come and gone through the years, but when I'm back in Illinois, Hoops is where I go for a real taste of home.

Nice place, we had sandwiches.. .They were huge... Plus they give you more than enough chips. Their pizzas looked and smelled amazing. Will go back just to try the pizzas...

Worst service I’ve ever had! We went in sat down was never seen by a waiter or waitress for 30 plus mins. One walked by and we asked if we could order and she said she would get to us when she could. She kept walking by our table never stopping to take our orders. The she goes behind the bar grabs her coat and purse and left. So we got up and walked out. While we were there the place wasn’t busy for us to be ignored like that. We will never return or suggest this place to anyone.

Man if u like people watching, this is the place for u! Alot of people shuffling in and out to play the gambling machines. We always get the Italian beef or pepperoni cazone. We tried the Stromboli last time-felt like I was eating an onion pizza-will order light next time. The dude that is always working is so good at what he does!!! Great service!

Came with my family, they all order food and beers. I asked for an icewater and the server said “we only have bottled and its $1.75” i said nevermind. Then my mother ordered an icewater and after asking 3 times, he brought her a glass of ice water. Make it make sense

Before today, we’d enjoyed the service and especially the pizza. The bartender lady was not in the mood to answer questions for what would have been a pick up order. She said she was not going to argue w me after I’d asked what were the ingredients in a chef salad vs a house salad.(no argument in that) and she disconnected from the call. Once I arrived I ordered a medium pepperoni pizza and a salad-from the same lady…she never explained the difference in salads; didn’t want to list the dressings available, tossed the menu at me, walked behind me to wait other tables, walked behind the bar to serve beer to other patrons and while I stood there w my cc in hand she ignored me. The gentleman sitting beside where I stood stated she must be having a bad day. It was that obvious how ignorant she was behaving. I sat at the table across from the bar w my cc in hand and then laid it on the table and she didn’t acknowledge me. After thinking about the unwarranted disrespect and rude behavior, I politely left. If this is what you want representing what I understand is a staple in Peoria, I highly recommend training this one to be cognizant of customer service and work life balance. Otherwise this is unacceptable.

The pizza was delicious. Drink prices were fair and the bartender was at the top of his game, would recommend.

I've always heard good things so I was shocked that the food is atrocious. I first ordered the Italian beef nachos having visions of chunks of tender Italian beef. Instead it was like Arby's roast beef slathered in nacho cheese. I sent it back and ordered a slice of BBQ chicken pizza which also turned out to be inedible..crazy because I thought there was no way to mess up pizza. How do you make pizza gross? By using a $hitload of Monterey cheese, a gallon of BBQ sauce, a chewy, yet hard, flat crust, uncooked onions and undercooked diced chicken that tasted like ham? Sorry Hoops... good service is the only reason I give a star.
