What an amazing little cafe! The food was what I would expect from a super Ritzy 5 star restaurant - everything was beyond delicious and the portions were perfect! The atmosphere was incredible - lightheaded and relaxing. It's my new favorite place in downtown Raleigh!

SOSTA is an oasis of calm, peace, delicious food, and genuine community in the midst of downtown Raleigh. The food is excellent for take-out, or to bask in the atmosphere and take a break to enjoy the superbly crafted coffee, sandwiches, salads, and sides. Jerome, Raleigh's favorite French, now American, citizen pours his heart into making SOSTA the sort of place where you long to be a regular. Treat yourself to a place where the experience is just as important as the magnificent food, and support a gem of an independent cafe that has endured a terrible year.

Wow, I don't know how to say it. A true gem that's in plain site. It's delicious. Everything. I don't know if it's the French influence in the kitchen but it's, like, so good. So simple and yet so delicious. You can't make it this way at home, lol, I promise. It's funky, it’s cool, it’s charming, it’s eclectic, it’s modern and metropolitan and cozy and good. Coffee bar with a kitchen, it’s dynamite 🧨

delicious and pretty healthy, filling food, wonderful staff, and great atmosphere. there are many vegetarian and vegan options, so i was set. the majority of the choices are sandwiches so this is a great place to come for lunch. the riveria was so tasty. i ate the whole thing even though it was big. didn’t think i could eat it all

Very friendly place with a great selection of vegan sandwiches. A plate is affordable and more than enough to get you filled. At least it was in my case. I had a BBQ sandwich that I uploaded a photo about. The double espresso wasn't too strong and oily. I sat in around 8 a.m. and by 9 the place was almost full already. Many of the guests seemed regular, the guy behind the bar seemed to know many of them, which gave the whole place a homely vibe. The decoration is cool, retro, artsy and kind of international. Good experience all together.

Great quality food and perfect coffee spot. Highly recommend their tasting platter - definitely enough to feed 2 people. Latte is amazing . They decorated the place very stylish with old school vintage stuff. Prices are fairly reasonable and service is quick. Cool place

Delicious little cafe! We enjoyed 2 of the vegan sandwiches and tried all 3 sides. Everything is made in house, high quality and well proportioned. We drank a latte and kombucha. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

I love this place! Great cappuccino, healthy, tasty lunches and cozy ambience. Every time I am always greeted and cared for with exceptional service. Been coming here as a morning/lunch break spot for the past 6 years.

What an amazing authentic French cafe. I can’t say enough about my experience. The atmosphere was very unique and cozy. You no longer felt like you were in a city when you stepped inside. All the vegetarian sandwiches were delicious and freshly made. My friend described it was an explosion of flavors. We will be back.

Place was great. The Omelet was huge. Staff was ultra nice, let me and my wife split a cup of coffee and let us have separate cups with out me asking. Highly recommend eating here.

My husband and I both had the chicken and portabello sandwich which was very good. We would have preferred a larger variety of side options as neither of us are fond of chickpeas or beans but I really enjoyed the couscous. The house coffee was lovely and my husband enjoyed his bottle of rootbeer. The environment was cosy, but might have felt a bit claustrophobic if they had been very busy.

Delicious and healthy food made with eclectic ingredients from around the world. Tastes so fresh and comes in massive portions! There's so much food that I literally can't finish it all in one sitting (and I can usually put down a lot of food). Also, there's an impressive vegan selection that you just don't find at many restaurants. Plus, the owner is like the nicest guy!

Ordered an Americano and their Alpine sandwich. My choice of sides were the Israeli Couscous and the Chickpea salad. Next time I will get double the chickpea salad because it is addicting! You can tell this place is loved by all that walk in. It is clear that the owner takes good care of his place.

This is one of those great small spots, it isn't very big but the flavors and value is. Bunch of healthy options on the menu as well. I had the Ultimate Cheese Sandwich, no regrets...not much else to say than that.

The veggie sandwiches are delicious, especially the Angus. I usually don't care about deli sides, but the Israeli couscous and chickpea salads are good enough that I would go there just for those.

Our first time here. It was as good as I had heard. Servings are huge: my husband and I split our meal (Poulet with chickpeas and canellini beans salads). My nephew ate half of his meal and took the other half home for dinner. Everything was just right: the bread, the fillings, the spices -- and you could taste the freshness. The beans and chickpeas were obviously cooked in-house, not canned. Although it seems like a no-frills place (from the whiteboard sign outside the shop to the decor and setup inside) attention has been paid to the right things. There is no waiter service - you order at the counter and the owner brings your order to the table. There were perhaps 6 tables inside plus a sofa and seat in a corner where a couple was playing chess while they ate. There are also a few small tables outside. The plates and glasses were simple but solid, as was the napkin-wrapped silverware. Just a really nice, relaxed and relaxing vibe. I see us going here often.

I am not easily moved to leave reviews, but: Everyone needs to support this absolute gem because you cannot find food like this in Raleigh ANYWHERE else. Delicious doesn’t begin to cover the experience. They do fresh amazing food that feels more at home in Europe, but by some stroke of luck and genius is right here in downtown Raleigh. Eat at, and protect Sosta at all costs.

This, restaurant is a very lovely place, and affordable. I bought a chicken salad sandwich ( vegan) with couscous and beans for the sides. 👌

Can't believe I haven't posted a review yet! I've been going to Sosta for lunch anytime I'm in Raleigh for years now. The Dude Where's My Chicken sandwich is the absolute best vegan chick'n salad ever. The pearl couscous salad and chickpea salad are my favorites. The food is so filling and the prices are great. I bring everybody here whenever they're traveling with me. It's also right in downtown, a quick few blocks from the museums.

We were visiting Raleigh and popped in to have some espresso and tea. They both were incredible and the prices can't be beat. We did not try any food but they had a huge variety of vegan options! Bonus points for the hilarious sign 😆

I think I’ve found a fav new lil raleigh cafe. The guy working (maybe the owner?) was super chill. It’s got a solid menu with veggie and non veggie items that all come with really tasty couscous plus white bean salad. Got a good decaf cappuccino. The guy working there also helped a guy in a motorized wheelchair come into the cafe, which was cool. Nice art too

My sister and I stumbled upon this little gem on Memorial Day, the aroma and witty sign pulled us right in. Plenty of vegan or vegetarian options. The owner manned the counter and boy was he a hoot, definitely in his element. The food was fresh and quick. I had a vegan sandwich that was by my surprise served with a cold bean salad and couscous. Filling and priced well for the area.

I went in for coffee and ended up ordering the Guido sandwich. I have to say it was one of the best sandwiches that I have eaten. The ciabatta bread was fresh, perfectly toasted. It had perfectly caramelized onions, a layer of Gorgonzola cheese and fresh arugula. The Canelli beans, and the couscous paired perfectly with a sandwich. This café is a true gem for semi gourmet food.

This is the best coffee shop in the Carolinas. The food is so fresh all the time. It's located in a great part of town and the coffee is so rich and strong. Would recommend this place to anyone who is in the city or visiting. You won't find anything better

Stopped in on a walk around the town and it was amazing. The gentleman who was working (I think the owner) was great and helpful. They have an amazing selection of vegetarian and vegan options that really sets them apart from a lot of the other offerings in Raleigh. I ordered "This Little Piggy" with a side of couscous and cannellini beans salad. One of the most filling and satisfying vegan meals I have ordered in a very long time. When I visit Raleigh again, I will be returning and I suggest you do the same.

Vegan/vegetarian menu. The food is absolutely fantastic!! The flavors were phenomenal, and the portions were just right. The sides that came with our sandwiches were chickpea salad and pearl cous cous. The flavors..just amazing! I got the "Dude, wheres my chick'n" vegan sandwich , and my boyfriend got the steak vegan sandwich. You will not be disappointed going here. Not only is the food great, the owner is very friendly, And you can tell that he takes great pride in his restaurant. I understand why, this place has fantastic food is downtown Raleigh!
